I was in the mood for something sweet, so I got a peach shortcake to go. It cost just under 1000 yen, so it's a bit pricey, but the taste is delicious. They offer a wooden spoon for 10 yen, but I always end up wanting a fork too.

I visited in June. Right now, they have Apple Mango and Crown Melon flavors! I chose the Apple Mango tart and the Crown Melon shortcake. The balance between the refreshing fruitiness and the sweetness of the base is always great and delicious here♪

Visited Daimaru Sapporo for some errands. My family asked me to bring back some sweets if I was going there. Explored the basement floor of the department store. Found a shop called "Northman Daimaru Sapporo Store," which is run by a traditional Sapporo confectionery store called "Senkyuan" under the umbrella of Kinotoya, that I had never tried before. Unfortunately, it was hard to get my hands on their products as usual. Gave up quickly and went to a pop-up shop instead. The sweets section at Daimaru Sapporo is always popular. It seems like Daimaru Sapporo is now leading the way in sweets compared to the long-established department stores like Marui Imai and Mitsukoshi Sapporo. Chose the "Amaou Strawberry Sablé Tart" for 1,296 yen, as it was a limited-time offer. The name "Amaou" caught my attention, but I don't think it's something I would personally buy and enjoy. Maybe it's more suitable as a souvenir from Tokyo. Overall, I'm not much of a sweets person, and there were quite a few sweet-toothed individuals lining up for it.

I ordered the cocoa tart with walnuts and hazelnuts in a whole size. It was my second daughter's birthday party, but they do not write names on the birthday plates as a service. They also provide up to 25 candles as a service, but I already had 20 candles from a previous purchase.

After shopping at Shinjuku Takashimaya, I was drawn to a colorful fruit cake and decided to take it home. The cake was from "FOUNDRY," known for using seasonal fruits in their sweets. During this season, they recommended sweets made with two types of strawberries: fragrant "kaori no" and large, sweet "amaou." The most popular item was the strawberry shortcake, a classic choice when it comes to strawberries. Another recommended option was the chocolate tart made with "setoka" oranges from Nakajima, Ehime. These oranges are known for their intense sweetness. I bought three different cakes: Fukuoka-grown amaou strawberry tart, kaori no & amaou strawberry shortcake, and setoka & hazelnut cocoa tart. The amaou strawberry tart had a generous amount of strawberries on top, while the shortcake had fresh strawberries sandwiched between sponge cake layers. The setoka & hazelnut cocoa tart had a delicious combination of setoka oranges and chocolate on a tart base. Overall, the cakes looked impressive but were slightly underwhelming in taste considering the price. They may be more suitable as souvenirs rather than for personal consumption. There are other patisseries in Shinjuku Takashimaya that may offer more satisfying options.

The pudding sandwich has a light amount of whipped cream, making it easy to eat. However, there is not much Mont Blanc cream on top, and only about one chestnut, so the chestnut flavor is lacking.

On Sunday afternoon, I visited this shop after a long time to buy a gift for my home. This shop is known for its cakes made with plenty of seasonal fruits. My favorite is the luxurious cake with juicy fruit flesh from ripe fruits. - Shine Muscat and Akanko Dairy Farm Shortcake (697 yen including tax) A shortcake with a fluffy sponge cake, combining the rich sweetness and elegant aroma of Shine Muscat with Akanko Dairy Farm fresh cream. You can fully enjoy the charm of Shine Muscat. - Shine Muscat Tart (724 yen including tax) A tart where you can enjoy juicy Shine Muscat with Elderflower sauce. The crispy tart crust and the rich sweetness of Shine Muscat create a delightful balance.

On Saturday at 6:30 pm, I stopped by for the first time in a while to buy a souvenir for my home. There was a small line forming. - Crown melon from Shizuoka and shortcake from Akanko Dairy Farm The shortcake had two ripe and sweet melons with skin on top, along with two small melons. There were also chunks of sweet melon between the sponge and whipped cream. It was a fruit cake where the flavor and sweet juice of the melon spread in your mouth. - Tart with large Amaou strawberries from Fukuoka This luxurious tart had plenty of large strawberries on top, with a buttery tart base that was also appealing. The fresh strawberry's acidity combined with the sweetness of two types of cream was exquisite, and there was a syringe filled with condensed milk for you to customize as you like.

