Established in 1970, the long-established Western-style restaurant Asakusabashi is a place I used to visit regularly, but unfortunately, I never knew of its existence until now. With its large yellow sign, it was easy to find my way there without getting lost. Even though it was still before 5:30 pm on a Sunday, there were already customers waiting in line on the stairs, so I prepared myself for a 30-40 minute wait. However, a family in front of me was waiting for a table, so I was able to get a counter seat sooner than expected.
The restaurant offers a variety of appealing Western dishes such as hamburg steak, minced cutlet, crab cream croquette, Neapolitan spaghetti, and shrimp gratin. After much deliberation, I decided to order the mixed fry and tonkatsu after seeing the dishes being served. The mixed fry included a large shrimp fry, crab cream croquette, and scallop fry, all of which were delicious. The tonkatsu was made with high-quality "Iwachu pork," which was tender and flavorful, especially when paired with the lemon butter sauce.
I also ordered the crab pilaf, which was seasoned with paprika powder and butter, giving it a nostalgic flavor. Although I initially ordered the crab pilaf, I couldn't help but be tempted by the delicious-looking omurice served at another table. Unfortunately, I was unable to change my order to omurice as the crab pilaf was already being prepared. The use of high-quality ingredients and the quick service contribute to the popularity of this restaurant.
