The lunch was not satisfying without coffee or dessert, so I decided to go in for some coffee and something sweet. It's been years since I last visited Hoshino Coffee. I don't usually go to chain stores, but I was surprised by how cheap it was. I had an iced coffee and a Showa-style pudding for 880 yen, I think. It was delicious as usual. The seating was cozy and secluded. I come to Takadanobaba for live shows sometimes, so it might be a good place to visit during those times.

After eating Kyushu udon in Takadanobaba, I was looking for a cafe to escape the heat and refresh my mouth, but every place was full. After searching around, I found a small, black glass building on the second floor at the intersection of Waseda Street and Tsutsuji Street, one block towards Waseda University from Takadanobaba. The place was called "Hoshino Coffee Shop Takadanobaba Store," with a simple and inconspicuous appearance that only locals would recognize. Upon taking the elevator to the second floor, I entered the interior of "Hoshino Coffee." It wasn't crowded, and I was quickly seated at a booth. The narrow shop seemed to be filled with booth seats. I ordered the Mini Shaved Strawberry Parfait Set, which includes the Hoshino Blend Seasonal Parfait ~ Shaved Strawberry ~ mini version and a drink. It was a refreshing shaved ice dessert made with frozen strawberries and condensed milk, perfect for cooling down. After finishing it, I enjoyed a warm blend coffee to cleanse my palate, washing away the slight greasiness from the burdock tempura I had earlier. I think this "Hoshino Coffee Shop" in Takadanobaba is a hidden gem. It's quiet with subdued lighting.

The interior of this cafe is stylish and very clean compared to other Hoshino Coffee branches. I'm not sure if they require reservations, but it seems they have private rooms. They kindly accommodated my request for coffee without ice. I forgot to take a photo of the actual food, but the shaved strawberry was delicious. I would like to visit again soon.

I finally tried the souffle pancakes at Hoshino Coffee that I had been curious about for a while. I ordered a set with hot coffee, and the price was quite reasonable. However, the souffle pancakes and the pistachio ice cream I was looking forward to lacked flavor. It didn't feel worth the price. Disappointing.

Killing time before a drinking party. Takadanobaba has a lot of lively shops, so if you're looking for a calm atmosphere, this place might be better than a regular chain store. I was suddenly hungry, so I had a two-tier pancake. It was quite thick and a bit hard to eat, but the volume was satisfying. This is a good choice.

Hoshino Coffee, Large size for 670 yen. Until 11am, you can get a morning set with boiled egg and toast. I didn't feel like eating too much, so the toast was just the right size. It was like sticks of sliced bread. Although I ordered a Large size, there was room left in the cup when it was poured, so I wish they had poured a bit more. However, the coffee was delicious so I was satisfied.

On Saturday around 9:30 PM, it was dessert time after dinner! I had the Banana Custard Brulee Souffle Pancake for 1,100 yen, and a set drink for 450 yen. I also ordered a ripe banana smoothie for 650 yen. The total came to 2,200 yen! The restaurant was very empty and comfortable, but it was a shame that they didn't have WiFi. The restaurant has a rating of 3.04 on Tabelog as of August 2022.

I visited around 12:00 on Sunday. It was relatively empty, and I was able to sit in a quiet seat at the back. I had already eaten lunch elsewhere, so I ordered Showa-style pudding and Blue Mountain blend coffee, and I was able to study slowly for an hour while drinking coffee.

Starbucks Coffee under the umbrella of Doutor-Nichires Holdings. Now expanding its network with 260 stores domestically and internationally. Focusing on high-quality coffee and authentic food, targeting a different customer base than DOUTOR. On this day, we had a strategy meeting on where to have dinner after trying the limited-time Tosa-inspired dish at "Watanabe." The meeting resulted in choosing "Tonkyu," a tonkatsu restaurant among the top 100 in Takadanobaba. It turned out to be a meaningful strategy meeting bridging the gap between ramen and tonkatsu.

