Just a few minutes' walk from JR Yamanote Line Kanda Station. This restaurant feels like what would happen if a popular ramen shop decided to open a curry restaurant next door. While the ramen shop always has a long line, this curry restaurant next to it surprisingly had no customers. I wonder why? The Konjiki ramen is delicious, I've had it before and I like it, but curry is good too, right? In fact, the curry here was delicious. I hope this place gets more customers too...just a thought as I write this post. There's a ticket machine outside the restaurant for easy cashless payment. Besides rice, they also have "noodles" on the menu, which caught my interest. But today, I was in the mood for rice. I ordered the Konjiki Hot Karashi Curry Rice. Just like the Konjiki ramen, you can choose the level of spiciness and numbness, so I decided to go one level up for both. As soon as I entered the restaurant, the staff was already preparing my order, so I didn't have to wait long to start eating. The plate was warm to keep the food hot, with a design that prevents it from getting cold quickly. In the middle of the curry sauce pool, there was a white rice island topped with a mound of minced meat, with young corn for visual appeal. Finely chopped green onions, and slightly cooked onions were also added. The highlight was the pork belly. This would probably be served with the ramen as well. It's incredibly delicious on its own. Just the pork belly and rice would be satisfying enough. The curry sauce in the pool was a bit chunky, which was unique. It had a slightly sweet and spicy taste, with a hint of Sichuan pepper aroma unique to this restaurant. I mixed the minced meat with the rice, generously sprinkled with mustard seeds and Sichuan pepper. The rich flavors were irresistible. The sweet, round grains of white rice paired perfectly with the bold flavors, creating a delightful chaos of Japanese, Sichuan, and Indian curry influences. Despite the spiciness and numbness, I finished the dish in just a few minutes. It was delicious. To those waiting in line at the ramen shop, give the curry a try. You won't be disappointed. Thank you for the meal.
