One of my favorite traditional Japanese snacks from the well-established candy store Manendo, which specializes in Edo-period snacks, is Peanut Taiko. It consists of peanuts and small rice crackers coated in sugar syrup, creating a crunchy and sweet treat. The texture is quite firm, making it a bit challenging to bite into, but that adds to its appeal. The combination of the nutty flavor and sweetness spreads in your mouth and lingers. It comes in three flavors: plain, black sugar, and miso, with my recommended choices being plain and black sugar. The sweetness is more pronounced in these flavors, making them more delicious. The miso flavor lacks a bit of sweetness, but it might be a good match for alcoholic beverages. The size is quite large and seems high in calories, so I try to eat it slowly, but once I open it, I can't help but finish the whole pack. While my current favorite is Peanut Taiko, Manendo offers a variety of nostalgic Edo-period snacks to choose from!

This is a shop located on the right side of the road while walking towards Orange Dojo from the left side of the main hall of Sensoji Temple. It looks like a fancy shop at first glance, but it is actually a cute dagashiya (traditional Japanese candy shop). I found curry okoshi and strawberry okoshi at the storefront! Honestly, I have a personal image that "okoshi" is a snack that smells like old men and women (sorry to okoshi lovers). However, the packaging here is cute and would be appreciated as a souvenir for children and young women. The curry okoshi has a mild flavor with a spicy kick that lingers. The strawberry okoshi is like the usual strawberry snacks (like strawberry-flavored caramel corn), but it looks very happy being round and pink. The small shop also has many other unique dagashi souvenirs. The bags that the cashier put the items in for me are very cute with "for individual servings" written on them.
