A little extra edition! Nishijima Seika is right next to Kinshicho Station! It's located a few blocks north of Kinshicho Station, heading towards Chiba. You can taste that nostalgic flavor for just 300 yen per box - super cheap! I often buy it as a gift or for greetings, and everyone is happy with it. I highly recommend it, although some people may have their own preferences, I love this old-fashioned snack. (^^)

I visited this place for the first time on a weekday afternoon. It's located very close to Kinshicho Station. The exterior is hard to find if you don't know about it. The shop has irregular hours from 7am to 3pm, with weekends off most of the time. I thought they might be closed that day, but when I peeked inside, there were people and I was able to make a purchase. I used to buy one kinako stick at a time for 10 yen at a candy store when I was little. If you got a winning stick, you would get another one for free. At this production factory, you can buy a whole box of them for a cheap price of 300 yen. The taste is still delicious. And you can keep trying for a winning stick as much as you want. It's a luxury for adults. If I had a box of these when I was little, I would be a hero. I definitely want to visit again. ▼ Order - Food - Kinako stick (box) 300 yen - Drink - N/A ▼ Date and Time of Visit - April 2022 (Weekday) 2:00 PM ▼ Reservation/Waiting Time - None/None ▼ Location - 3-minute walk from Kinshicho Station ▼ Number of People - 1 person ▼ Budget - Takeaway 300 yen/person

I purchased a box of the classic snack "Kinako Stick" from a dagashiya (traditional Japanese candy store). The simple and sweet taste of kinako (roasted soybean flour) brought back nostalgic memories, and once I had one, I couldn't stop. On the top of the box, it said, "If you warm it in the microwave for about 30 seconds to 1 minute, it will taste even better," so I tried it and found that it became slightly softer and even more delicious. By the way, there were 5 winning sticks out of 45, indicated by the tip of the toothpick being painted red as described.

This is a confectionery factory located at the north exit of Kinshicho Station. They specialize in making a traditional Japanese snack called "kinako sticks" instead of cakes. In addition to manufacturing, they also sell their products retail. The storefront is simple, with a sign that reads "Retail Price: 300 yen per box (tax included)". Inside, it looks like a typical factory with stacked shipping boxes. I purchased a box for 300 yen, which contained 45 kinako sticks, with 5 of them being winning sticks. It's tough business for snack shops, as they only make a small profit selling these. The shelf life is about 5 months, surprisingly long. The sticks are individually wrapped in bags with oxygen absorbers to help preserve them. The snack has a subtle sweetness from the syrup and a rustic flavor from the kinako powder. Despite being a simple snack, it has a taste reminiscent of traditional Japanese sweets. Buying a box allows for unlimited snacking, but winning sticks are rare. I finally found a winning stick after eating about 20 of them. This shop is a rare find where you can buy snacks directly from the manufacturing site, rather than a wholesaler. If you're in Kinshicho, I recommend buying a box and enjoying a taste of traditional Japanese snacks.

First of all, let me make it clear that I am a classmate of the current president, Nishijima-kun, so there will be more nostalgic stories than discussions about the food. Over the past few years, I have seen the restaurant featured on TV many times, and every time I see it, I feel happy. I believe the restaurant has been around for over 50 years since Nishijima-kun was already making "kinako ame" when we met. When we were in elementary school, he brought boxed kinako ame as a gift to a birthday party with friends. The kinako ame was round and flat like rice crackers with a stick like a splinter stuck in them. The taste remains the same today - moist, soft, and fragrant with kinako powder. My grandmother loved it and looked forward to him bringing it, which was our little secret. Of course, I loved it too. I heard that he came up with the idea to make it into small stick shapes like now and attach a lottery ticket to a toothpick. The kinako sticks were a hit, and I'm glad for him. Reflecting his shy personality, the restaurant is hard to find. There is only a modest signboard, so those who visit should look carefully along the railway line. P.S. I hope you can come to the alumni reunion occasionally. Nishi's topic always comes up. And please try to guess the true identity of the writer. LOL (Recorded: 4/4/2020)

This is a factory direct sales store for the classic kinako stick candy, located just a 2-3 minute walk from Kinshicho Station North Exit. They are sold for 300 yen per box, and individuals can purchase them. Each box contains 50 kinako sticks, with 10 sticks having a special prize inside. The flavor is a simple mix of kinako powder and brown sugar sweetness. It's a nutritious snack that you can enjoy while having fun. It's nice to reminisce about the taste of childhood and enjoy it as an adult! Thank you for the meal.