While looking for a souvenir at Shinjuku Takashimaya, I came across Foundry's butter sablé. I knew Foundry's cakes were delicious, so I decided to buy the butter sablé as a gift. I also tried one myself and was surprised by its soft texture. I had imagined sablé to be a harder cookie-like texture, but this one was moist and elegant. The apple jam-like filling inside had a subtle apple scent that spread gently in my mouth and was very delicious.

Takashimaya Shinjuku store has a cake shop that offers only takeout, no eat-in option available. Foundry has been expanding to many department stores in Tokyo recently. Although their prices are slightly high, their cakes look very beautiful and come in sturdy packaging, making them perfect as gifts. I purchased two cakes for home use this time: Shine Muscat tart for 724 yen (tax included) and Aomori Red Apple Tart Tatin for 702 yen (tax included), which is a new product. Both cakes looked incredibly beautiful that I couldn't resist taking photos. However, after trying both, I have to say the taste is just average. Especially the Shine Muscat tart, even though I understand the price is high, I still feel it's a bit expensive. But in Japan, the tradition of giving "omiyage" (souvenirs) is strong, so there is definitely a demand for these kinds of cakes.

I stopped by Shinjuku Takashimaya and found that FOUNDRY had released new autumn items, so I decided to purchase them. The "New Chestnut and Free-Range Egg Pudding Sandwich" features a combination of the autumn classic Mont Blanc and the popular free-range egg pudding, all in one cake! The Mont Blanc is rich and flavorful without being too sweet, and the refreshing whipped cream and pudding are sandwiched between sponge cake, allowing you to enjoy different ratios of cream and pudding with each bite. While each individual cake is very appealing, this one is recommended for sharing among 3-4 people. Although the beautifully decorated fruit cakes at the shop caught my eye, I opted for the Mont Blanc and pudding combination, which was also very delicious. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

At the beginning of June, on a weekday, I was working in Shinjuku where the number of infected people is increasing. After finishing work and having lunch with Vietnamese food, I decided to visit Shinjuku Takashimaya. It had been a while since I last visited Shinjuku, and it had been about a month and a half since I last visited the food section of Takashimaya in Nihonbashi, Yokohama, and Futakotamagawa. I saw a few customers in the food section on the first basement floor. My main purpose of the visit was to buy some tea from Ippodo that was requested by my family, but I also wanted to buy various other things since I was there. While wandering around the floor, I came across this cake shop. It is a business entity of Aichi Prefecture's Prestir, which also operates Glamacy New York, Keith's Manhattan, and Buzz Search, and specializes in sweets using seasonal fruits. The shop's current recommended fruit for this season is the "Shizuoka-grown Crown Melon." After researching later, I found out that Crown Melon is a brand of a variety of melon with a good aroma, which is a type of Earl's Melon, a general term for melons with a good scent. I had thought it was a new and affordable variety developed by "Sakata no Tane" like Andes Melon or Prince Melon, but it turned out to be a high-end variety. The cakes made with this premium Crown Melon come in two types: shortcake and tart. I bought the former, officially named "Shizuoka-grown Crown Melon and Akanko Rakunokka's Shortcake," and took it home. When I tried it at home, it was truly delicious. The melon had a luxurious taste typical of musk melons. The cream from Akanko Rakunokka was light in flavor and not too sweet. The sponge was fluffy. Considering the taste and luxurious appearance, the price of 713 yen including tax was actually reasonable. It's cheaper than Takano for fruit-based cakes. Buying it was the right decision.

After a long time, I decided to try the bakery again. I used to avoid it because the cakes were not that great, even though the fruits were delicious. However, I couldn't resist the temptation of Miyazaki mangoes. I ended up getting a Miyazaki-produced ripe mango decoration cake for 3,456 yen. I was originally planning to get a mango tart or a mango shortcake, but I found a small flower-shaped entremet that caught my eye. This time, I was pleasantly surprised by the delicious cake. The mango was so ripe and melted in my mouth.

