Located along the railway near the north exit of Nakano Station, this small but extremely popular restaurant is always packed. With just three tables outside, it seems like they could easily reach 120-130% capacity. They offer a variety of mackerel dishes, all with fresh mackerel. You can enjoy raw mackerel, seared mackerel, and the popular sesame mackerel tea pickles from Kyushu in winter. Surprisingly, mackerel sandwiches go well with bread! There are many tempting dishes on the menu, and I would love to try them all. Highly recommended, thank you for the feast!

I had been curious about this restaurant while watching from the train. I made a reservation and visited on Saturday at 6 pm. They have a wide variety of mackerel dishes, making it fun to choose. The mackerel, as well as other items, are delicious. The service is also very fast. The unique glasses exclusive to Nakano are adorable. There are many dishes that caught my interest, so I would like to visit again!

On a holiday at 5 pm! I made a reservation in advance for my visit. I was seated at the counter. The restaurant is not very spacious and the counter seats are close together. We started with a glass of draft beer. The appetizer was a mixture of mozuku seaweed and scallops. Delicious! The menu includes a variety of mackerel dishes and grilled skewers, as well as other small dishes, making it a great lineup for mackerel lovers. On this day, I ordered: - Stir-fried leeks with raw egg - Mackerel skewers - Grilled mackerel liver - Grilled mackerel meatballs - Mackerel assortment. From the second drink onwards, I switched to a Hoppy white set. The stir-fried leeks with raw egg had a soy sauce base with a raw egg yolk on top of stir-fried leeks, creating a great combination of flavors and textures. The mackerel skewers were fatty and perfectly seasoned! They were fluffy and deliciously grilled! The grilled mackerel liver was cooked well and slightly firm. The grilled mackerel meatballs were juicy and full of flavor. The mackerel assortment included raw, seared, pickled, and sesame mackerel. The raw mackerel was incredibly fresh and flavorful. The seared mackerel had a crispy skin and enhanced flavor. The pickled mackerel had just the right amount of acidity and saltiness. The sesame mackerel had a great aroma from the ground sesame, sweet soy sauce, and chopped seaweed, making it a perfect snack. I was able to enjoy my favorite mackerel in a delicious way. The staff were also very friendly. It was a great restaurant experience.

At JR Nakano Station, there is a shop that can be seen from the train. I had been wanting to visit for a while, and I finally went right after the Obon holiday. The restaurant was full, so I opted for the course menu this time, but I saw that they have a variety of other dishes, so I will try the a la carte menu next time. The dishes mainly featured mackerel, including sashimi, grilled, and fried dishes, all of which were satisfying. Personally, I really enjoyed the grilled liver skewers and the mackerel cutlet sandwich for the finale. Thank you for the meal.

The plus is the sashimi of yellowtail. I wanted to drink Akaboshi here too, and the raw mackerel, marinated mackerel, seared mackerel, sesame mackerel, and plus yellowtail are all very reasonably priced. They specialize in mackerel, so it's extremely delicious. I ordered Amireba skewers as an accompaniment to Akaboshi, but this place specializes in mackerel. Let's eat mackerel. The mackerel fry is delicious. Slowly enjoy Saba desu and Saba Hikaru with one cup each.

The restaurant is centered around mackerel dishes, and it is easy to find along the railway track from Nakano Station. The seating capacity is not large, but you can usually get in without a reservation depending on the time. The menu features a variety of mackerel dishes, with recommended mackerel assortments and potato fries. While not as extensive as some other places, the food is generally delicious, and there is a decent amount of complimentary appetizers. The drink prices are also reasonable, and the original Calpis sour has a taste reminiscent of makgeolli, adding a unique touch.

There is a specialty shop for mackerel in Nakano. Just outside the north exit of Nakano Station. ・Mackerel assortment plus The seared mackerel was especially delicious, with a straw-grilled flavor. The bonito was thick and tasty without any fishy smell. ・Mackerel silver lemon sour The ginger and lemon flavor was refreshing and delicious. It didn't feel too strong in alcohol content. I realized that day that I couldn't eat a lot of mackerel even though I planned to eat a lot. The seating is a bit cramped, but the staff noticed and kept clearing plates for us.

