I made a reservation and visited the restaurant because I wanted to try the chef's special appetizer platter for 1650 yen, which can only be ordered with a reservation. When I arrived at the opening time, the curtain was up and the sign was lit up. However, there was a sign saying they were preparing. The owner came out and explained that all seats were reserved for the day. The interior of the restaurant was clean and slightly Western-style. The menu was limited, with 31 items ranging from 550 to 1430 yen. The appetizer platter I wanted was quite filling with 10 items. The tuna sashimi I ordered looked good but was a bit bland. The service from the owner and chef was excellent.

It had been a while since I visited Moriya in the Sumiyoshi area. During the pandemic, they only offered bento boxes and were trying out different things, but now they have resumed their lunch service. However, my favorite generous portion of fried chicken is no longer available, so the lunch prices have gone up starting from 1,000 yen. Despite that, the place is quite crowded. The service is a bit slow, and I remember visiting a few times before and finding it either full or being told that there would be a wait, so I had to give up. This time, it wasn't too crowded, which was good. Since I had a meatless lunch last time, I felt like indulging and went for the pork belly simmered lunch for 1,100 yen. Well, it's not too crowded, but the service is still a bit slow. It's better to have some time to spare when using the lunch service here. The simmered pork belly came with two large pieces of pork belly, two pieces of simmered tofu, a half portion of boiled egg, and the classic simmered pork belly, which was very filling. The pork was tender and delicious! Maybe it's because of the consecutive hot days and getting older, but I felt heavy towards the end, but overall, I was very satisfied. The side dishes, which seemed to be homemade, included potato salad, simmered hijiki seaweed, and pickles, all of which were well made. The miso soup also had plenty of ingredients like nameko mushrooms, raw seaweed, komatsuna greens, and was delicious. The rice was also tasty. I skipped the sashimi set for 1,430 yen, but other customers ordered it, and it looked quite luxurious and delicious with about five types of sashimi. It seems worth trying. The restaurant accepts PayPay, but I don't remember it being part of any PayPay campaigns for the Koto area. It doesn't seem like there are any PayPay campaigns planned for the Koto area. I'm curious about the sashimi lunch, even though it's a bit pricey.

The place I have visited more than 10 times is a favorite restaurant of mine with amazing value for money and hospitality comparable to a traditional Japanese inn. The miso soup served here is satisfying on its own with plenty of bean sprouts, seaweed, and fried tofu. Additionally, there are 7 types of fresh sashimi available, including seared kamasu, which is a fantastic deal. Noteworthy is the fresh seaweed served with the sashimi, which is surprisingly delicious. The potato salad, pickles, and simmered eggplant are all carefully prepared and delicious. All these dishes are offered at a price of only 1430 yen. It's hard to believe that such delicious food can be enjoyed at this price, and I worry about the restaurant's sales. The landlady's service is truly top-notch, making you feel like you're in a high-class inn. Encountering such a wonderful restaurant is rare, so be sure to visit and, like me, you'll likely make this place one of your favorites! ^_^

I visited for lunch. It's a small, cozy restaurant with a calm atmosphere. The customers were mostly middle-aged women and a few groups. It feels like a cozy little izakaya run by a couple. I ordered the set meal with fried horse mackerel and fried shrimp. The price was 1100 yen including tax. The shrimp was plump and satisfying to eat. Each dish was well-prepared with no strange flavors. The miso soup had a gentle taste with white miso base, crunchy komatsuna, and fresh green vegetables. It's located in a less noticeable place, so it's nice that it's not crowded.

