First, when I entered the store, it had a nostalgic atmosphere. I then bought a soy sauce chashu ramen and a large chashu at the ticket machine. When the chashu ramen arrived, I was surprised by the vision! It looked exactly like the ramen specialty store Daiki in Nishi-ku, Kyoto City. I immediately tried it and found the moist chashu, delicious soup, crunchy bean sprouts, green onions, and chewy noodles. The resemblance in appearance and taste to Daiki's ramen made me wonder if the owner had previously worked at Daiki.

Today I had miso ramen. It tasted just like usual and I enjoyed it. Compared to other ramen shops, the noodles here tend to be slightly softer. Even when ordering them firm, they come out a bit softer than expected. Sorry, this is just my personal experience, but I hope it helps. This ramen shop is run by a couple, and sometimes their son helps out with serving and washing dishes.

Located in Matsuo Taisha, a popular restaurant run by former employees of Akira-style ramen "Daiki", founded in 1996, "Ramen Yuu".
- Order: Shoyu ramen (¥900)
- Date of visit: 05/28/2023
We may not know if there is a trendy backstage tour at the Kyoto Aquarium, but if there is one to visit the kitchen and noodle-making room of a popular ramen restaurant, we would leave it to you and me. Yes, even a social studies field trip to a noodle factory can be arranged by Mr. Chie-san. Furthermore, Utasan a.k.a. Utakata, living in the new era, is on Indaplaystooby. With such a group, we went on a ramen tour to eat noodles. Unfortunately, neither "Daiei" was open, which was a disappointment. But there are many other assignments that must be done. Now, onto the "shoyu ramen". Since my mentor has surpassed the PA and is not picky, I had to try the other Yuu-chan.

Especially during lunchtime, there may be a line, but you can generally get in right away at other times. Today, I went in the evening and was seated right away. There was one group ahead of me and three groups behind me. I always struggle between choosing shoyu or miso broth when I go. I usually go with miso, but today I chose shoyu. I like my noodles firm and with extra green onions. The amount of chashu can vary slightly depending on how it's served. I regretted not choosing miso when I ordered shoyu, and vice versa. It made me realize that I should stick with my initial choice.

I had a large serving of soy sauce ramen. It was light but had a rich pork bone broth, making it very easy to eat. The noodles were thin, but paired perfectly with the soup. The interior of the restaurant was clean and had a casual atmosphere, making it easy for even one person to enter. Truly a ramen that you want to eat occasionally.

When I went at lunchtime, there was a long line. I heard that the person at the front had been waiting for 15 minutes. So, I decided to come back for dinner. I bought a meal ticket and quickly placed my order because they close early at night. This place gives me a nostalgic feeling, and this might be what I think of as Kyoto-style ramen.

It's been quite a while since I last had ramen at Yuu. I used to think it was delicious and visited a few times, but I hardly remember the taste now. Trying Yuu again after a long time, I thought, "Was it always this flavor?" My initial impression when it arrived was that it smelled! It had a greasy taste (not the pork bone smell, but a greasy smell). The chashu was also too fatty, and it tasted too heavy for my current preference. I tried adding pepper or spicy miso to improve the taste, but it didn't come together well. Maybe it's just my age, haha.

I have been coming here for a long time and the ramen is consistently delicious. Even though I am not a fan of soy sauce ramen, I can still eat it here! I recommend getting the noodles firm and with lots of vegetables. The chashu is also excellent, with plenty of it in the bowl. I highly recommend trying it out. There is no parking lot, so it's best to park at a nearby parking area.

I arrived at Ramen Yuu at 12:00 for my appointment at Miyakomesse on a weekday in January. I thought there might be a line, but I just made it in time to get a seat. The operation was being handled by two people and they seemed quite busy. I ordered the Chashu Ramen with firm noodles, and it arrived in about 10 minutes. Unfortunately, there wasn't much Chashu in the bowl, and there was a limited amount of bean sprouts and green onions. The ramen had a refreshing soy sauce flavor, which I liked. It made me want to visit Daiki-san as well. As I was leaving, there was a line forming, showing that it is a popular spot. I enjoyed the meal. Thank you.

Ordered: Soy Sauce Ramen (900 yen)
It was a very ordinary soy sauce ramen. It had more green onions than usual, which was appreciated by someone like me who lacks vegetables. It is an old-fashioned ramen shop that is rooted in the local community, with most customers being locals.

Soy sauce ramen ¥850, small rice ¥100. I happened to come across this ramen shop near the parking lot where I parked while on a work trip to Kyoto. It was really cold outside, so I was craving something warm to eat. The soup was a tonkotsu soy sauce base, not too heavy or salty, and really delicious. The noodles were thin and straight, a bit on the softer side, but they soaked up the soup well and tasted great. The chashu pork slices were tender and thin. There was plenty of Kujo green onions, which added a nice flavor. There was also a lot of bean sprouts, but personally, I didn't need that much (I felt like I was just eating bean sprouts mixed with noodles). Overall, it was really delicious.

For lunch today, I went to Ramen Yuu in Nanajo Omiya. It had been a while since my last visit, so I decided to try their miso ramen, which I had never had before. The miso ramen had a rich and flavorful broth that balanced well with the miso, giving it a slightly spicy kick. The noodles were firm and had a good texture, and the moist chashu pork complemented the miso soup perfectly. Overall, it was a satisfying and delicious bowl of ramen. Thank you for the meal.

