A popular traditional house café in the Maruyama area, located close to Tozai Line Nishi 28 Chome Station. The interior has a relaxed atmosphere with slow music playing and antique furniture and decorations creating a nice ambiance. The menu offers a variety of drinks, light meals, and Japanese-style sweets, with the "strawberry zenzai" being particularly popular. I ordered the "strawberry zenzai with shiratama (served with tea and pickles)" for 1,100 yen. The friendly male owner, who blends in well with the atmosphere of the shop, brought it to me in about 10 minutes. The zenzai had plenty of strawberry sauce, with strawberry ice cream and sweet red bean paste inside. The red bean paste had a refined taste that paired well with the strawberry ice cream and sauce. The strawberry sauce was particularly delicious, with a fruity flavor that felt more like a strawberry compote. The sweet and sour aroma spread throughout my mouth. The combination of the sauce, red bean paste, and ice cream created a zenzai with a deep and rich flavor. The shiratama had a smooth texture and a chewy consistency, making it very pleasant to eat. I'm glad I chose the shiratama option (laughs). I enjoyed the strawberry zenzai until the very end, sipping on tea and enjoying the pickles. It was a truly delicious experience to have zenzai in such a quaint and charming shop!

I ordered strawberry zenzai with shiratama (rice flour dumplings) and cream zenzai. The strawberry zenzai had strawberry ice cream inside, topped with red bean paste, strawberry sauce, and more strawberry ice cream. It came with pickles and tea. The chewy shiratama and the red bean paste were both delicately sweet and delicious. Personally, I preferred the cream zenzai, which had a big scoop of vanilla ice cream and was not too sweet thanks to the lack of strawberry sauce. Both dishes had amazing red bean paste. This is a great place for red bean paste lovers.

The old farmhouse cafe with a cat was delicious, and the dango was also tasty. The tsundere cat was incredibly cute at this cafe. The tea was delicious, but the recommended drink is the refreshing and sweet plum soda juice that makes you want to drink it every time.

A nice middle-aged shop owner runs this cozy shop alone. It's conveniently located near the station and has a great atmosphere. Their sweets are delicious, especially the cold zenzai with plenty of white rice cakes. The red bean paste in their Japanese parfait is generous, and the apricot flavoring is fantastic. When in the area of Maruyama, I would definitely revisit this shop.

I wanted to try the red bean paste from Hokkaido, so I decided to try the zenzai at this restaurant. The place has a traditional Japanese house vibe with a terrace seat available, making it a very picturesque spot. I sat down without realizing and ended up sharing my seat with a cat. There are cats inside the restaurant, so be aware if you are not a fan of them. Be careful not to disturb the sleeping cats. I had a hard time choosing between the matcha zenzai and the strawberry zenzai, but the strawberry zenzai in the photo looked delicious, so I ordered that with white rice cakes. It came with tea and pickles. The zenzai had plenty of strawberry pulp with strawberry sauce, lots of red bean paste, and strawberry ice cream. It was incredibly luxurious! The red bean paste had a strong azuki bean flavor that complemented the strawberries well. Eating the white rice cakes with the strawberry sauce and red bean paste was a heavenly experience. I'm looking forward to coming back again!

Sapporo Chuo-ku. Exit from the West 28th Street Station 1 of the Tozai Line and head east on Kitago-Teine Street. Turn south at the next traffic light and on your right you will find "Maruyama Saryo". The Mixed Berry Juice is quite sweet with a hint of sourness, and the rice dumplings are soft and melt in your mouth. I will try them again in late March 2023. (Contains: wheat, soy, sesame - None: 680 yen for Mixed Berry Juice. The blueberry and strawberry flavors are noticeable, and it is quite sweet and thick. The bottom is cold. Rice Dumplings: 280 yen for two skewers, one with sesame and the other with kinako. The sesame one has a sweet and salty flavor with roasted sesame seeds on top, while the kinako one is not too sweet, which is good. Thank you for the meal~~~ Even if you have time~~~ From cat information to BM, actually I was lost in the rain and was about to go back to the station, but on the way back, I found Mimi-ta, a beautiful cat, looking this way. Without making a sound, I entered the shop. Mimi-ta was constantly talking to the local elderly men when I visited. On the other hand, Sabi-nokokko was sleeping in a chair near the entrance. The calm atmosphere of the shop allows for students to relax and talk about their reports. It was nice to be able to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. I was curious about what Ichigo Zenzai was, so I decided to order it. It turned out to be a dessert that combines zenzai, strawberry sauce, and strawberry ice cream. I was surprised because I thought zenzai was a warm dish, but it was delicious! It was filled with plenty of sweet red bean paste and mochi balls, so it really fills you up. I definitely want to go back again.