Of course, I was aware that it was here. It's right near the station, on the way. But from the outside, I couldn't tell how spacious it was. Well, I've been to other stores in the same chain many times, so I had a certain image of the atmosphere inside. However, today, I stopped by to adjust my schedule a bit, and... huh? It's spacious? When I got off the elevator, there were no partitions and the store was right there. The way the space was utilized, along with the design, made it surprisingly spacious. I was led to a cozy and cute semi-private booth for 1-2 people, and my excitement level went up. I decided to try the Showa era pudding that I had always wanted to eat. It came with a cup of Hoshino Blend for just a thousand yen, and I got change back. The star on top must be intentional. They're probably trying to evoke the feeling of homemade pudding from the Showa era. I'm curious about the whipped cream on top as well. It's probably intentional, but in reality, you should stop whipping the cream when it's slightly stiff, as whipping it too much can cause it to separate and become irreparable. I wonder if you've had that experience before... This whipped cream on top of the pudding looks like the solidified part of separated fresh milk, like they gathered only the solid part and rolled it up. Ah, I see, this is the essence of the Showa era. It was delicious. The service was also fantastic. I actually overheard a conversation between the staff because my seat was close to the kitchen. A senior staff member was giving instructions on customer service to a new employee. It was perfect. I think it was the best in terms of everything among all the chain stores I've visited before. I will definitely visit again.

Today, I had a meeting with an acquaintance in Takadanobaba. We decided to meet at a spacious cafe in a convenient location. The meeting spot was in a building on a narrow street just past the first traffic light on Waseda Street, towards Waseda University from the JR Takadanobaba Station Waseda Exit. Across the narrow street is a pachinko parlor called Espas Nitaku, and on the other side is a Seven Eleven. The building we entered had a prominent signboard saying "Hoshino Coffee" on the second floor window.
I ordered the Baked Souffle in a Pot for 550 yen and a Drink Set for 400 yen. As soon as I got off the elevator, I was inside the cafe. The interior was clean and had a calm atmosphere. I chose a bright seat by the window. The Baked Souffle in a Pot looked delicious, so I ordered it with the Drink Set. There were five options for the coffee in the Drink Set, including decaf and iced. When I asked the staff about the differences, they explained that the Hikoboshi Blend had a moderate bitterness, while the Orihime Blend was light and refreshing. I decided to go with the Hoshino Blend, which was balanced. The Baked Souffle would take about 20 minutes to bake, so I had time to chat with my acquaintance.
First, the Hikoboshi Blend coffee was served. It had a straight-forward strength that I, someone who usually enjoys strong coffee, found appealing. As we continued our meeting in the serene environment, the Baked Souffle was brought out. It had a fluffy and delicious appearance. I rarely eat desserts like this, so it was a nice treat. The souffle was soft and filled with a gentle sweetness. I chose the unusual option of the raw chocolate sauce to accompany it, but found it a bit too sweet. The souffle itself was sweet enough, so the additional sweetness from the sauce was a bit overwhelming. I ended up enjoying the souffle without the sauce.
Overall, it was a cozy cafe near the station that I would feel comfortable visiting again.

Many restaurants are refraining from business, so when my son and I tried to go to Komeda (Komeda Coffee) for steak, we found out they were closed, so we came here instead. We took the elevator to the second floor, which is where the restaurant is located. The interior is spacious with various types of seating, making it very convenient. Originally, I suggested sharing a double pancake with my son, but he wanted to eat a whole double pancake by himself (laughs). So, we ended up ordering one single and two double souffle pancakes. I ordered the single and double souffle pancakes, which were priced at 530 yen and 680 yen respectively. You can choose between maple, honey, or brown sugar syrup for the pancakes. The pancakes take about 20 minutes to cook, so we received our drinks first. The double pancakes arrived, looking visually appealing. The butter melted on top, and cutting into them revealed their fluffy texture. They were light but quite filling. It's important to have a drink with them to prevent feeling too sweet or getting heartburn, especially at my age. It would be perfect if there was something in between a single and double order, like 1.5 pancakes...

