Tonight, I visited Yoyogi-Uehara for some bar hopping, and this was the final stop. It's a chain yakitori restaurant. I usually only go to the same place in Yoyogi-Uehara, so trying a new place feels refreshing. My companion said it's a chain yakitori place but the food is delicious. We entered through a side entrance next to Ippudo and went up the stairs to the second floor. It used to be a different restaurant, but this one opened in March 2015, so it's a clean and nice place. When we arrived around 8:30 pm, it was crowded. We sat at the counter, and the service was good. I've been seeing a lot of "Sumire" stores lately, but I learned that it's a young chain celebrating its 10th anniversary. They have a variety of yakitori skewers, including classic ones, bacon and pork belly skewers, and vegetable skewers. The seasoning options like tare, sesame oil and salt, garlic miso, salt, and garlic butter are plentiful. They also offer boiled tongue and horse sashimi on the menu. When I visited in early June, they were having a "karaage" fair, but since I had already eaten karaage at another place, I decided to pass. First, I decided to have a refreshing drink. - Jean Lemon @498 for a toast. Sumire offers four types of lemon sours: salted lemon sour, freshly squeezed lemon sour, pure lemon sour, and Jean Lemon. Jean Lemon has a lemony flavor, but if you want an even stronger lemon taste, I recommend the pure lemon sour. **I forgot to take photos, so there are hardly any.** - Appetizer (all-you-can-eat salted cabbage) @330 - Edamame @298 - Chicken skin with ponzu sauce @398 - Chicken gizzard (garlic butter soy sauce) @248 (all prices excluding tax) - Negima (tare) @198 - Tsukune (tare) @218 - Mega Potato with cheese sauce @598 - Homemade tartar and chicken nanban with black vinegar (4 pieces) @498 All the skewers were above average in taste. Especially the chicken gizzard (garlic butter soy sauce) had a unique flavor that lingers. The tsukune had no filler, just pure meat flavor. The homemade tartar and chicken nanban with black vinegar had plenty of tartar sauce. The Mega Potato, where you can choose two out of 8 sauces, I chose both with cheese. Surprisingly, it was a great combination. When you mix the melted cheese with the potatoes, it's irresistible. I heard that the owner used to work at Lains Inter, which explains why the "garlic butter soy sauce" tasted so good, similar to Gyu-Kaku. Despite being a chain yakitori restaurant, the service was good, and the yakitori was delicious.
