A new Chinese restaurant has opened on the 5th floor of a building about a 5-minute walk from Tamachi Station Shibaura Exit. I visited for lunch on a weekday. The restaurant, which opened in August 2021, is called "Waikoen." The lunch menu includes dishes such as fried rice, mapo tofu set meal, noodles, and fried dumplings set. They also have a dim sum lunch menu, so dim sum might be worth trying. I decided to order the relatively rare Beef Tendon Wine Stew Rice in a Clay Pot (980 yen). The dish arrived in about 3 minutes. The rice in the clay pot was topped with a sauce containing chunks of carrots, potatoes, and beef tendons, resembling curry ingredients. The beef tendons were tender and plentiful, with no strong flavor, and the soy sauce-based sauce complemented the rice well. The potatoes and carrots were soft and easy to chew. Although I couldn't taste the wine, I could feel its umami. The portion of rice was quite large, probably around 300g. I felt full for a while. The soup was not the usual Chinese egg drop soup but a salted vegetable soup with a strong flavor, which I enjoyed. The pickles had a slightly sour taste, which was refreshing. Lastly, the almond jelly dessert was delicious, resembling a rich milk pudding with high quality. Overall, it was a satisfying Chinese lunch experience.

This is a newly opened Chinese restaurant on the 5th floor of a mixed-use building with a restaurant. Despite being an old building, there is an elevator to the 5th floor, which leads directly to the entrance of the restaurant. A young female staff member who speaks fluent Japanese will guide you to your seat and provide polite service. The lunch menu is varied, ranging from 500 yen for daily specials to around 1,200 yen for dishes like shrimp chili. I ordered the high vegetable fried rice for 780 yen, which came with a set including Chinese soup, a small dish of mapo tofu, and almond jelly. The cost performance of this place is surprisingly good, considering its location in the city. The taste of the food is honestly average, but the affordability and quick service make this restaurant a convenient choice.

Overwhelmingly disappointing ramen shop. I ordered tantanmen but what came out was nothing like it. There was no sesame at all. Even if it was a different type of tantanmen, it was not enjoyable. I will never go back.

First visit. Ordered the "Stir-fried mushrooms and thick fried tofu in soy sauce lunch set" from the many lunch menu options. Comes with mini mapo tofu, mini salad, and almond jelly, so it's a good deal. Seems like the boiled eggs are all-you-can-eat. The main dish of homemade tofu isn't very large in portion. The taste is average. The mapo tofu is a bit salty since it's cold, but it has an authentic flavor. Perfect as a side dish for rice bowls. The almond jelly is a bit firm like jelly, not the best, but still appreciated that it's included.

Looking for delicious lunch fried rice, I found a Char Siu Fried Rice for 680 yen, which is a great value for money. The set includes spicy Sichuan-style mapo tofu, shredded cabbage salad, egg soup, and almond jelly for this price! The fried rice is flavorful and generous with plenty of Char Siu. The seasoning, oil level, and amount of Char Siu are all excellent. It's surprising to find such a place with great value like this on my fried rice journey. The fried rice is also very filling and delicious. Bon appétit!

I visited a Chinese restaurant with my colleagues. The course meal with all-you-can-drink for 3000 yen was a great deal! The interior of the restaurant was clean and impressive. However, the food was just average. Also, all the drinks were weak. Considering the price, I guess it's understandable. Thank you for the meal!

At Shibaura 3-chome, I had lunch at "Kaikouen" known for their highly praised 500 yen weekly lunch specials. Located on the 5th floor of the Megumi Building, the restaurant offers authentic Chinese cuisine prepared by a chef who trained in China. The restaurant has a surprisingly spacious, bright, and clean interior with around 60 seats available at tables and private rooms. Although the "福" character is traditionally hung upside down, it was displayed normally, suggesting the chef may be Japanese. I ordered the 500 yen weekly lunch special which included beef and daikon stew, mapo tofu side dish, egg white soup, dessert, and rice. The staff, including a friendly female server, explained that rice and soup refills were available. The beef and daikon stew had a delicate seasoning with a subtle aroma of Chinese five-spice powder, offering a gentle, sweet, and nostalgic flavor. The mapo tofu was not too spicy and paired well with rice. The homemade almond jelly dessert was rich and delicious. Overall, the meal provided excellent value for 500 yen, making it one of the best cost-effective lunch options in Minato Ward. Thank you for the meal!

