As soon as you exit Sugamo Station, cross the signal and turn right to enter the "Sugamo Jizo-dori Shotengai" shopping street. There is a shop on the left as soon as you enter the shopping street. They have a variety of rice crackers with different flavors, and you can buy them one by one which is great. You can pick your favorite rice crackers with a basket in hand. They also have packed rice crackers and assorted packs for souvenirs. Visiting after 20 years, I felt the change in the atmosphere of the shop, reflecting the passage of time. One of the new things was the "Deco Senbei" where messages are written on rice crackers, making it a cute gift for celebrations or thank you notes. The writing is so beautiful that it feels like a waste to eat them. Inside the shop, there are various rice crackers lined up, making it fun to look at. The ones I purchased this time were: 1) "Natto Cheese" - Salad rice crackers coated with cheese, natto, and green onions. The cheese has a sweet taste that is not overwhelming and delicious. 2) "Negi Miso" - The miso is sweet and goes perfectly with the rice crackers. It is very tasty. 3) "Black Soy Sauce with Black Beans" - I like black bean rice crackers, so I bought them immediately when I found them here. The black beans were small (perhaps crushed?) and not very noticeable. It felt like eating a regular rice cracker. I prefer black bean rice crackers with whole beans in them, so this wasn't my preference. 4) "Thickly Baked Spicy" - Sprinkled with a lot of red pepper flakes. It's just right for me who loves spicy food. It's not too spicy! But this is just my personal opinion. It didn't feel as spicy as it looked. 5) "Round Cheese" - These are salad rice crackers about the size of a 500 yen coin. They are sprinkled with cheese powder. There are about 15 pieces in a pack. It seems like something children would enjoy. 6) "Thickly Baked Miso" - Sweet miso is coated all over, with a crunchy texture when you bite into it, ending with a sticky texture again. Since it's thickly baked, it has a satisfying chewiness. The miso flavor is really delicious! 7) "Thickly Baked 2x-10x Soy Sauce" - Starting with regular soy sauce rice crackers, it goes from 2x, 3x, 5x, to 10x soy sauce coating, getting darker and stronger each time. It's a pack of 5 pieces. The "Soy Sauce" one is a regular rice cracker with a light taste. When it reaches "2x," you suddenly feel the saltiness, and at "3x," you can taste the richness of the soy sauce. Then it jumps to "5x." At this point, before the saltiness or richness, you notice the hardness. Thinking "it won't break," you bite into it and it's crispy. You can feel the intensity of the soy sauce, making it hard to chew due to the thick soy sauce coating. The taste and texture were similar to the miso one. Finally, there's "10x." As expected, it's even harder than 5x! It's practically black with soy sauce coating. It's strong, but the impression of the texture is stronger than the taste. It felt like I was battling with the crispy and sticky texture in my mouth. It was amusing. I recommend it to those with strong teeth. 8) "Wet Senbei" - Moist with sweet soy sauce. It's soft and doesn't feel like a rice cracker. This is also delicious. It brings back memories of childhood. Everyone has their own preferences. I enjoyed all of them and had a delicious and enjoyable experience. Thank you for the meal.

I went to "Raijindo Honten," a hand-baked senbei shop near Sugamo Station in Tokyo, to try their soft serve ice cream. The shop was filled with various senbei decorations, creating a cute atmosphere. I ordered the Matcha soft serve for 400 yen and the Tofu Milk soft serve for 400 yen. Both were delicious, with the Matcha having a strong and delicious flavor, and the Tofu Milk having a good balance of sweetness and the taste of tofu. There were a few seats inside the shop where I could sit and enjoy my soft serve. It was a great experience.

Located right at the entrance of Sugamo shopping street. They sell freshly baked senbei at the storefront, and packaged senbei for souvenirs inside the shop. I bought the Jizo-shaped senbei as a souvenir. It was cute, but had a traditional crispy soy sauce flavor that was well-received. For eating on the go, they offer three types: soy sauce once, soy sauce twice, and well-done. I couldn't decide, so they mixed them all for me. They were still warm, crispy, and delicious.

