Ramen Ikedaya in Takano Tamagaoka-cho, Sakyo-ku, Kyoto. It had been about 3 years since my last visit, and as usual, the popularity of this place is evident from the constant line of customers. One thing that made me happy this time was that they were able to add extra pork, which wasn't always possible in the past depending on the day's preparation. The extra pork cost an additional 250 yen. The small size ramen with extra pork had a visually striking appearance with a rich and flavorful tonkotsu soy sauce soup, plenty of garlic, and back fat. The thick, flat noodles were cooked perfectly and had a nice chewy texture. The toppings included chunks of pork, bean sprouts, boiled cabbage, back fat, and red chili pepper. The pork was tender and flavorful, adding to the overall deliciousness of the dish. It was my first time eating here in a while, and it was incredibly delicious. When it comes to ramen in Ichijoji, Ikedaya and Gundan are the top choices. It's worth mentioning that Azuki-nee-san finished her entire bowl of ramen with all the soup, and before that, she also did the same at Daichi Asahi near Kyoto Station.

I visited the restaurant just before closing time at around 2:30 pm. They kindly welcomed me even though it was late. I ordered a small ramen which was 300g for 950 yen. I was surprised that the small size was actually 200g, but it was so delicious that I finished it quickly. Thank you for the meal.

Arrived at 12:13 for lunch. Luckily, there were only two people in line, so I bought a ticket from the machine and waited. I chose garlic as a topping. The soup was flavorful, the noodles were not too firm, and the pork was tender, making it an easy-to-eat ramen. The noodles were surprisingly easy to slurp, but I felt like it could use a bit more vegetables, so next time I'll add extra veggies. Left at 12:51. It was a delicious meal.

This was my first visit. I arrived 10 minutes before opening, but there was already a line of about 15 people. I waited 30 minutes after opening to enter. It seems like the wait time is about 10 minutes per group of 4 or 5 people. I ordered the "Petit" ramen with garlic and light on vegetables. I debated adding extra pork, but it seemed to be sold out as it wasn't listed inside and the board was turned over. The portion size was just right for me. The emulsified soup was quite salty and strong to drink on its own, but it tasted delicious when mixed with the noodles and vegetables. The noodles were cooked perfectly firm. And the pork was the highlight - tender, fatty, and no need to ask for extra fat. The water didn't have a chlorine smell. They don't sell drinks inside, so you'll need to prepare your own black oolong tea, for example. Also, there are no tissues provided, so bring your own. The line was long even when leaving, probably making it one of the longest lines in Ichijoji.

The interior has been repainted and looks very clean. It was my first visit in 3 years. The pork here is the most delicious. It's so tender. The soup is emulsified. This time, I added extra pork to the small 300g size. I was a bit flustered from my long absence and ended up with a misorder. I asked for extra vegetables, but my request for extra extra vegetables didn't get through. As a result, I ended up feeling satisfied because I was so full. It cost 1,200 yen for the small size with extra pork for 250 yen. The soup is a bit salty, but after not having it for a while, it tasted delicious. This is one of the most popular restaurants in Ichijoji, and on Fridays, they only open for dinner, so I had to wait for about an hour before being seated. I am satisfied.

Ever since reopening on March 1st, this restaurant has been attracting a passionate fan base, with lines that never seem to end. Despite being a light eater, I ordered the dish with "less garlic and fewer vegetables" and was completely satisfied with the portion size. The meat, in particular, was generously served and incredibly tender, making the flavor of this dish truly exceptional.

Order: Ramen Puchi 200g (930 yen) This restaurant serves ramen with an emulsified soup base, so even if you order it Jiro-style, the taste is mild and recommended for beginners. Be prepared to wait in line for about an hour at this popular restaurant.

I wanted to eat something junky, so I ordered the soupless ramen with raw egg, vegetables, caramel sauce, seven spices, and pepper, which made for a very delicious combination. The pork was tender and went well with the noodles. The restaurant will be closed for renovations until February, but it seems that a new branch will open in Takadanobaba in January, so I plan to visit there as well.

I went there quite a while ago, and it was my first time having Jiro-style ramen in a long time, so my excitement was through the roof! I skipped lunch and went in the evening, and the satisfaction level was off the charts! I've only been to two Jiro-style ramen shops so far, but I'm hooked enough to come all the way here from home, even though it's far!

On Sunday afternoon, there was a bit of a line at this restaurant with strong looking big brothers. I also saw some girls who seemed to be brought by their boyfriends. We parked at a nearby parking lot. This restaurant seems to have branches in Fukui City and Suita City as well. The impact of their ramen is on par with the original Jiro Ramen. Even though there is a Jiro Ramen Kyoto branch nearby, the popularity of this place is different. If you don't want too much garlic, make sure to ask for it because they tend to put a whole clove in otherwise. The meat chunks are plentiful and the bean sprouts are abundant. The menu is just this one option with no rice, and it's considered a regular size (see photo). If you're feeling confident, I recommend giving it a try.

The Jiro-style ramen. The interior of the shop is small and not very clean, but that's what makes it good. You have to serve yourself with wet towels and water. After eating, you are expected to wipe the table before leaving. As for the ramen, I chose the "Petit" size this time since it was my first time. In conclusion, even the "Petit" size was quite filling. It may be basic for those who always eat Jiro-style ramen, but for me, who has been eating less lately, it made me quite bloated. In terms of taste, it was great. The soup had a strong soy sauce flavor but it was not too overpowering, striking a perfect balance. The noodles were very thick, slightly different from my preference, but it was the right thickness for a Jiro-style ramen. I added garlic, which was definitely the right choice. The punch of garlic added to the overall deliciousness. In conclusion, the taste was excellent, the portion was quite generous. Those with small appetites might find it challenging. However, it's a representative taste of Jiro-style ramen. I highly recommend trying it at least once.