Today's seasonal fruits were Ehime's Kaori strawberries, Fukuoka's Amaou strawberries, and Shizuoka's Crown melon. I bought a melon tart (price forgotten, around 700 yen) and a strawberry shortcake (724 yen). The strawberry shortcake was delicious with its sweet and tangy strawberries, and the sponge cake was also tasty! The melon tart came with brandy sauce on the side, which you could drizzle on top. The alcohol flavor was quite strong, so I only added a few drops for fragrance. The melon was delicious and the tart was crispy and tasty.

I was wandering around the department store basement looking for something sweet to buy when I came across this shop. It seems like a fairly new store, I had never seen it before. What caught my eye was the butterscotch. It's a roll cake with butter-flavored cream inside. When I tried it, I found the cream to be a bit lacking and overly sweet. The cake was a little hard too. I personally prefer it to be a bit softer. I wish it had a bit more buttery flavor even if the sweetness was toned down.

Foundry, located on the basement floor of Shinjuku Takashimaya, offers a popular item called "Domestic Apple Butter Sablé." I tried it and found that the thin and moist texture of the sablé makes it easy to eat compared to apple pie. Although the apple flavor is not very strong, I appreciate the balance between the buttery taste of the dough and the sweetness of the filling. Aside from the butter sablé, they also have a chocolate sablé made with domestic apples, which I would like to try next time.

Located in the basement of Shinjuku Takashimaya, this chain of Western confectionery shops has been expanding its number of stores recently. They focus on using seasonal fruits in their desserts. I wanted to buy a shortcake, so I chose this shop because their concept is clear. I purchased: - "Yamagata Marguerite Maria and Akanko Dairy Farm Shortcake (¥638)" 3.0★★★ - "Italian Mont Blanc (¥697)" 3.5★★★☆ - "Japanese Chestnut Cream Puff (¥398)" 3.5★★★☆ When I opened the box, it got turned upside down, which was disappointing. This has happened to me before, and I can't seem to bring the cakes home neatly for some reason. The "Marguerite Maria" shortcake had a topping of the most fruit-forward Western pear. The pear seemed to be cooked, not raw, and had a light and easy-to-eat flavor. The sponge was fluffy and crumbly, reminiscent of old-fashioned high-quality cakes. The Akanko cream was light yet had a rich taste. The "Mont Blanc" had custard mousse and cream inside, with a candied chestnut on top and an almond powder meringue base. The overall sweetness was strong, so I would prefer more cream than custard mousse. The crunchy meringue texture was impressive, making it a dessert I would want to have again. The "Japanese Chestnut Cream Puff" was limited in quantity and had a two-layer structure of chestnut cream and cream. The chestnut cream had a strong and delicious aroma, making me want to eat more. The cream was also impressive, as mentioned earlier. The downside was the poor cost performance, so I feel like the Japanese chestnut cake type might be better. I would like to revisit during the favorite Japanese chestnut season.

Holiday at 5pm. It was empty. I was drawn in by the appearance and decided to purchase it. It looks really delicious. It has a good flavor, a bit rich. I might not be able to finish this amount by myself... but it's delicious. Mont Blanc, cakes, you can't go wrong with these. The rich taste is nice. I'll definitely go back.

I visited a cake shop in the basement of Shinjuku Takashimaya on a weekend afternoon. I bought a Shine Muscat cake and a Mont Blanc cake to eat at home. The Shine Muscat cake was decent, thanks to the Shine Muscat flavor. The Mont Blanc cake was delicious, although the bottom layer was a bit hard to eat. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

I had a moment of love at first sight with a peach for the first time in my 30+ years of life. The peach was sparkling and shining. It costs over 800 yen each, so in terms of cost performance, it's a bit questionable. However, the impact and happiness when actually eating it make it worth it. This is my second time buying it. Oh, the neighboring melon was also very delicious.