I received a request from my mother to stop by the Jizo-dori shopping street in Sugamo. After purchasing the requested clothes, I planned on finding a place to relax and enjoy myself. Before buying the clothes, I decided to buy some rice crackers at this shop to satisfy my hunger. I bought the "Warase senbei" which had a nice soy sauce aroma. It was a bit hard but had a familiar taste with a hint of burnt flavor. Each piece was about a quarter of a large senbei and I ate one while walking. It was a nice snack to have with tea and perfect for a quick bite. Despite being over 90 years old, my mother can still enjoy these hard rice crackers. While I usually enjoy drinking, it's nice to have a snack like this once in a while while walking around.

This time, I went to Tokyo with my wife and stayed in Otsuka. The next morning, we had some time, so we moved to Sugamo and first visited "Takaiwa Temple, also known as the Thorn-Removing Jizo." While exploring the area, we found a shop. My wife loves rice crackers, so we stopped by the shop where they were grilling "Warimochi" on the spot. The lineup of "Warimochi" includes three types: soy sauce once, soy sauce twice, and burnt rice crackers. Prices as of June 2022 are 3 pieces for 250 yen, 5 pieces for 400 yen, 8 pieces for 600 yen, and 10 pieces for 700 yen. This time, we bought a pack of 3 pieces and enjoyed them immediately. The rice crackers soaked in soy sauce were delicious with a good soy sauce flavor, similar to slightly wet rice crackers. We enjoyed them. Thank you for the meal.

Near Sugamo Station, around the entrance of Togenuki Jizo Shopping Street. They offer freshly baked senbei at the storefront, and inside the shop, you can find a variety of rice crackers. Their unique method involves repeatedly soaking and drying the senbei, known as "juu-do tsuke," and they even have senbei that have been soaked ten times, resulting in a deep black color. While they are mainly located in Kanagawa Prefecture, they also have branches in Naka-Meguro and Arai Yakushi.

The five-times pickled rice crackers were delicious!! I bought five different types: five-times pickled, wet rice cracker, garlic rice cracker, green onion miso rice cracker, and natto rice cracker. Surprisingly, the best tasting one was the five-times pickled, which wasn't too soy sauce spicy but had a rich flavor. The wet rice cracker was sweet and not too salty. The garlic rice cracker was average. The green onion miso rice cracker was unique. The natto rice cracker had cheese and mustard, which I wish had more mustard. Don't natto usually have mustard? Next time, I'll try the ten-times pickled!

I visited Sugamo and was feeling excited. I decided to buy souvenirs for my friends at a shop that had a Sugamo vibe. Of course, I chose senbei (rice crackers). There were many types to choose from, but the shop with the best souvenir atmosphere caught my eye. I asked the shop staff for a recommendation, and they suggested "nurekari," which is a type of senbei made from wet senbei. As a big fan of wet senbei, I immediately decided on that. I also bought cute Jizo-shaped senbei. I was told that it's best to start eating from the bottom of the Jizo's body, so I followed that advice and started from the head. Overall, the senbei tasted delicious, although I don't eat senbei often so I can't judge too accurately. But I realized that if you visit Sugamo, you'll definitely want to buy senbei!

The Thorns-Removing Jizo in Sugamo is a popular temple known as the "Harajuku for the elderly," and the shopping street with the Thorns-Removing Jizo is called Sugamo Jizo-dori Shopping Street, where traditional stores line up. There are many traditional Japanese sweet shops selling dumplings, manju, and daifuku, but this shop sells senbei and okaki. As soon as you enter the Jizo Street Shopping Street from the station, you will find this shop. Senbei is displayed outside the shop, and they also sell cracked senbei. There are three types, including double-dipped and burnt ones. They all look delicious as they are freshly baked. I bought three pieces for 200 yen. I selected two double-dipped and one burnt. I brought them home to enjoy with beer. The texture is just right, not too hard, and the flavor is rich with soy sauce, which pairs well with beer. The burnt one, in particular, is delicious. For senbei lovers, this is a must-try delicious treat.