After the daytime rakugo performance by Kenkou Shishou, I went to a restaurant I had always wanted to try with Wine-san. It's a place that seafood lovers will adore, with offerings like sardines, horse mackerel, and mackerel. The mackerel is served as sashimi, which is quite common in the Genkai Sea! We tried a variety of dishes. As someone from Kyushu, I found it a bit lacking, but they did serve a proper yuzu pepper. They also accommodated my request for a strong lemon sour. The total bill came to ¥8,800. I was invited to join Wine-san again after the next rakugo performance by Kenkou Shishou, but I had to decline as there is a gathering with Bantaku Shishou on that day.

After leaving the first restaurant, I chose this place for the second one, Saba Gin! When you exit the north exit of Nakano station and walk along the tracks to the right, you'll find a crowded restaurant. That's here. The menu is all about mackerel (laughs). I like mackerel, so I had been curious about this place for a while, but I couldn't find anyone to go with me, so it's my long-awaited first visit ★ We sat at the counter for two people. Since it's the second place, we ordered some snacks and had beer. Lucky for us, they had Akahoshi bottled beer available (^^) We ordered grilled mackerel skewers, mackerel sakanadon, and assorted mackerel sashimi. The appetizer was a simmered tripe. The mackerel here is fatty and chewy. The skewers are filled with mackerel juice in your mouth. The sakanadon is flavorful and delicious! The assorted mackerel sashimi allows you to enjoy four different ways of eating mackerel, such as shime saba and goma saba. It's a must-visit place for mackerel lovers (*^^*) The restaurant is very busy and you can tell it's popular. By this time, we were getting tipsy and couldn't remember what we were talking about (laughs), but it's time to go to the third place. (It's the end, it's the end)

First visit. Delicious, mackerel!! Mackerel is healthy, so you can drink as much as you want!! Thanks to the mackerel power, you can offset a large amount of alcohol intake!! Yay! It's a lively and fun atmosphere at this restaurant! It's close to the station, along the railway tracks. I got lost because I'm bad with directions! I want to go back again!

Located right by the north exit of Nakano Station, this restaurant is a place where you can get your fill of mackerel dishes. It's very popular, so it's quite difficult to get in without a reservation. Everything we tried was delicious, but we especially loved the Mackerel Sandwich, mackerel skewers, and fig tempura. The Mackerel Sandwich was a revelation - it featured rare mackerel sandwiched between buttered toast, with both the mackerel and the bread being incredibly tasty. The mackerel skewers were served sizzling hot, with the perfect amount of fatty goodness. The fig tempura came sprinkled with snow salt, and had a sweet, almost dessert-like flavor that also paired well as a side dish. The restaurant itself is small and not very relaxing, but mackerel lovers won't mind. The prices are a bit on the higher side (compared to the casual izakayas I usually go to), and when my companion and I ordered a variety of dishes, the bill came close to 9000 yen. So next time, I'd like to be a bit more mindful and keep it around 3000 yen per person, but at the same time, I'm curious to try the dishes we didn't get to this time, so I might struggle with what to order. The staff were very efficient, even though the place was packed, and the service was quick, which was a relief. They also handed us the receipt without us having to ask, which was a nice touch.

Mackerel and Japanese sake go perfectly together!! This restaurant prepares mackerel in various delicious ways. And most importantly, they have a great selection of Japanese sake that pairs well with mackerel. They even have sake specifically for mackerel. This is a restaurant that I would love to visit again and again!

I went to Sabagin in Nakano, Tokyo. This is an izakaya that specializes in mackerel dishes, and I felt confident in their mackerel dishes because they also had sashimi and fresh lightly pickled mackerel. I tried the seared lightly pickled mackerel, and it was beautifully presented with a big slice of bacon in the potato salad which was delicious.

I had visited this place a long time ago, but since it became popular as a saba (mackerel) specialty bar, I had been hesitant to drop by casually. However, I decided to visit again after a long time on the weekend. Today's sashimi included buri (yellowtail) sashimi, as well as seared with salt, which were both delicious. The richness of the fish was excellent. The signature dish, the saba sandwich, was outstanding. The saba was sandwiched between thin slices of bread. The fact that it was made with saba as the filling was the key point. The saba skewers were seasoned well with salt. While there are many other fish skewers available, focusing on saba is quite interesting. The chicken momo (thigh) skewers marinated in miso were pretty standard, but tasted delicious with yuzu pepper. I had the Tokujirou sake, which was served in a bottle. If you're unsure about what to order, they seem willing to offer advice. The restaurant is small and tends to get crowded, but the layout is convenient as you can easily see how busy it is from outside.