When I heard about a place near Kinshicho station where they sell freshly made kinako sticks, I decided to check it out. The manufacturing facility was located on the first floor of a regular building along the elevated train tracks. As soon as I entered, I was surrounded by kinako everywhere! I asked if I could buy some, and for 600 yen, I was able to get two boxes. I received a freshly made kinako stick. It was surprisingly soft! When I got home, my son microwaved it and absolutely loved it. It made for a great souvenir. I highly recommend it to everyone!

From the north exit of Kinshicho Station, walk along the elevated tracks towards Kameido for about 200 meters, and you will find a shop called Dorikame Honpo and Nishijima Seika selling their products. Inside the shop, there are machines making kinako (soybean flour) snacks. The staff will offer you a sample of freshly made snack, which is soft and warm. A box costs 300 yen and contains 50 pieces, with 10 pieces being winning ones. If you find a winning piece, you get an extra one for free. It's a fun experience to share the snacks with others.

As I was walking towards the check shop I wanted to visit from Kinshicho Station, I caught a sweet and fragrant smell of soybean flour. When I saw a sign selling a box of 300 yen with a sticker of "Ariyoshi-kun Shoujiki Sanpo," I immediately bought it. I tried a small piece of soybean flour with a toothpick and it tasted like the nostalgic snacks from the old candy store. I'm looking forward to enjoying a solo lottery draw at home. 😆

Hello (*∀*) I found a treasure!! I am the chief of the factory direct sales detective team, where cheap and tasteless is the norm (laughs). Today, I visited a factory direct sales shop for cheap sweets in Kinshicho, Sumida-ku, Tokyo. From the north exit of Kinshicho Station on the Sobu Line, head towards Kameido along the railway tracks and cross Yotsu-me Street. Keep going about 250m along the side road of Lotte Plaza, and you will find Nishijima Seika. Nishijima Seika is a company that manufactures and sells cheap sweets, commonly known as kinako sticks. When they are open for business and selling, a signboard is placed on the street in front of the company. The signboard is there, but it's not clear where the entrance is. I tried to open the glass door in front of the signboard, and it opened with a rattle. Peeking inside, it looked like a product warehouse, and there was an employee at the back. When I asked if I could buy kinako sticks, they asked how many I wanted. Since it was my first time and I didn't know what it was, I asked for one for now. They quickly brought the product, and I purchased a pack of kinako sticks for 300 yen. Inside the paper box of the kinako sticks, there are kinako sticks wrapped in plastic and yellow powder. The kinako sticks are about 4cm long each, and each one is skewered on a toothpick. There are a total of 55 kinako sticks, with 15 of them being red, indicating a winning stick. Since a stick with a red tip is a winner, do I get one more? If you buy kinako sticks at a cheap sweets shop and get a winning stick, you will definitely get one more! However, these kinako sticks are made for commercial use in shops, so that's impossible. Now, enough with the explanation, let's try it out right away (ノ゚Д゚) Alright! It has been decades since I last ate kinako sticks back in elementary school. I bite into the center of the kinako stick and chew about half of it. It's surprisingly hard, but as I chew each bite, it gradually softens. The fragrant flavor of the yellow powder and the gentle sweetness spread throughout my mouth with each chew. Surprisingly delicious, it has a taste that cannot be underestimated as a cheap sweet. This cheap sweet is probably made by mixing freshly ground yellow powder with water candy and black sugar. As an adult who enjoys delicious sweets, I didn't have high expectations for the taste. Kinako sticks, a cheap sweet, might be a confectionery where you can enjoy the simple and natural flavors of the ingredients. Rating ★★★ (more accurately 3.3) Kinako sticks evoke nostalgia from childhood, making it a renowned cheap sweet. Also, you are guaranteed to get a winning stick, so you can enjoy the atmosphere of a cheap sweets shop with your children.