Today I worked in Umekoji, Kyoto. I visited Ramen Yuu, a place I had been wanting to try for a while. The atmosphere inside is similar to Ginkaku-ji. It has a nostalgic feel, like something out of the movie Tampopo. The place was almost full, with a trendy vibe. I ordered soy sauce ramen and a small rice. The soup had a classic Kyoto soy sauce flavor, reminiscent of Asahi ramen. It was delicious with a deep flavor. The texture of the bean sprouts and green onions was good too. The noodles were slightly soft, but you can also order them firm. The chashu was amazing, perfectly seasoned. There were many regular customers, and they also offer takeout. This is a beloved local spot. Highly recommended, thank you for the meal!

Around 11:20 in the afternoon, there were about 4 local customers in the restaurant. The atmosphere inside was quiet, and the service seemed indifferent, giving the impression that they were not catering to tourists. I ordered the soy sauce ramen for ¥850. It arrived in about 5 minutes. The broth, a Kyoto-style soy sauce tonkotsu, had a noticeably mild saltiness. I could taste the richness of the soup and the sharpness of the soy sauce, but it had a rounded finish. The noodles were chewy and had a nice smooth texture. They seemed a bit on the smaller side in terms of portion. I think next time I would like to add some rice. The toppings included pork, bean sprouts, and green onions. The pork didn't have the typical strong smell often found in this type of ramen. The fat and lean meat were tender and melted in the mouth. It seemed to be a belly cut. The bean sprouts were soft and didn't have a strong earthy taste, which I liked. This might be my favorite among the Akira-style ramen I've tried.

Delicious ramen from Akira origin! Ramen Yuu (Umekoji, Kyoto West) Soy sauce ramen, extra large with additional chashu. Lots of vegetables, plus small rice. The ramen seems to be from Daiki (Matsuo Taisha), opened in 1996. Akira style (broadly speaking). Available at 17:15 with space for 3 customers before and 4 customers after.

"About a 7-minute walk from Shoukamatsu, the daughter of someone who can't drink seemed to be getting tired of accompanying me, so we decided to end the day at Shimabara Takematsu, which is a little less than a 10-minute walk away. The only sign is an old signboard for 'Ramen,' so be careful not to overlook it. We bought tickets from the machine for soy sauce ramen at 850 yen and miso ramen at 900 yen, then headed to the counter. The large, stark kitchen is kept clean. The proprietress handles the influx of customers alone... (Wow, that looks tough). While we waited, our ramen arrived. The broth was rich with pork bone flavor, a classic Kyoto style that was very good. I couldn't resist drinking the soup before even starting on the noodles. The noodles were slightly thin and straight, with a good match to the soup despite not being very high in water content. The thinly sliced chashu was a personal favorite. The ample Kujo green onions and bean sprouts were just right. As for the miso ramen, I tried a little of my daughter's choice. It had a noticeable garlic kick and a delicious, easy-to-understand flavor. It wasn't as rich as I expected, but it still paired well with the noodles. Our preferences were divided as expected, with me favoring the soy sauce and my daughter favoring the miso. By the time we finished eating, the master appeared, and the production efficiency increased all at once. It was a good experience."

A popular local ramen shop, Ramen Yuu, known for its tonkotsu shoyu soup topped with plenty of Kujo green onions. The lunchtime is always packed, with locals and even junior high school students frequenting the place. Located about a 15-minute walk from Kyoto Station and Tanbaguchi Station, it's recommended to park at a nearby coin parking lot due to the lack of parking. The exterior has a traditional noren curtain with the shop name, giving a glimpse of the inside through the window. Inside, there is an L-shaped counter with the kitchen, seating 12 at the counter and 2 tables. The quiet and handsome chef diligently prepares the ramen, maintaining the same artisan atmosphere from the past. Ordered the shoyu ramen.
The tonkotsu shoyu soup has a rich and nostalgic Kyoto ramen flavor. The noodles are medium-thin straight noodles with a low water content, and the abundant Kujo green onions are a distinctive feature. The thinly sliced chashu, as always, is delicious, especially when eaten with rice. It had been a while since I last had it, but it was delicious!

Eating ramen while walking around with ramen friends. We moved a bit to Kyoto before arriving. We visited Ramen Yuu. The location is in Kamihatecho, Nishinotoin-dori Omiya, Shimogyo-ku. We parked at a nearby coin parking lot and visited the restaurant. The interior of the restaurant has about 17-18 seats, including counter and table seats. This seems to be a popular shop in the Asahi group. This time, I chose soy sauce ramen with extra chashu. I handed over the ticket and waited for a while before it was served. Wow, it came with a lot of green onions and chashu. The visual presentation is appealing and looks delicious in the Asahi style. I took a sip of the soup and it was a pork bone base with a good amount of soy sauce, which I found delicious. I like to sprinkle some black pepper on top of it. The plenty of green onions also add a nice touch to the soup. The straight thin noodles were cooked just right and easy to slurp down with the soup. The chashu had a bit of fat but was thinly sliced, making it easy to eat and complementing the soup well. I finished it in no time. It was easy to eat and delicious. If I come back next time, I think I'll go for soy sauce again instead of miso.

My 4-year-old son and I went on a trip to Kyoto. When we arrived and started feeling hungry, we decided to go to a delicious ramen restaurant near the railway museum. Despite the cloudy weather, it was hot and we had to wait in line to get in. Thanks to the tablet, my son managed to wait patiently. However, once inside, he was glued to the tablet watching videos. So, I decided to let him be and enjoyed a beer and kimchi while waiting for our ramen. When the ramen arrived, I tried feeding it to my son, who had seemed uninterested in eating. To my surprise, he said, "Dad, this ramen is delicious! Can I have more meat?" It was like a switch had been flipped, and he started eagerly eating. The chashu was incredibly tender and the soup was so good that my son (and I) drank it all up, feeling satisfied.
