After several years, I visited this restaurant again. The owner is still as friendly as ever. I nostalgically gazed at the "fish menu" board with all the available options listed, and decided to challenge myself to try all the dishes available today. I wonder how many I can eat... Tonight, I am happily full once again. Tsukishima Nao Sushi is a place where you feel comfortable. I will definitely visit again.

This is a restaurant located near Monja Street in Tsukishima. Surrounded by monjayaki restaurants, it is rare to find a sushi restaurant in the area. I visited for lunch to try their seafood bowl. I ordered the Hikari Mono Don, which is a seafood bowl with only shiny fish such as horse mackerel, mackerel, and sardine - a rare combination in Tokyo. The freshness of the shiny fish was excellent, and the taste was surprisingly delicious. It's a good place to enjoy seafood in Tsukishima.

I visited this restaurant for lunch. I thought I was a regular here, but somehow I had never noticed this place before. When I looked at the menu, they had a "kohada don" with not only horse mackerel but also saury. I love saury. I was hungry, so I ordered the large size, and it turned out the large size was free. That made me happy too. When it arrived, the freshness and taste exceeded my expectations. The horse mackerel was fresh and the saury did not disappoint. All this for 1100 yen is amazing. On a side note, I saw that they have simmered kinki (Thornhead fish) on the evening menu. You can never go wrong with a restaurant that serves kinki! I will definitely come back again.

Through a friend's introduction, I often visit a sushi restaurant called Kisaragi. Located near Tsukishima and Kachidoki, many sushi restaurants in this area are known for their quality due to their proximity to Tsukiji. Kisaragi is run by a chef who used to work at a long-established sushi restaurant in Nihonbashi, serving authentic Edomae sushi. I recently tried their Harihari Nabe (whale hot pot) set, which included appetizers, a sashimi platter, whale miso grilled, whale tempura, red and white sushi, Harihari Nabe, and rice porridge. The set costs around 5000 yen. While my companions enjoyed the meal, I personally found it challenging to eat due to the unfamiliar taste. However, the whale skin and meat were fresh and had a good texture, and the rice porridge at the end was delicious. Kisaragi is a sushi restaurant with good value for money, and it is easy to visit for both lunch and dinner. The atmosphere is friendly, with many regular customers, but even first-timers are welcomed warmly by the owner. I visited for lunch, and the temperature of the sushi rice was perfect.

When you think of Tsukishima, you may think of monjayaki, but this time it's a sushi restaurant. The interior is small with a counter seat and two tables in the back. I visited on a slightly chilly day after Golden Week, perfect for enjoying hot sake. The three appetizers were well-seasoned. The sashimi was all fresh and delicious. The tuna collar had a substantial volume and was rich in fat. The shime of the saury was just right. I also enjoyed the negitoro roll, sea urchin, and salmon roe. Overall, I was very satisfied.

I went to Sumiyoshi Shrine for my first visit of the year and then decided to have lunch in Tsukishima. I skipped the monjayaki restaurant that was open since New Year's and instead stumbled upon this sushi place. When I entered, I saw a counter with about 10 seats, but since I had a baby with me, I was seated at a table in the back. Today, they were offering complimentary masu sake. Lucky me! However, they mentioned that they couldn't serve sashimi or omakase since Tsukiji Market was still closed for the New Year. I ordered the lunch sushi set (around 2500 yen) and even though the freshness was not the best, it was still quite delicious. I'm thinking of coming back again. By the time we left, all the counter seats were full. What surprised me more than that was the early American rock music playing as background music in the restaurant. It's rare to hear BGM in a sushi restaurant. The head chef and the other chefs were all very friendly and kept cracking jokes with my son, who was delighted. It was a unique sushi experience with such cheerful sushi chefs.

If the whole restaurant becomes non-smoking, this would be a great place even with a 4.5 rating. However, considering the location with traditional shops nearby, it may not be feasible for business (I hope Tokyo, where the Olympics are coming, will enforce smoking bans in restaurants like other advanced countries). For lunch, the chef prepares various rice bowl dishes using fresh ingredients sourced from Tsukiji market. When they offer dishes like sashimi rice bowl or shellfish rice bowl, those without allergies should definitely give them a try. The chef, who has a background in traditional Japanese cuisine, also serves creative and delicious seasonal dishes in the evening. Seasonal courses like summer anglerfish course or winter blowfish course, decided a few days in advance in consultation with the chef, are exquisite. I recently tried the anglerfish hot pot with a clear broth, which was surprisingly refreshing and delicious.

This is a modern sushi restaurant located on the left side when heading towards Monja Street from Tsukishima 3-chome traffic light. I started with the fresh rock oysters in front of me. It's my first time trying them this summer, and they are delicious. I also tried the sea squirts from Aomori once, and it's a food that makes you grateful to the person who introduced it to you. When I asked for grilled whale, it made me feel like a middle-aged man reminiscing about elementary school. One of the joys of sitting at the sushi counter is receiving the salted fish roe without saying a word. I always make sure to order the razor clams as well. The interior of the restaurant is modern, and I raise a toast to the head chef who works tirelessly without a break.

I used to visit this place occasionally. The reason I came here in the first place was for the cost-performance ratio. For a little more money, you can eat at Tsukiji, and for a bit more, you can go to Higashi-Ginza or Kyobashi. Tsukishima and Kachidoki are fierce battlegrounds for sushi restaurants. Being chosen among them means whether it's delicious sushi for under 10,000 yen. Well, it's decently tasty. The appetizers are also plentiful. It's understandable that there are many regular customers here. However, that's about it for me. These regulars tend to linger, smoke, and it's not a very pleasant atmosphere. Well, if you're told not to compare it to the customers in Tsukiji or Kyobashi, then so be it. On top of that, the owner gets carried away and chats with the regulars. It's like that every time. And it goes on and on. Sure, it's a service, and I'd be happy if I were treated that way, but going too far is not good either. I probably won't go there again. I'd like them to learn from the seemingly quiet "Tobikiri Sushi" in the neighborhood, the perfectly timed "Tatsumi Sushi," and the point-only "Sushi Zen" in how to treat customers.

Tsukishima is known for its monjayaki, but of course there are other dining options available as well. If you head north on Kiyosumi Street and see a supermarket on your left, turn left and you will find a sign for "Kisaragi." It is a small restaurant with a counter and one table in the back. The table area is separated from the counter, making it suitable for small group gatherings. Although it is labeled as a sushi restaurant, they offer a variety of dishes using seasonal ingredients such as grilled fish with miso and ginkgo nuts. They also have a wide selection of sake, making it easy to spend more money than intended. While it may be more casual compared to dining in Ginza, the quality of the sushi here is just as good as what you would find in Tsukiji. The chef is friendly and engaging, making it a pleasant place to linger over your meal.

We ordered a sushi platter for about 3000 yen for two people. It included one piece each of tuna, bonito, yellowtail, squid, sweet shrimp, scallop, shad, and mackerel. We wanted tamagoyaki, but they only had thin tamagoyaki with sushi toppings, so we skipped it this time. There weren't many high-end sushi toppings included. Maybe the variety was a bit lacking?