I stopped by because I was nearby for work. Oh, they are selling additive-free rice crackers! So I bought some. They are crispy, giving you that feeling of eating rice crackers, but the taste is delicious. It's better than buying the regular ones because it's additive-free. I used to be obsessed with them for a while.

I went for a stroll in Sugamo for the first time in years. For lunch, I went to Fight Gyoza. For souvenirs, I bought the original salt daifuku from Mizuno and a set of THE soy sauce from Raijindo Sugamo Main Store. The set includes soy sauce-flavored rice crackers for dipping once, twice, three times, five times, and ten times. The ten times dip rice cracker is quite salty, but if you like it, you will get hooked. Beer and highball were unstoppable. Soy sauce - well, it's normal, rather unsatisfying. Two times dip - has a rich aftertaste. Three times dip - makes you want beer. Five times dip - not enough with beer, so switch to highball. Ten times dip - quite salty, but it gradually becomes addictive and highball becomes more enjoyable. Thank you for the meal.

I love the shopping street in Sugamo ❤️ It always feels comforting to stroll from Sugamo to Koshinzuka. Today, I felt like buying something. I remembered I had never tried the "Jyudo-tsuke" from this shop before. It's a senbei dipped in soy sauce ten times. Let's give it a try! Oh, it's black. Let's break it. It's full of soy sauce flavor. Mmm, it's intense! As expected from Jyudo-tsuke. It was delicious! It may be that dipping it twice is tastier though. 😉

This is a review of a restaurant called Raijindo Main Store in the Sugamo area. The shop is located at the entrance of the Sugamo side of the Jizo-dori shopping street. They sell delicious rice crackers, including "Okoge-san," "Ichido Tsuke," and "Nido Tsuke," with prices starting at 500 yen for 11 pieces. The friendly and warm service from the staff adds to the experience of buying these unique rice crackers. The "Okoge-san" has a slightly bitter taste, perfect for adults. The "Nido Tsuke" is interesting as it is dipped in sauce twice before being grilled, resulting in a chewy texture and a rich soy sauce flavor. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience, and I look forward to trying their other products in the future.

This is a rice cracker shop located in the Jizo-dori shopping street in Sugamo. It seems there are several branches, but this is the main store as stated on their website. In the evening, as many shops were preparing to close, I was called out by this shop, so I stopped by. Their "Wari Sen" rice crackers, intentionally cracked to let the flavor soak in, seem to be popular. They were priced at 5 pieces for 250 yen or 11 pieces for 500 yen. I bought the smaller pack and enjoyed it at home later. The texture was crispy and had a nice firmness, with a delicious soy sauce flavor. My partner and I shared the 5 pieces and finished them in no time, feeling a bit reluctant as they were so good. I might go back for more next time.

There were so many senbei (rice crackers) at the main store of Raitei-do, I had a hard time choosing. I ended up buying mayonnaise cheese curry for souvenirs and black sesame for myself. They were so delicious that I finished eating them quickly!

Two types of beverages are offered with a cold bottle or paper pack for 200 yen. The portion is small but more than a sample tasting. I tried two types of soy sauce rice crackers (you can choose from three types, but the burnt flavor is too strong on one of them, overshadowing the rice cracker flavor. I chose the other two types) along with a bottle of tea and a whole plain rice cracker for 200 yen. I paid 400 yen and felt satisfied. There are chairs available. The owner's way of speaking is not top-notch in terms of customer service, but it is pleasant and kind.

Freshly made items are packed right in front of you. They let you taste before you buy in bulk. I want to try a variety of flavors so I go for the assorted pack "Aji Rakusen" and bulk items.