A small izakaya near Sumiyoshi Station, about a 3-4 minute walk from the site. This is my second visit during lunch time. Last time, I had to wait quite a while for the "karaage set". This time, I decided to order something that wouldn't require as much waiting, and went with the "pork braised set" that the shop seems to recommend. I waited about 6-7 minutes this time, and the braised pork set was served. The main dish was the braised pork with simmered taro on the side, and even sashimi, possibly yellowtail, was included which felt like a good deal. It also came with pickles and miso soup in a traditional Japanese set meal style. I tried the braised pork. It was tender, flavorful, and delicious. I could see why the shop recommends it. However, although I used to love braised pork, after not having it for a while, I found it quite heavy and fatty. Eating it with the mustard helped, but after a bite or two, I already felt full. Perhaps due to my age, heavy foods tend to weigh down my stomach. The sashimi, on the other hand, was light and refreshing, providing a nice contrast. I added a bit of shichimi to the miso soup. The portion of rice seemed a bit too much, but I struggled to finish the braised pork and ended up leaving some. A few years ago, I would have loved this braised pork without a doubt, but this time, the feeling of fullness and satisfaction after just a few bites made it challenging to eat two large pieces of meat. Despite the delicious flavor of the braised pork, I felt more regret than satisfaction after eating it. I realized that I have reached the age where I need to be more mindful of the menu choices I make.

I had only been here once when it first opened, but I saw other people's reviews saying that the volume of the fried chicken was amazing, so I wanted to confirm if the portion had increased. I have passed by a few times since then, but it was always crowded during lunchtime, so I avoided it. This time, it was surprisingly empty, so I decided to revisit. I ordered the same Chicken Tatsuta Age for 840 yen as last time. I was also curious about the Braised Pork Set. However, I couldn't help but think that not many people would order the Ham Cutlet Set at the same price... it might be better to label it as "Ham Cutlet + something else" to make it more appealing. The Tatsuta Age is fried after you order it, so it takes a bit of time. But it's definitely worth the wait for this freshly fried Tatsuta Age. I do think that the portion has increased compared to when they first opened. It is served on a small plate, piled high, and looks great for photos. I wish I had taken a picture last time. Portion size is quite subjective, so having a photo would make it easier to judge. There seemed to be construction nearby, and there were quite a few rugged-looking customers, but with this volume, it's definitely appealing. The Tatsuta Age is delicious on its own, hot and juicy, but it's also great with mayonnaise on top. They also provide dressing, so you can enjoy the cabbage. The side dish changes daily, and on this day, we had sashimi, which felt like a good deal. It also came with pickles and miso soup. I ended up getting a half portion of rice refill, but it was quite a lot and I was very full. The miso soup tasted better last time, and the rice was a bit softer on this day. The hostess was attentive and the atmosphere was calming, making it a recommended place to enjoy fried chicken and Tatsuta Age in this area. I might choose this place over Karaage no Jo next time. Coincidentally, some regular customers? were discussing topics on Tabelog, and they mistook me for an undercover inspector who posted the initial review, which was embarrassing. They seem to be trying various things like sharing information on Line and accepting PayPay. I don't want it to get too crowded, but I think it deserves higher ratings.

A restaurant that looks like an izakaya along Shin Ohashi Street, about 300 meters west from Sumiyoshi Station. I visited this place for lunch on a weekday and was impressed by the exterior and the atmosphere visible through the glass. The restaurant was quite crowded when I entered around 12:40 on a weekday. The waitress, who may have been the owner, was a beautiful woman and provided a pleasant welcome. I ordered the "fried chicken set meal" from the slightly expensive menu. As I waited for the fried chicken set meal, I noticed that there was only one waitress, who seemed to be the same woman who welcomed me earlier. The place got busier as another customer sat at the shared table. The set meal of the other customer arrived within 12-13 minutes, but my fried chicken set meal took almost 20 minutes to be served. The waitress apologized for the delay. The fried chicken set meal was served with a generous portion of fried chicken and plenty of vegetables underneath. The fried chicken was hot and tasty, with a light seasoning. The set meal also included side dishes like boiled vegetables, pickles, and miso soup. I enjoyed the meal, especially the fried chicken without any condiments. Overall, despite the long wait, the delicious meal made up for it. The restaurant seems like a good place to enjoy dinner with beer and snacks in the evening.