When I came here, I had already decided to try the strawberry zenzai with shiratama next. It was a bit more expensive, but it was delicious and had a good portion size. My friend was surprised by the amount, but was happy that the strawberry sauce was real. We also got to meet the cats, so it was a great experience.

I took a break at Maruyama Saryo, located north of Maruyama Station and very close to Nishi 28-chome Station. It's a traditional house cafe with cats wandering around. The building is made of old wood, with creaky floors. It was probably cold in winter. The house was built in 1952, so it's been around for 70 years. It feels like time has stopped inside. I ordered a warm zenzai, which was served in a tea cup with plenty of sweet red beans and mochi balls. Zenzai is the best when it's cold outside. The mochi balls were delicious. The owner was busy handling everything alone, so please be understanding and kind. Thank you for the meal.

I ordered strawberry sweet red bean soup, and the red bean paste was incredibly delicious. The rice dumplings were chewy, and the strawberry jam had a homemade taste, allowing the deliciousness of the strawberries to come through. The strawberry ice cream was not only strawberry-flavored but also had the richness of milk, making it very delicious. The roasted green tea was also very delicious.

A cozy cafe in a renovated old Japanese house ☕️ I visited on a weekday night. It's a calm and relaxing place. My friend and I had hotcakes, dango, and iced coffee. The dango was slightly warm and delicious. There were also two cats that added to the soothing atmosphere. Thank you for the meal ☆

Recently visited Maruyama Salon after a long time with a friend who first brought me here 8 years ago. Even after 8 years, it remains my favorite place among cafes and coffee shops. Maruyama Salon is a special place for me. Although they are currently not serving meals, their hot pot udon is delicious. On this day, I stopped by for my favorite cream zenzai after visiting a nearby beauty salon. The zenzai is as delicious as ever, and the cozy atmosphere is perfect for relaxing. There are also cute cats around, adding to the soothing experience.

I visited around 2 pm on Sunday and the place was almost full. There is parking space for 3 cars next to the store (spaces 12, 19, 20) but luckily I found a spot. I ordered a simple cold shiratama zenzai. It took quite a while to be served. The red bean paste was generously served and the shiratama was chewy and delicious. However, if you're not a fan of red bean paste, it might be a bit too much.

Opened in 1987, the old house cafe "Maruyama Saryo" was visited before heading to "La Sante". Looking for some tea, I stumbled upon this place and decided to go in. This establishment, which was renovated from a house built in 1952, exudes a charming atmosphere. The menu includes popular items such as "Strawberry Zenzai with Shiratama", "Warm Zenzai (with mochi)", "Shiratama Strawberry Zenzai", and "Matcha Zenzai (with mochi)" (served with pickles and tea). I chose "Ice Cream" (vanilla and strawberry mix) and "Blend Coffee (Mocha Blend)". The coffee is an original blend from the renowned Saito Coffee in Sapporo, with a deep roast and a moderate bitterness. The ice cream, served in a generous glass, is a mix of creamy vanilla and strawberry flavors. It's not too rich due to the lower fat content, but it seems never-ending. It feels like there's a whole 500ml of ready-made ice cream in there. There are no strange fruit sauces, which I appreciate. It seems that a popular cat is usually around, but unfortunately, I didn't get to see it today as it's on a break. Some customers come here specifically to see the cat.