This cafe is located in a lively area on Waseda Street, near Takadanobaba Station. Despite being next to a pachinko parlor, the interior exudes a calm atmosphere. Although the prices are on the higher side compared to other cafe chains, you can enjoy a sense of security in the flavors.

I entered the store around 3:30 PM on a regular day. Thanks to the large sign, I could tell where the store was, but I couldn't find the entrance and ended up circling the building once. Finally, I found the elevator and entered the store. When I sat down, the waitress was communicating through an intercom that it was full. The restaurant seemed popular as it had quite a few seats. Since it was late for lunch, I hesitated between ordering the souffle pancakes and the "Quiche Plate for 750 yen" with an "Iced Milk Tea for 400 yen" set. They asked if I wanted the drink before or after the meal, which was very polite. After ordering, the Quiche Plate arrived in about 10 minutes. As expected, it was a small plate. The minestrone soup was hot and delicious. The quiche was also hot, and I burned myself. The spinach and lettuce salad with sesame dressing was tasty and easy to eat. Personally, I prefer a firmer quiche with a tart-like crust that's hard to cut with a fork, but this fluffy quiche was also delicious. It may not be a filling lunch, but it's just right for a light snack. Depending on the seat, there are bright seats with good lighting and dark seats, so it might be difficult to choose as a study or work space. The window side seems bright. All seats are non-smoking, but there is a small smoking room at the back. The room itself is clean, but it's narrow for four people. The restroom is separate for men and women, with one each. I will come back when I want to relax and have a cup of tea!

The later hours are quiet and the space is very relaxing and convenient. There are many semi-private spaces with partitions, making it easy to have a leisurely conversation. The atmosphere also enhances the conversation, making it lively! The photo is of a cold soy milk latte. The cup is stylish. Sorry, I didn't take a photo reflecting the space. Next time, I will!?

I visited "Hoshino Coffee" after a long time. It is located on the 2nd floor of a new building near Takadanobaba Station. I went for lunch on a holiday and it was very crowded. The spacious interior has a calm atmosphere with mostly sofa seats. I ordered the "Ham, Vegetable, and Egg Sandwich" (600 yen + tax) and a drink, the "Iced Coffee" (set price of 400 yen + tax). On weekdays, the drink set price is 300 yen. The iced coffee had a sharp bitterness that blew away the heat. It was delicious. The sandwich was a thick type that seemed Instagram-worthy. It was cut in half and served wrapped in paper. It looked and tasted good, but the bread was a bit dry. Around 3 pm, there were even waiting customers, showing its popularity. There is one women's restroom and one men's restroom, with the women's restroom being frequently occupied due to the large number of female customers. Payment is cash only, which is surprising in this day and age.

The area around Takadanobaba Station is filled with cafe chains, but most of them are always full due to the mismatch between the number of seats and the population of the area. However, "Hoshino Coffee" seems to have more available seats, possibly because of its spacious layout. Located on the second floor of a building, the cafe has a JEMS-like atmosphere. The "Setouchi Lemon and Yuzu Tart + Hikoboshi Blend (885 yen)" set includes a cake and coffee, which are both decent. The price may not be cheap, but it's worth it for the relaxed atmosphere. By the way, the receipt says "Hoshino Coffee Takadanobaba Store," not "Hoshino Coffee Store."

The restaurant is new and feels great. Everything is clean. The seating arrangement and variety are fantastic. I might like the window seats at the back the most, where you can see outside. The service is also very good and suitable for working. If you want to use a pocket WiFi, the signal is bad unless you sit by the window. The coffee is delicious too.

Opened today (April 5, Heisei 31). Like most other stores, the seating layout is spacious, and the chairs are relatively comfortable, making it a relaxing place to enjoy reading. All seats are non-smoking, but there is a smoking room available. I had two cups of coffee and a souffle doria.

The bridal photo shoot ended successfully, and we decided to take a break with a cup of tea at "Hoshino Coffee" in Takadanobaba. The shop is located on the second floor, and we took the elevator up. Just as the elevator doors were closing, a young man rushed in and then quickly exited on the second floor without even holding the door for us. Anyway, we enjoyed our café au lait.