This time, the "drinking party" was held in Nakano, which was decided by the organizer who lives in Katsushika Ward. As a resident of Nakano Ward, I am super lucky♪ Saba Gin Nakano Kitaguchi Station Front Store offers a variety of dishes using fresh mackerel. It's a great place for mackerel lovers. However, they also have meat dishes and common appetizers using vegetables, so even those who are not fond of mackerel can enjoy it. Cheers with Akahoshi beer♪ Ahh, beer tastes great even during the day. Let's order lots of mackerel dishes right away.
- Seared Mackerel Sashimi ¥750
Fresh mackerel sashimi lightly seared and served. The slightly crispy skin and plump flesh spread the elegant taste of fat, creating a blissful flavor.
- Finishing Mackerel Sashimi ¥700
No complaints about the elasticity and umami! Enjoy the taste unique to fresh ingredients.
- Mackerel Skewer (1 skewer) ¥220
Crisp and fragrant skin, moist flesh with the inherent umami of mackerel spreading. This is seriously delicious♪
- Mackerel Pickled in Salt ¥500
Defeated by the smell...
- Natto Omelette ¥600
At Banpaiya, you can eat natto omelette for ¥180. This omelette is large and well-crafted.
- Chive Tamagoyaki Salad ¥400
Even chive tamagoyaki enthusiasts would be surprised! I've eaten various types of chive tamagoyaki, but this style is rare.
- Salted Island Rakkyo ¥450
- Today's Potato Salad ¥500
Handmade potato salad. The chunky texture of the potatoes is good♪
- Seared Salted Pork ¥600
Slowly grilled pork is extremely juicy. The seasoning is modest, allowing the natural taste of the pork to stand out.
- Mackerel Tempura ¥650
Crispy fried batter. The crispy texture enhances the deliciousness of the mackerel. All the mackerel dishes are incredibly delicious with a rich taste. Truly the taste of a mackerel specialty store. After beer, enjoy Hoppy. Then, I discovered a sake that seems to go well with mackerel dishes!
- Saba Desh (Ibaraki) ¥750
A sake made to enjoy mackerel even more.
- Mackerel Light (Fukui) ¥850
A rich and sharp sake that goes perfectly with mackerel dishes.
- Komazawa's Mackerel (Aomori) ¥850
A light and sharp ginjo sake, perfect for mackerel dishes. Oink, drank and ate! A group of four middle-aged men with bright red faces from drinking during the day. They ventured into the bustling area of Nakano Kitaguchi. Now, where should we go for the second place to drink?

I revisited a mackerel izakaya in front of Nakano Station after 7 years. They also have branches in Yaesu and the Imperial Theater, but I believe this is the main store. The lively and crowded layout remains the same. I came here for the mackerel sashimi. The mackerel set includes sashimi, sesame mackerel, seared mackerel, and simmered mackerel. The seared and simmered mackerel were cooked just enough to retain a raw texture. The mackerel sashimi didn't have the unique sweetness and firmness, but I guess this is what you get when eating in Tokyo. The sake to pair with these is mackerel sake. Names like "Mackerel Light," "Savadesh," and "Komazumi no Saba" all have a clear ginjo aroma. Personally, I didn't think they paired well with raw mackerel. There is also a variety of seafood other than mackerel. They offer plenty of rare delicacies that go well with sake. The excessive noise made me leave sooner than I wanted, so I headed to the next place. Maybe during the COVID period, I preferred quietly drinking alone, so I tend to avoid overly noisy places. It's natural for preferences to change after 7 years, regardless of COVID.

After seeing the cherry blossoms at night, I made a reservation for 6:00 pm and visited the restaurant. When I arrived, the restaurant was almost full. I tried various recommended mackerel dishes ☺︎ The grilled mackerel skewers were delicious when served warm. They were freshly grilled and incredibly tasty. The assorted sashimi platter with 4 types of fish was also delicious. I can use my Tabelog points here, so I definitely want to go back.

I always use the course that focuses on mackerel. They provide excellent mackerel dishes in various cooking methods, so as long as you don't have a mackerel allergy, you can bring your friends with peace of mind. There are hardly any dissatisfied customers (bitter smile). Everything you order is delicious, and they even have good Japanese sake available. Make sure to try the shime-saba sandwich. I will definitely go back!

The restaurant specializes in mackerel, and the mackerel dishes are incredibly delicious. I particularly enjoyed the sesame-flavored mackerel. The Japanese sake with stylish names that pairs well with mackerel is also quite good. The young staff are attentive and the cost performance is great, making it a place you'll want to visit again.
