The rice portion was slightly larger, but I wonder if the side dishes will be enough. The béchamel sauce had a sweet flavor, but overall it was pretty average. The dish had corn and onions, and the rice was cooked firm. The miso soup was white miso with seaweed. Overall, it's hard to give a clear evaluation, but it was affordable and decent. It has been over two and a half years since I left my workplace in Minami Aoyama, but this is a place I would definitely make a point to visit again. I looked at the many menu options and decided on the pork kimchi rice bowl set. The interior of the restaurant has an old cafe vibe, more like a coffee shop. It feels like a lodge in a resort area in Nagano. It was just before 12 pm and there were a few customers already. I was seated at a shared table and placed my order. A waiter, who had a nice old-fashioned cafe vibe, took my order. The salad arrived first. By then, the restaurant was getting crowded with people. There were a lot of customers coming in. I was surprised to learn that there was also a basement level in the restaurant. While eating the salad and looking around the restaurant, my rice bowl arrived with miso soup. Now, about the taste. It tasted like home-cooked food. The abundance of mitsuba (Japanese wild parsley) on top made it look more like a restaurant dish, but the sweetness from the onions and the use of them to add volume were similar to how I cook at home. It was delicious. Surprisingly, what happened next was even more interesting. With such a wide variety of menu options, I noticed that no one was eating the same thing. And then, a woman who came in alone ordered a kimchi hot pot for lunch! I didn't see until the end, but I think she might be the type to even have beer with her meal during the day? People were eating grilled saury, or some mysterious dish on a hot plate, it was all so diverse. Managing such a wide range of menu items for lunch must be really tough. Anyway, it was a satisfying meal. I had ordered the large portion, so my stomach was quite full. I had to really push myself to finish the last bite. The bill came to 800 yen. Wait, it seems like the large portion was free. How nice!