Ramen Dai offers a unique Jiro-style ramen with thick, emulsified soup that is rich in pork flavor and a hint of saltiness from soy sauce. The pork is tender and flavorful, and the vegetables are plentiful. Ikedaya is known for their Jiro-inspired ramen using thick noodles and Kaneishi soy sauce, gaining popularity as one of the top Jiro-inspired ramen shops in Kansai region. Overall, Ikedaya is considered to be one of the best Jiro-inspired ramen shops in Kansai, following closely behind the original Jiro shops.

[Store 464] Ikedaya This time, I departed for Kyoto, a place I love, to embark on a journey to Ikedaya, a famous Jiro-inspired ramen shop in Kansai. I witnessed the urban quality in everything from the atmosphere of the shop, the clientele, and their approach to ramen. The taste was unquestionably delicious, and there was no need for words - it was a complete victory. Today was another amazing slurping experience! Business hours: 11:00-14:00, 17:00-23:45 Closed on Thursdays Phone: 0596-23-3391 Budget: From 500 yen Location: 33-9 Takanotamaokacho, Sakyo-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture Notes: No reservations, no cards, no electronic money For more details about the restaurant, visit: [Link to the blog post]

I had plans nearby and visited by car. The Ichijoji area is famous for being a battleground of ramen shops. There are so many delicious-looking ramen shops, and they are always crowded. I visited before 12 o'clock and waited for about 20 minutes. This time, I ordered the soupless 300g ramen. It had a striking appearance with pepper and shichimi spices, and a raw egg in the middle. It was a very hot day, and the heat inside the shop was intense. Eating ramen while sweating was an amazing experience! I really liked the pork here. The rich soy sauce flavor soaked into the meat, increasing my appetite. The soup had a mild taste, but it perfectly complemented the toppings and noodles. There was a reason why I was willing to wait to eat here. *Photo: Soupless 300g

Since I last visited this place many years ago... it has been a whopping 7 years. Back then, I had no idea about the Jiro-style ramen and just thought, "Wow, the noodles are thick. There's a lot of vegetables. It's satisfying to eat." I was a naive young person back then. But now, after 7 years, I revisited with a better understanding of the Jiro-style concept. I truly savored the taste of Ikedaya's ramen. It was incredibly delicious. However, because the flavors were so rich, I found it a bit heavy towards the end. I enjoyed the thick noodles and extra toppings, and savored a bowl of 500g of noodles.

I stopped by during my trip. I could only visit one Jiro-style ramen place due to my schedule, so I was torn, but choosing this place was a great decision as it was very delicious. I grew up in Meguro, frequented Takadanobaba and Hibari, and occasionally visited Sekiuchi, so this ramen tasted almost perfect to me. However, there were some bones in the pork, which surprised me with a sharp pain when I bit into them, so I had to deduct a star. The flavor was rich, the noodles were soft, and it was satisfyingly delicious. The next time I go to Kyoto, I think I will try a different restaurant as an experience, but if there is one nearby, I will definitely keep coming back for this taste. It made me feel happy.

First visit. The pork was tender and the broth was well-emulsified! Ramen Ikedaya (Kyoto, Ichijoji). Ordered the regular ramen (300g noodles) with extra pork, raw egg, and ginger. No garlic, extra vegetables, a little spicy. Had to add some chili powder myself. Arrived at 18:55, waited for 16 people (the turnover is slow). Last order is at 19:30 (ticket sales end), and they close at 20:00. I have also been to the Suita branch.

Recently, I have been frequenting Ichijoji in Kyoto. It's a student town and one of the top ramen battlegrounds in Kyoto. The always crowded Ikedaya was relatively empty today, and I even saw some women. The interior of the shop has only a counter, and when ordering, they say, "The regular size here is small." The ramen that came out was indeed more than a small size, despite being called small. It's a thick, rich ramen similar to Jiro-style. I probably could have eaten it in the past, but now this size is my limit. There were even younger students eating extra-large portions. As I age, my taste buds and stomach have changed, and these heavy ramen dishes have become tough to handle.

Ichijoji's strongest ramen shop, but not suitable for me. Ichijoji is a ramen street, and I think Ikedaya is currently the most popular ramen shop. There is always a long line at this shop. The taste is too strong for me. Not only the quantity, but also the salt content is incredibly high, so it gives me stomachache. It's delicious, but be careful as it may not suit everyone.

Today, I visited a popular ramen shop in Ichijoji, Sakyo-ku, Kyoto. Ramen Ikedaya is a Jiro-style ramen shop that always has long lines in the competitive Ichijoji area. To avoid waiting in line during the cold weather, I decided to go on Christmas Eve when it seemed less crowded. As a result, I was able to enter the shop without waiting in line. The system is to purchase a meal ticket first. It's a typical ticket machine commonly seen in Jiro-style shops. The menu offers only one type of ramen, with the option to choose the size. The machine also provides a guide for noodle portions, which I found helpful. The shop has only counter seats, and customers are expected to pick up their own chopsticks and water, which is typical of Jiro-style shops. Before serving, they ask, "Would you like garlic?" which is another common practice in Jiro-style shops. It's customary to order the amount of vegetables, pork fat, and garlic oil along with the garlic. I ordered a small ramen. The bowl was filled with bean sprouts and a large piece of pork, making it seem not so "small" in size (a compliment). The soup was rich with pork flavor and surprisingly mellow. The thick noodles were chewy with a wheat flavor. The pork was tender and delicious. I managed to finish the noodles but couldn't drink the soup. It was a while since I had authentic Jiro-style ramen, and it was quite an experience. Next time, I think I'll try the "petit" size under the "regular" size. The junky feel of Jiro-style ramen is just great!