The food was gently seasoned and delicious. The fried rice was a bit salty. The Shaoxing wine was reasonably priced and easy to enjoy. The staff were friendly, so I will definitely visit again. I know it's a tough time right now, but keep up the good work.

Plenty of fried rice on the plate. It has a crispy finish. Mapo tofu in a small dish. It has a good level of spiciness. Egg drop soup is light. Almond jelly is soft and pudding-like. All dishes were served lukewarm. The service was slow with long wait times for ordering, serving, and payment. The food was decent but not exceptional.

I visited the restaurant alone around 11:30 on a weekday. There were no other customers, and it was a medium-sized restaurant with about 50 table seats. The interior was very simple with no particular decorations. The waitress was extremely polite and attentive, perhaps because there were no other customers. I ordered the seafood ramen set, which came with 2 grilled dumplings, a small dish of mapo tofu, and almond jelly. The seafood ramen was generously filled with large shrimp and squid, making it seem like a good value for the price. The grilled dumplings had a flavorful filling, and I enjoyed them even without soy sauce. However, the mapo tofu lacked depth of flavor. The restaurant is located on the 5th floor of a building, which may make it challenging to attract customers, so they may need to find a unique selling point.

The Shanghai cuisine seemed well-prepared and promising. With a mix of Cantonese dishes, it seemed like the chef had experience in high-end hotels. When I inquired, I found out that the chef was actually from Sichuan. Despite my initial surprise, the dim sum that was served was decent, made in-house, and met the standards of a Cantonese restaurant outside of mainland China. The Four Happiness Kao Fu had a subtle sweetness and was not overly seasoned with additives. While not a restaurant worth traveling far for (especially considering the high parking fees in the area), if it were closer to my workplace, I would likely visit from time to time.

I had always been curious about the menu as I passed by. Recently, I noticed a congratulatory wreath at the entrance, even though the menu had been out for a while. I visited around 1:30 pm on a Saturday and more than half of the seats were taken. I ordered the Gomoku Yumen for 980 yen because I wanted a noodle dish with lots of vegetables. It took about 10 minutes for the dish to arrive. The hot noodles in a thick sauce were a delight. The soup had a sharp soy sauce flavor. The wontons arrived later and were also hot and fresh. They had a sweet tropical aroma, which was unexpected. Personally, I would prefer just the noodles without the almond jelly, wontons, or pickles, at a flat price of 900 yen. The male staff member was friendly and quickly provided me with a paper apron, which was a nice touch. I received a loyalty card on my way out, where I can get a free lunch item after 10 visits. I wonder if I will go back 9 more times...haha.

The price is what it is, so there's not much to comment on... I think the portion of fried rice is too much for women. I tried my best not to leave any leftovers, but I couldn't finish it... The female staff was very friendly.

We used this restaurant for a company welcome party for new employees. We were looking for a place with a private room and all-you-can-drink option for 18 people. The all-you-can-drink option was reasonable at 4000 yen. We reserved a place with slightly low ratings but with a private room. However, on the day of our visit, we were surprised to find out that there was no private room as we had seen in the photos. We were seated in a regular area, and it was quite noisy as there was another party next to us. The food was okay, and the drinks were served relatively quickly after ordering. I mainly ordered highballs, which were strong and served in large glasses, so I was satisfied. The service was not as good as mentioned in other reviews, as the owners seemed busy and were not able to provide attentive service. As a non-smoker, I was bothered by the smoking area right outside the restaurant, which caused smoke to enter the premises as the door was left open. In summary: - The private room was falsely advertised - Service was lacking - Drinks and food were satisfying - Prices were good - Smoking area was a concern

Today was a company gathering at a Chinese restaurant. We had a drink-all-you-can option for 1650 yen, along with individual orders. We ordered mapo tofu, stir-fried pork with green peppers, cashew nut chicken, stir-fried pea shoots, and about 4-5 other appetizers that were not very clear. It was not your typical city Chinese restaurant, but authentic Chinese cuisine.

The first work party in Tokyo was fun and delicious. I had a lot of beer. I only took a picture of the mapo tofu.

This was my first visit and I was drawn by the black vinegar pork. It was delicious, and the accompanying mapo tofu had an authentic spiciness. Other people ordered fried rice etc., but it didn't seem to be great. The beer was Kirin.
