Eating Out Edition - Difference in Cost Performance: Feeling silly, I ordered a large serving of tonkotsu ramen at Hidakaya/Uguisudani. This is a story from a little while ago, but for lunch on 2/22 (Sat), I went to this restaurant. Hidakaya Uguisudani branch. I happened to stumble upon this place while walking before. I thought I'd have a quick ramen here this day. First, I checked the menu. The price difference between Chuka soba and other ramen is clear. In order to keep the price of Chuka soba the same for the past few years, it is clear that the prices of other menu items have been raised significantly. It seemed silly to order something other than Chuka soba, but I ordered a large serving of tonkotsu ramen (using a service ticket for 450 yen). After a while, the tonkotsu ramen arrived. The soup had a very tonkotsu-like color, with noodles, toppings of chashu, menma, nori, and chopped green onions in the usual Hidakaya style. I felt like I was being watched by the staff, so I sprinkled some pepper first and got ready. Sprinkling a lot is Miyaken's style. So, first the soup. Slurp, slurp, slurp. Mmm, delicious! Ramen is definitely better with tonkotsu than light soy sauce. Next, the noodles. Slurp, slurp, slurp. Mmm, delicious! Perfectly cooked. The chashu was well simmered and tender, with a strong flavor. This is tasty. The menma was quite ordinary. It's a ramen topping, so it's fine. The nori. It adds a nice touch. Chopped green onions. This is doing a great job. Added some shichimi. Tonkotsu ramen definitely needs shichimi. Slurping and slurping, I finished it all in one go. Phew, I ate it all. With this taste and volume at this price, the cost performance is satisfactory. Miyaken left the restaurant very satisfied. The end. As of this day, the number of meals eaten out (breakfast and lunch since January 2011, excluding the company cafeteria) is 1,217 meals, with an average price per meal including tax: 466 yen.
