On this day, I visited a Famima near Yotsuya station. I walked along Shinjuku Street from Yotsuya station towards Yotsuya Sanchome, turned left at a side street past Taiyaki Wakaba, and found the Famima on the left. Inside the store, there were several setsubun (bean throwing festival) rolls on display, including Setsubun Roll for 450 yen, Seafood Setsubun Roll for 450 yen, and Wagyu Beef Setsubun Roll for 650 yen. I chose the most affordable option, the Salad Setsubun Roll for 360 yen (tax included). I also picked two items from the sandwich and deli bread section and headed to the cashier. The store was a typical Famima, with nothing particularly noteworthy about the atmosphere or service.
Salad Setsubun Roll 360 yen (tax included): A Setsubun roll filled with shrimp, tamagoyaki, mayo-mixed tuna flakes with onions, imitation crab meat, cucumber, wrapped in vinegared rice and seaweed. This year, since it's the year of the Ox, the lucky direction is between the Snake and Horse, towards the south-southeast. I made sure to face that direction while eating. The taste was just okay for a salad roll at this price, but I prefer Setsubun rolls with plenty of seafood. I look forward to enjoying Setsubun rolls with my family at home on the day of Setsubun.
Deli Bread Teriyaki Chicken & Egg 130 yen (tax included): A flat coppe bread topped with finely chopped teriyaki chicken and egg, drizzled with a mayo-like dressing. Famima's deli bread, like the Japanese-style tuna bread, offers satisfying taste and volume for its price. This bread was also a decent choice.
Sandwich Juicy Ham 270 yen (tax included): Since my favorite potato salad sandwich was temporarily unavailable, I opted for this Famima classic sandwich. It contains four slices of thinly sliced ham, mayo-dressed chopped cucumbers, and mustard-infused fat spread sandwiched between three slices of bread. Although the slices are thin and the volume is lacking compared to other sandwiches, the ham is flavorful and quite delicious. It might be a good choice for ham lovers.
