The appetizers and main dishes were all delicious. I was so hungry that I ordered one dish per person as soon as I sat down, starting with the parent-child bowl. I thought I had ordered too much, but it was so tasty that I finished it all with ease. I was so full that I ended up falling asleep right after. It was all so delicious and made me so happy.

I visited this restaurant for lunch and found that they have a wide variety of menu options. There was a local regular customer who seemed to be well-respected. The kitchen staff were young men. In the evening, it seems to transform into more of an izakaya style. There are only 4 counter seats and the rest are table seats. I had the daily special which came with a choice of white rice or mixed grain rice. It also included a small side dish, miso soup, and warm tea, all for just 900 yen. The portion was quite generous and I appreciated the value. This restaurant being located nearby is very convenient. Thank you for the delicious meal.

During these times when dining out is not possible, I remember the time I visited "Koyokitchen" in Higashiyama-zawa. The dishes embodied the soft and gentle image that the restaurant's name conveys. Each dish felt homemade and made with quality ingredients, especially the tempura which was my favorite. I don't usually visit Higashiyama-zawa, but this experience made me realize there are hidden gems in the area. I visited the restaurant because it was near a friend's house, but exploring new places like this can be really enjoyable.

I found a reasonable Japanese bar called "Kocho Kitchen" in front of Higashisasawa Station and decided to visit it immediately. The interior had a counter and about 8 seats, and since courses required reservations, I ordered a la carte. The tempura (avocado and broccoli) and dashimaki tamago that I ordered as a check point for new restaurants were both excellently prepared and delicious. I also enjoyed the "tuna belly" and "salad with three kinds of wood nuts and walnuts". One of the reasons I came to this restaurant was because the address seemed familiar. Looking at the official photos of the restaurant, some people may recognize it. The current location of "Kocho Kitchen" is the former location of the Japanese restaurant "Yoshifuku" that was used for a Japanese food premium off-meeting organized by the host in the early 20s of the Heisei era. In front of Higashisasawa Station, there is a Moroccan restaurant "Enrique Marcos" that was awarded the Bib Gourmand in the Michelin Guide 2021, and further south, there used to be a famous oden restaurant called "Okame". In such a neighborhood, with prices in the 6000 yen range and being considered reasonable, "Kocho Kitchen" was definitely worth a revisit.

First visit. While checking out the developments around Higashiyokozawa, I headed to this building in front of the station. When I entered, there were no other customers, but more people started coming in afterwards. I ordered the daily special set meal. Pork belly and garlic sprout miso stir-fry for ¥900. It comes with two side dishes and pickles. Both side dishes were refreshing and a good appetizer before the main dish. The pork belly stir-fry had a strong flavor and went well with rice. It had plenty of garlic sprouts, giving it a punch that would satisfy those who enjoy hearty meals. The atmosphere of the restaurant may vary between day and night, but during the day, it's a quick and convenient place for set meals. I might come back occasionally to try out different menu items. Thank you for the meal!

Thanks to the coronavirus, my small pleasure of stopping by at Sawayanagi before heading home has been taken away. This pleasure involves chatting with the friendly owner, enjoying a glass of reserved shochu with some simple snacks. This year, it seems like the season for edamame came early. The grilled edamame, taken out from the pod while saying "hot, hot," is a perfectly steamed delicacy. I sprinkle some rock salt provided at the shop, dip it with the skin, and enjoy it. Other recommended dishes include tuna sashimi, marinated mackerel, and a salad of spring chrysanthemum and seaweed. Don't let the coronavirus win! As a regular customer, I sincerely hope to be able to have my evening drink as soon as possible.

I revisited the restaurant to celebrate its one-year anniversary. The menu still features unique dishes. This time, I tried the marinated mackerel, sea cucumber vinegar, and homemade karasumi. The sea cucumber had a crunchy texture, the mackerel was thick and perfectly marinated. The karasumi and sake pairing was delightful. To finish, I enjoyed a warm Inaniwa udon. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Got off at Higashikitasawa Station and ordered the daily special set meal at the shop in front of me. On this day, it was Mapo Eggplant. The spiciness was mild and the taste was gentle, like home cooking, which I liked. The side dishes and miso soup were also delicious. It was nice to be able to choose between white rice and mixed grain rice.

The station building has been renovated and the railway tracks are now underground. Odakyu Line Higashisawa Station has completely transformed. The plaza in front of the station is currently under construction. I went to a Japanese bar called "Koyo Kitchen" located in a building that will likely be in front of the station once completed. They offer dishes like oyakodon and Inaniwa udon. I tried the daily special, "Pork belly ginger stir-fry set (900 yen)". It came with chicken daikon stew, pickles, and miso soup, which was a nice touch. The main dish of pork belly was made with good quality meat. When you mix the stir-fry sauce with cabbage and onions and eat it with rice, it's very satisfying. Both the taste and portion size of the set meal were great. I definitely want to go back to eat again. Next time, I might try the oyakodon.

"DELI offers bento boxes from the Japanese bar "Koyo Kitchen" that focuses on using no additives, no artificial flavoring, and domestically sourced ingredients. The Fried Chicken Bento (with 13 multi-grain rice) costs 1020 yen, and the daily special set meal (with 13 multi-grain rice) also costs 1020 yen. We chose the 13 multi-grain rice for both options. The bento box had a colorful arrangement with four large pieces of fried chicken, salad, and egg. The fried chicken had a well-seasoned taste and was delicious. The presentation was also beautiful. The daily special set meal included fried white fish with eggplant stir-fry, macaroni salad, carrot rapé, and pickles. The dishes had a gentle flavor and were tasty. The homemade feel of the dishes was appreciated."
