I walked a little down the alley next to the "Brother" in front of Takadanobaba Station towards the "spring" direction and found a cafe and bar called "TAUNGGYI CAFE&BAR" on the 4th floor of a mixed-use building that opened last October. Although they have Myanmar sweets in the showcase, the highlight is being able to eat the dishes of "Nong Inlay," a Myanmar Shan cuisine restaurant that has apparently appeared on "The Lonely Gourmet," in a new restaurant with a good view. The order this time was as follows: a spicy meat salad with a strong spiciness, herb flavor, and lemon acidity unique to the Shan tribe, similar to Thai cuisine's "larb," while snacking on it with "beer for now," a Shan tribe's "tofu" made from chickpeas, which is thick and creamy like Japanese oboro tofu, and a delicious "tofu kawse" with ground meat, coriander, green onions, sesame seeds, nuts, etc., mixed with special sauce on flat noodles. I slurped it all up and it was delicious. By the way, a dish with almost the same recipe was sold at another restaurant under the name "tofu nue kaosue," but what does "nue" mean exactly?

After finishing a meeting, I wanted to take a breather so I stopped by here. Sitting by the window, I enjoyed watching the Seibu Line pass by. I chose a snack from the showcase, avoiding the banana ones as I don't like them and opting for the sesame ones instead. They were not too sweet and delicious. The coffee was served in a glass pot, and there were more than two cups. The taste was a bit difficult for me to enjoy, but considering the price of 880 yen, it was cheap.

Located in Takadanobaba, Town G Cafe & Bar offers rare authentic Myanmar cuisine! There is limited information online, so I decided to visit. It is a non-Indian restaurant affiliated with Nong Inlay, on the 4th floor of the same building. It is spacious and a hidden gem! This time, I ordered the classic Myanmar noodle dish Mohinga. It was delicious with a strong lemongrass flavor that you can't find elsewhere! #TakadanobabaGourmet

Shan's rice rolls? I ordered it, and it's not sticky rice, just regular rice. I wasn't sure how to eat what was on top and what was placed next to it at first. But by the time I finished eating, I figured out my own way of eating it. The white thing next to it is apparently garlic chives. It went really well with the slightly bitter tea. When I went for lunch this time, there were only a few groups of students, so I was able to relax quite a bit.

Located in a cafe or food shop adjacent to a building near Takadanobaba Station on the JR Yamanote Line. I found it on Tabelog and relied on the map to get there, but the entrance was hard to find. The restaurants in this building are mainly on the first and second floors, and you can't go to the fourth floor from there. To get to the fourth floor, you have to use the elevator at the back of the building, so it was quite confusing. Finally, I found the elevator and went to the fourth floor. Inside the shop, there is a food shop. Beyond that, there is a dining area where you can enjoy Myanmar cuisine. The previous customers seemed to be students from Myanmar, maybe? There was one group of Asian young people. The place was quiet, probably because the location of the shop was hard to find. I was seated where I could see the railway tracks, and I was given the menu. The menu clearly stated "Nong Inle," a shop located on the first floor of this building. Well, it seems like you can eat quietly here compared to the first floor. With all that, I made my food selection. I decided to try the shrimp curry instead of the unique catfish curry from Nong Inle. It takes quite a while to make. I slightly regret not choosing the daily recommendation, as it might have been faster.
[Shrimp Curry] This Myanmar curry had no Indian spices, and the acidity of the tomatoes was prominent. It had two large shrimp with heads, which provided a satisfying bite. It felt more like an Asian-flavored tomato soup than curry sauce when eating it with rice. The rice was long and slender, but not sticky, rather moist and well-cooked. It lacked the chewy texture of Japanese rice. I used to work in Tamachi, where there was one authentic Malaysian restaurant, and the curry I had there felt similar. It brought back memories from that time, creating a strange sensation. I don't particularly love it, but I occasionally crave curries from countries other than India. Perhaps it's fate. Thank you for the meal.

When I went to the first floor of the Inle restaurant, I was instructed to "go upstairs." It was a new development for me, despite being a long-time customer of Inle. I took the elevator up and discovered that amid the super recession caused by the pandemic, a new store had opened. And to my surprise, it was right next to a Burmese grocery store. The food menu was basically the same as Inle's lineup, with the food prepared downstairs and brought up using a small elevator-like service. The upstairs area was spacious, which made me feel at ease for future large gatherings. Additionally, there were plenty of dessert options, including my favorite banana and coconut cake as well as various types of mochi. As it was just opened, they even offered me a complimentary treat. It was delicious! The situation in Burma is challenging, but I hope that supporting this restaurant in any way can make a difference. I will definitely be going back!

Closer to Crie Renoir, with a calm interior. It's a hidden gem that Japanese people wouldn't notice unless introduced by someone. The space is wider and more relaxing than a regular cafe, so it's quite convenient. They mentioned they will be open late into the night in the future, so I'm secretly planning to use it for a last drink before catching the last train. They have a variety of desserts and quite a few light meals as well.

Shwe Yan Pyayiné comes with bread slightly toasted with butter, and it doesn't look as bad as it may seem. The Myanmar coffee has a good aroma and tastes as good as American coffee. The coconut cake-like dessert was light and easy to eat.
