When I came to Fukuoka, I definitely wanted to try one of the famous dishes, Mizutaki. As there were many tourists at this time, most of the well-known restaurants were fully booked. I ended up settling for yakitori, but then I noticed that Mizutaki was actually on the menu at this restaurant. Although they usually only cater to reserved guests, they kindly made it for me this time! The staff's service was excellent!

I visited this restaurant for a company dinner for the first time and had the Yakitori course for ¥4800. When I entered the second floor of the restaurant, there were Hawks uniforms and signed posters everywhere. I'm not sure if Hawks players actually visit the restaurant, but the manager is definitely a passionate fan. It's rare for a Yakitori restaurant to serve horse sashimi as the first dish, and it was not only plentiful but also fresh and delicious. Especially the Tategami (chicken neck) had more than the usual balance, but it was refreshing and tasty. The Yakitori, made with parts like heart and white meat, had an elegant taste that would please enthusiasts. It was a shame that there was no pork belly. I wonder what today's special dish was, haha. The grilled rice balls were nicely crispy and delicious as well. Located in Nishinakasu, "Taishizen" is a stylish yakitori restaurant with a calm atmosphere in the midst of nature. The rare liver was deliciously tender and the yakitori was also tasty. I highly recommend the horse sashimi, with various cuts that are incredibly delicious. The presentation is beautiful and the counter and private rooms make it a convenient place to dine. The charming master is also a plus. In addition to yakitori, they also serve water hotpot, motsunabe, and shabu-shabu. Definitely worth a visit!

On October 24, 2019, after enjoying some motsunabe for the first time, I returned to the hotel. One of the friends I will be meeting on this trip informed me that they will be arriving in Fukuoka today around 7:30 PM. When I asked them what they wanted to eat, they replied with "mizutaki." I was relieved because for me, it was a dream come true to have motsunabe and mizutaki on the same trip. After struggling to make a reservation at a few highly-rated mizutaki restaurants, I finally managed to secure a reservation for two at a yakitori restaurant called "Yakitori Taisen Nishinakasu-ten," which also serves mizutaki. We decided to meet directly at the restaurant. It was great to reunite with my friend and we entered the restaurant together. The interior was clean and had a nice atmosphere. We sat at the counter and looked over the menu. We decided to go for the mizutaki course priced at 3,800 yen, with drinks ordered separately. As two people from Hokkaido, we started with beers to celebrate our reunion. The appetizer of shredded cabbage was followed by a beautifully presented sashimi platter with dry ice effect. The sashimi was delicious, with three types of fish we had never tried in Hokkaido. Next, we enjoyed two skewers of tender and flavorful yakitori. Then came the chicken karaage, which was like a crispy fried chicken wing. It was perfect with drinks. I switched from beer to sweet potato shochu at this point. Finally, the main dish of mizutaki arrived. It was my first time trying a proper mizutaki, and it was light and flavorful with chicken meat and meatballs. We dipped the cooked ingredients in ponzu sauce, enjoying the delicate flavors. The vegetables soaked in the broth were also delicious. The meal ended with udon noodles cooked in the flavorful broth, a perfect way to finish the meal. After spending about two hours chatting and enjoying the food, we said our goodbyes as we both had plans the next day. Despite the last-minute reservation, the staff were accommodating and the food was delicious. So far, Fukuoka has not disappointed me. I look forward to more delicious meals and fun times ahead. Yesterday, I went drinking in the Haruyoshi area with a friend from Hakata! We went to a restaurant called "Daisizen" that my friend recommended, located on the 3rd floor of a building in Nishi Nakasu. We sat at the counter and had some ice-cold beer, which was delicious! We started with the recommended menu item, Goma Kanpachi (amberjack with sesame), which was amazing. In Hakata, dishes with "Goma" (sesame) are always a hit. We also had a platter of horse sashimi and ordered two servings of liver. For the grilled dishes, we left it up to the chef. My friend insisted that we must have liver and heart, so we went with that. The Goma Kanpachi was delicious, the horse sashimi was fresh, and all the grilled dishes were tasty. Hakata has changed a lot since I lived there, but the food is still as delicious as ever. Daisizen impressed me with the high quality of all their dishes, showcasing Hakata's culinary prowess. This restaurant, "Kono Daishizen", seems to have about 3 locations in Fukuoka. This time, I visited the one in Nishi Nakasu. The location is about a 5-minute walk from Tenjin Station, a little north of the Haruyoshi intersection, on the 3rd floor of a building. The interior has a nice atmosphere with a calm lighting and a chic black-based color scheme. There are about 3 signed uniforms of local Softbank baseball players displayed prominently. The staff are all young and energetic. The menu offers a variety of side dishes in addition to yakitori, such as fish and horse sashimi. You can also order yakitori by the piece, which is convenient. The yakitori is cooked using electricity. Here is what I ordered: - Seared sesame mackerel - Chicken heart - Chicken liver - Pork belly miso - Gizzard - Chicken tenderloin with shiso leaf - Chicken cartilage - Chicken thigh with green onion - Chicken skin - Homemade dumplings - Tomato bacon roll - Lettuce wrap - Grilled rice ball with cod roe - Freezing highball - Black Kirishima shochu (hot water) First, a fish sushi appetizer is served. Despite being a yakitori restaurant, the fish was delicious. The yakitori is brought to the table on a large tile-like plate. The yakitori has a generous amount of sauce and is cooked with a slightly loose texture due to the electric grill, resulting in a juicy taste. The sauce is on the sweeter side. The liver and other items were quite rare and tasty. The chicken skin seemed to be deep-fried once. The seared sesame mackerel came with dry ice underneath, creating a smoky effect, which was a bit flashy. I personally prefer a less sweet sauce. I noticed a charcoal zone next to the counter where the yakitori was being grilled, and wondered why they didn't use charcoal for the yakitori as well. Overall, the yakitori and side dishes were decent, and the ambiance was nice, making it a good choice for a date. Thank you for the meal.

During the coronavirus pandemic, I attended a gathering that had been planned before the self-restraint measures were put in place. As someone who works in the food and beverage industry, I have always loved this restaurant for its delicious food and great service, and I have recommended it to many people. That's why I was really disappointed this time. Due to the impact of the coronavirus, all restaurants are struggling with fewer customers, and this time, we were the only ones dining there. In this situation, one of the staff members was singing along to the music on the radio with enthusiasm while we waited for our food. Then, the yawning and banter between the staff members, which sounded even louder because there were no other customers, made me feel like leaving at that moment. However, I decided to stay and enjoy the food at least. The sashimi was as good as always, but the grilled skewers were overcooked and lacked the usual juiciness and flavor. I wanted them to serve us with pride and care, especially since there were only a few customers and we had chosen this restaurant during these difficult times. The constant singing along to the radio was really unpleasant for me.

I thought it was just a yakitori restaurant, but I was surprised that the sashimi and basashi were delicious too. The presentation was stylish and the staff were attentive. I will definitely consider using it for private occasions.

The yakitori was delicious with perfect grilling. The sesame mackerel is always great in Kyushu. The horse sashimi with marbled meat, mane, and liver were amazing. The hot pot was simple with Chinese cabbage, watercress, and chicken, which I think was actually chicken wings.