I only stayed for about 40 minutes, but I felt like I could relax for about 2-3 hours. The tea and Japanese sweets were delicious, the cats were soothing, and my body was able to rest. The owner was very friendly and I will definitely come back! I'm looking forward to what I will eat next time (^ ^) There were two cats, but I only saw one briefly which was a shame (><) I hope to see them longer next time ✰︎ Thank you for the wonderful time.

Located in the Maruyama area, which is filled with many restaurants, this shop is a perfect spot for a lunch substitute. Just look at this strawberry zenzai, it's shiny and bright red, so cute! It consists of strawberry ice cream, red bean paste, strawberries, shiratama (mochi balls), and more strawberry ice cream on top. The strawberries are not in syrup or jam, but are compoted and chunky, which is delightful. Plus, the sweetness of the strawberries is balanced by the non-sweet red bean paste and shiratama, so you can enjoy it without feeling too overwhelmed by the sweetness. The matcha milk was also delicious, with the sweetness coming from the milk itself, not sweeteners. There were also locals enjoying their tea, showing how popular this place is. I can't wait to try their matcha zenzai next time. Whether you're alone, with friends, or with family, this place is recommended for any occasion! Menu items tried: - Strawberry Zenzai with Shiratama: 1,100 yen - Chestnut Zenzai: 900 yen - Matcha Milk: 660 yen [Opening Hours] 11:00-24:00 [Closed on] Thursdays [Reservation] Not required [Budget] Up to 1,500 yen [Address] 27-1-32 Nishi 27, Kitanishi, Chuo-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido

I had the Matcha Zenzai (with mochi, 1,100 yen) and it was delicious. The balance between the sweetness of the red bean paste, the matcha flavor, and the pickles was just right, making it enjoyable to eat without getting tired of it. The red bean paste had a refreshing sweetness. The authentic matcha had a deep flavor that made me want to drink it on its own. Even those who don't usually eat sweet things would enjoy this dish. I also tried the Strawberry Zenzai (with shiratama) and it was refreshing with ice cream in it, and also delicious. The quiet and calm atmosphere inside the restaurant, where you can also meet cats, made it a great time.

Third visit. "Matcha Zenzai (with mochi)" ¥1100. I love the atmosphere and taste so much that I keep coming back. The chestnut zenzai and strawberry zenzai were also delicious, but the matcha zenzai is recommended for matcha lovers because it uses authentic matcha. It's also recommended for those who don't like sweet things. I also want to order the same thing next time I visit ☺️ Thank you for the happy time.

It was a bit hard to find, located in a place that was not very obvious. It was a cafe that seemed to be converted from a private house, and there was a cat walking outside that was very soothing. The atmosphere inside was calm, with movie music playing in the background. I ordered a blend coffee with a bitter taste and a warm sweet red bean soup. The coffee arrived in about 10 minutes and it had a slightly bitter taste, very delicious. The red bean soup had a refreshing sweetness, also very delicious.

I visited this place after playing in Maruyama Park and wanted to relax a bit. The interior of the shop had a classic feel and the atmosphere was very nice. I had matcha zenzai. The matcha wasn't too sweet, so I was able to enjoy both the deep bitterness of the matcha and the gentle sweetness of the red beans.

[Maruyama Tea House] It's been a while since I sought out Japanese sweets here. While the coffee is good, this time I wanted something different... "Shiratama with sweetened mashed edamame" with hojicha tea and pickles. The appearance of the shiratama with sweetened mashed edamame was different from what I expected. The mashed edamame had quite a bit of bean shapes left and was a bit moist. I was surprised because I thought it would look more like sweet red bean paste. There are six large shiratama included. It might be a bit dangerous for the elderly due to their size! The hojicha tea goes well with Japanese sweets. It would be even better if the tea cup were larger. There is quite a bit of sweets and they are sweet, so... The pickles served as a chopstick rest are a nice touch! I really like the atmosphere and menu here, but the only downside is the restroom... It's a traditional Japanese style due to being an old folk house, but it can be quite challenging for someone with a leg injury.
