Even the top-ranked Uguisudani Station in the "Most Pathetic Station Ranking" doesn't escape the presence of Doutor. The shop is conveniently located near the station's ticket gates. As you exit the north gates of Uguisudani Station, you'll find local shops lined up on the right, while chain stores like McDonald's and Matsuya dominate the main street leading to Goto-dori in the east. Surprisingly, there's no Yoshinoya, but instead, you'll find Kyoto Taru, which houses a Doutor named Uguisudani Kitaguchi Store. Are they planning to open a store at the south exit too? It makes you wonder with a naming like that. How many Doutor stores are there in Tokyo? You can find a Doutor near any Yamanote Line station. Take a break and order your usual iced coffee at Doutor, present your T-point card for points, and pay with Suica. Sit down, take out your Pomera, and enjoy your coffee while watching trains pass by from the second-floor window. I always like cafes where you can see trains from the window. Uguisudani is a district in Taito, Tokyo, centered around Uguisudani Station on the Yamanote Line and Keihin-Tohoku Line. The name Uguisudani comes from the tradition of releasing nightingales in the area, initiated by the head priest of Kanei-ji Temple and a Kyoto noble during the Edo period. Although there is no administrative division named Uguisudani, the area is known for its love hotels on the east side, as well as the Nezu district, once home to many literary figures. West of the area lies Kanei-ji Temple and Ueno Park, with the famous Asakusa Kannon Temple's Morning Glory Market nearby. Uguisudani was part of Kanei-ji Temple's territory during the Edo period, resulting in numerous temples in the Ueno, Nezu, and Nishi areas, with fewer high-rise buildings and apartments compared to other parts of Tokyo. Ueno Park and Sakura-dori are a five-minute walk from Uguisudani Station. The south exit of the station is undergoing renovation, including the installation of elevators. The south exit attracts students from Tokyo University of the Arts and vocational schools, couples strolling in Ueno Park, and elderly visitors paying their respects at nearby graves. The Tokyo Kinema Club and dance halls host idol performances, drawing crowds of fans. Despite the presence of love hotels, Uguisudani is not a red-light district like Gotanda, Shinjuku, or Ikebukuro. While there are no visible adult entertainment establishments, there are numerous delivery health services. Although Uguisudani is often associated with love hotels due to their proximity to the train tracks, the number of such establishments is significantly lower compared to areas like Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, and Shibuya. Uguisudani gained fame through the comic song "Uguisudani Music Hall" by Rakugo performer Tsurukou.
