In Sangenjaya, there is a Seiyu store with two floors. The deli section is located in the middle of the first floor. The fried foods are displayed in a case with a door, which is reassuring for hygiene. The cheapest item is the croquette for 49 yen, but this time I tried the quail egg fry. The quail egg was large, with five in one serving. It was freshly fried, so the coating was crispy. It might taste better with a light sprinkle of salt.

Recently, the trend in my family has shifted from eating osechi dishes to sushi when we gather for New Year's. Last year, we used to get our sushi from a store near our home, but this year, since most major supermarkets were closed on New Year's Day, I ended up buying from a store called Seiyu that was open. Seiyu and Sunny (in the Kyushu region) make sushi and side dishes under the brand name Wakana. I tried to buy a pack for 990 yen, but they didn't have enough for the number of people I needed, so I asked a staff member and they made it for me on the spot after a 15-minute wait. I found out that they also accept reservations up to 4 days in advance, and I saw people picking up their pre-ordered appetizers on that day as well.

There has been a lot of talk about the delicious Korean seaweed sold at Seiyu for a long time. I was given some as a souvenir. Here is the popular Korean seaweed. It often sells out, so if you come across it, I recommend buying it. It is indeed delicious, and the reason is said to be that it has a strong seaweed flavor and less oil.
