On Saturday, February 17th, I traveled to Tokyo to watch my nephew's big performance for the first time. Since the performance was on Sunday, Saturday was free for me to explore around Ueno after getting off the Shinkansen. I checked into this hotel and then headed to Shinagawa for dinner and shopping. I returned to the hotel around 9 pm, feeling really full from all the food. The hotel has a relaxed atmosphere compared to standard business hotels, and the Superior Twin room they provided was spacious and comfortable. I watched Yuzuru Hanyu and Shoma Uno's gold and silver medal wins on TV multiple times before resting my tired body on the fluffy bed.
The next day, Sunday, despite feeling so full the day before, I was surprised that I could eat breakfast. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of dishes, including side dishes, salads, dressings, yogurt, fruit sauces, fruit toppings, natto, seaweed, tofu, grated radish, pickles, miso soup with seaweed, condiments for ochazuke, dashi soup for ochazuke, various breads, cereals, and more. The drink options included coffee machines, various teas, milk, and soft drinks. It may seem like a typical breakfast buffet, but the quality and variety of each dish were excellent. I was amazed by the attention to detail, such as offering fresh fruits with yogurt and multiple fruit sauce options. The breakfast provided a delicious and energizing start to the day.
Overall, the hotel stay was part of a package deal with Byu Travel Services, so I couldn't determine the exact hotel cost separately. Considering the regular Shinkansen fare, the hotel cost was essentially free. Just to be safe, I treated it as an additional expense.