The place is located between Sumiyoshi and Kikukawa on the Toei Shinjuku Line, just a moment off Shindaibashi Street. It's a bit of a hidden gem and highly recommended. I arrived at lunchtime. I was dropped off near this place for work and was wondering what to do! I found this restaurant at just the right time. If I had missed it, I would have ended up at a chain restaurant near Kikukawa Station. The interior of the restaurant is very stylish, and I ordered the fried chicken set meal as there were no other customers. The portion size, taste, and presentation were all of a very high level, and yet it was so cheap, no, too cheap! (laughs) I would still eat here even if it were more expensive. It seems that the main focus is probably on the izakaya side at night, but even so, the clean interior and complete non-smoking policy mean there is no smoky, sticky feeling that you often get in izakayas. It was a very satisfying lunch!

I visited a site for work preparation. A colleague mentioned that there is a delicious set meal restaurant around here, so I left it to them and followed along. The main job is at a nighttime drinking establishment. Surprisingly, they also serve set meals during the day. The recommended dish was the sashimi set meal, so I ordered as suggested. The restaurant seems to focus on fish dishes, but the interior is not traditional Japanese. When the food arrived, it included sashimi, rice, miso soup, pickles, and a small appetizer. The balance seemed good. The sashimi included yellowtail, tuna, squid, and sea urchin. Wow, they included sea urchin at this price! The tuna and yellowtail were fatty and fresh, with firm texture. The sea urchin was sweet, without any off-putting smell. It's a great recommendation. It seems like sea urchin may not be included every time, so maybe I got lucky today? Still, getting sea urchin in this set meal for only 940 yen is a great deal.

We visited the restaurant on a holiday night with two people, looking to have dinner. We found a new restaurant near our house when we searched on Google, so we were looking forward to it. When we entered, we saw regular customers chatting happily with the landlady. It's a nice atmosphere. First, we had a bottle of Akahoshi beer for 550 yen. The food we ordered was a sashimi platter for two for 2000 yen and chicken karaage for 700 yen. The sashimi was beautifully arranged and each piece was fresh and delicious. The karaage had a great flavor and was fried perfectly, also very tasty. We were planning to order more dishes, but we received a lot of complimentary dishes, so we ended up with only two items. Thank you very much. For drinks, we had a refill of draft lemon sour for 500 yen, Hakkaisan special brew for 700 yen, and plum wine on the rocks for 450 yen. The Hakkaisan special brew was incredibly delicious. Thank you for the meal. A great new restaurant has opened in Sumiyoshi, Koto-ku. I would like to visit again when I return to Tokyo.

I went to a restaurant near Sumiyoshi Station for lunch. I found this place the other day and the atmosphere was really nice, so I decided to visit again. I ordered the grilled salmon set meal for 880 yen (including 10% consumption tax), which came with grilled salmon (with grated daikon), rice, miso soup, pickles, and simmered dish. This place is not just a regular set meal restaurant, it feels more like a small traditional Japanese eatery. The interior is very clean and the food is delicate. The grilled salmon was delicious, but I also appreciated the attention to detail in the miso soup, pickles, and other dishes. Everything is made with care and it feels comforting to eat here. I can't recreate this delicate taste at home, so being able to enjoy it here makes me happy. The staff on the floor are very warm and friendly, and they chat casually with regular customers, creating a nice atmosphere. I will definitely stop by again when I'm in the area.

A new restaurant recently opened a little walk from Sumiyoshi towards Kikukawa. There isn't much information online, but there are lots of congratulatory flowers in front of the store. I remember there used to be a sweets shop in this location. I was actually planning to go to Yumemitei next door for their tomato ramen, but it was closed even though there was a lunch sign, so I visited this place instead. The lunch set was around 840 yen, with several daily specials available. The restaurant has a calm and elegant atmosphere, with mainly table seating. It feels like a mix between an izakaya and a small Japanese restaurant. I ordered the chicken karaage from the menu. They offer unlimited rice refills. Overall, the meal was well-prepared and satisfying, although the portion size was a bit small, especially the karaage. Be mindful of the balance between rice and side dishes when getting a refill. The small side dish of boiled komatsuna and miso soup were delicious. If the location was better, it could be popular among office ladies, but it's in a slightly awkward spot, so I'm not sure how well it will do. Well, since the main focus is on dinner rather than lunch, they'll probably need to work on attracting customers in the evening.
