Today's lunch with my dad at Waseda was at Osho. Six years ago, I had my first visit to Osho in Kanda, and this was my second visit in my life. When we arrived at the restaurant, there were customers sitting outside, but we were quickly seated at a table inside, so I realized that the customers outside were for takeout. There were dividers between the tables for splash prevention, but the space between the tables was not very wide, so it was a bit difficult to get to the sofa seats at the back because of the dividers. My dad ordered the limited-time spicy mapo tofu dipping noodles set (1,034 yen), and I ordered the chilled Chinese noodles (748 yen) and 3 gyoza (143 yen). While waiting, I looked at the menu again and realized that the prices displayed were excluding tax. So, although it may seem cheap at first glance, the prices are quite high when you consider the tax. The restaurant was quite busy, so we had to wait a while before our noodle dishes were served first. The chilled Chinese noodles were topped with char siu, cherry tomatoes, shredded egg, cucumber, and imitation crab. The spicy sauce was served in a separate dish. When I tried the noodles with the sauce, the sauce was delicious but the noodles were too thin. Despite the reasonable price, it lacked in satisfaction. The char siu topping was okay, and the imitation crab was thickly sliced, but it was still imitation crab after all. In that sense, the chilled Chinese noodles felt expensive. While eating the chilled Chinese noodles, the gyoza was served, but these gyoza were also small and had a hollow inside. The gyoza only emphasized the burnt taste at the bottom. I thought the same when I visited the Kanda branch, but the gyoza here is not something that makes you go "Wow, delicious!" Overall, I felt that 891 yen was expensive for the taste and portion. So, even though it has been 6 years since my last visit, my impression of Osho's gyoza remains unchanged, unfortunately. I hope they continue to do their best and not be defeated by the coronavirus. Thank you for the meal.
