There are no menu items listed in the reviews, so it was not helpful. When I called to make a reservation, I was told there is a course of 7 dishes for 8,000 yen including tax, which requires a minimum of 4 people. Drink-all-you-can courses are not available. This time, I made a reservation for 2 people. Although the counter was said to be unavailable for reservations, there happened to be space available on the day, so we were seated at the counter. There was a menu, but prices for items other than drinks were not listed, and it was unclear whether tax was included. There were 42 types of snacks available, which was quite a variety. There was a full range of drinks, with a generous selection of 14 types of sake. We ordered the following:
- Otoshi (appetizer) - Price unknown
- Bottled beer - 800 yen
- 2 cups of sake - 1,500 yen
- Bottle of shochu - 3,900 yen
- Ice and water for mixing - Price unknown
- Sashimi for one person - Price unknown x 2
- Simmered octopus - Price unknown
- Plum jellyfish - Price unknown
- Chawanmushi (savory egg custard) - Price unknown x 2
- Nigiri sushi for one person - 3,500 yen
- Owan (soup) - Complimentary x 2
The total for 2 people was 23,300 yen, with drinks totaling 6,200 yen. Subtracting the drinks, the meal cost 14,130 yen. It seems like this is the approximate breakdown:
- Ice and water for mixing - 600 yen
- Otoshi x 2 - 1,000 yen
- Sashimi x 2 - 6,000 yen
- Chawanmushi x 2 - 1,200 yen
- Plum jellyfish - 800 yen
- Simmered octopus - 1,500 yen
- Nigiri sushi for one person - 3,500 yen
The sashimi we ordered included octopus, amberjack, swordtip squid, tuna, and scallops, each with 2 pieces. The tuna was delicious and generously sized. The simmered octopus was tender and tasty. The chawanmushi was average. The plum jellyfish had a strong plum flavor. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was very nice, with background music featuring music played on a shamisen. There were 3 chefs, all of whom were very friendly. The restaurant was fully booked by 6 pm on that day, with around 30 people on the first floor. There is a second floor, but it has not been used since the COVID-19 pandemic. The customers were mostly over 60 years old, and they all seemed affluent.
