怪しいグルメ探検隊
On weekend nights, Tokyo Station is crowded with people rushing home. I always struggle to decide on a souvenir to buy, but if I'm going to buy something, I prefer limited edition items over things that can be bought elsewhere. Although Yoku Moku stores can be found nationwide, the shops in Tokyo Station's Meitenkan sell limited edition items that can only be purchased in Tokyo Station. In November 2016, I wanted to buy the "Tokyo Honey Sugar" as a souvenir, but once again, I saw the words "New product, Tokyo Station limited edition". The new flavor of Tokyo Honey Sugar, and exclusive to this Meitenkan shop in Tokyo Station, was a must-buy. "Princess Blanc's secret recipe" adds plenty of white chocolate to the usual Honey Sugar, and it tastes really good! The normal Honey Sugar comes in a pack of 10, but for the same price, you only get 8 with this limited edition. But it's worth it. Oh, I'm weak when it comes to limited edition items.
In May 2016, I wanted to buy the "Tokyo Honey Sugar" as a souvenir, but once again, I saw the words "New product, Tokyo Station limited edition". It was "Tokyo Vanilla", a snack with a retro coffee shop ice cream flavor. So I decided to buy this today. It was 10 pieces for 1080 yen. When I got home, I immediately tried it. The crispy wafer with a vanilla ice cream-like cream filling. The crispy texture and sweetness are nice. It has a retro Showa-era atmosphere. However, it wasn't bad, but I felt like I've tasted this flavor somewhere before. It lacked originality for a new product.
One of the Tokyo Station limited edition products is this "Tokyo Honey Sugar". It was featured on a variety TV show, resulting in a long line of people trying to buy it. It's perfect for a small souvenir, with 12 pieces for 1080 yen. The sweetness of honey and the crispy texture are really nice. Another recommendation is the Crispy Caramelized, which is also delicious.
