Located in Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto City, the bakery "Rauk (ルーク) Main Store" currently has a rating of 3.58 on Tabelog, yet it ranks 680th in the Tabelog "Kyoto Prefecture" ranking out of approximately 22,000 restaurants. It is also ranked 46th in the Tabelog "Kyoto Prefecture [Bread]" ranking, which is quite impressive. I visited the store for a takeout of their bread. The store is about a 9-10 minute walk north of JR Kyoto Station. Upon arrival, I saw a sign that read "Revival California Uji" and entered the compact store. I selected two types of bread, totaling 541 yen. The bread was delicious, with generous custard cream and juicy fruits. I look forward to trying the "California Uji" which won the Best Technical Award at the California Walnut Contest next time. It is made with Uji matcha dough, walnuts, and adzuki beans. The store is quietly located near the historic confectionery shop "Kameya Mutsu." I have high hopes for their future success and would love to visit again. Kyoto Prefecture is home to many outstanding restaurants, each striving for excellence in their respective cuisines. It was a meaningful experience to visit "Rauk Main Store" among such popular establishments in Kyoto Prefecture.

Visited the popular bakery "Rauk" near Kyoto Station. - Matcha coronet: A coronet with Danish pastry dough. Lately, I feel like I see a lot of these types of coronets. The matcha cream inside is smooth and creamy like custard, with the matcha flavor not overpowering. It would be even better if the dough was more crispy. - Anpan French Revolution: This is delicious. The surface is crispy, while the inside is chewy with a great contrast in texture. Inside, there is a rare white bean paste with large walnuts scattered throughout. This is truly a revolution. It was delicious. I wasn't a big fan of the atmosphere when I entered the store, but the taste is definitely good.

I visited a popular bakery in Kyoto for the first time! I went on a Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock and found that there were few items on the shelves. The shop is small, but you can feel the hard work of the couple running it! I bought the egg sandwich, and the moist and juicy egg was delicious! I enjoyed it very much.

California Uji has been revived and of course, I bought it. There were a few customers in the store looking at California Uji. I managed to get the last one. This time, I bought the soft type of California Uji, which was developed for all ages and genders, instead of the hard type.

I felt like having bread for lunch, so I searched for a place that looked delicious and walked a bit from Kyoto Station to get there. I ordered two types of rice bread: Gorgonzola bread and French bread with bacon, shiso, and cheese. I arrived around 3:00 PM, and there were quite a few options available. However, they didn't have any freshly baked bread. Since I couldn't warm them up outside, I ended up eating both of them cold, which made the deliciousness decrease by half. I wasn't too impressed. I would like to try them again next time when they are freshly baked or in an environment where I can warm them up.

On the way to the curry restaurant from Kyoto Station, I encountered a shop. I decided to go in and bought a Kyoto-style item. I thought it might be a bread with matcha kneaded into the dough, but inside there were walnuts and red beans, creating a harmonious blend of matcha aroma and the sweetness of these ingredients. It was delicious. Thank you, this bakery is also delicious and reasonably priced.

While riding my bike, I noticed there were many bakeries along the way. Japan apparently has the highest consumption of bread! I decided to make a quick stop and found a bakery that seemed upscale but had reasonably priced bread, around 200 yen each. They had a special called "California Uji" which was a harmony of red bean, walnut, and matcha flavors. It was delicious and affordable! I have a feeling this bakery will rise to award-winning levels soon!

The nice smell of bread outside the shop. There are various types of bread from hard bread to filled bread. I tried the soy milk cream bread. It was delicious with a refreshing cream. It's fun to have some unique bread options.

Whimsical Sandwich A, Egg Sandwich, and Toast for 1,120 yen. Visited with a rating of 3.58 on Tabelog. No parking lot available. The exterior of the restaurant is small and stylish. Various sandwiches are displayed on the island table in the middle, which boosts the excitement.

[2022.11 Bread Adventure♪] I received an invitation to a private event at a shop where you can enjoy the rare Taizakani crab, known as the phantom crab. Without checking the contents of my wallet, I immediately confirmed my attendance and headed to Kyoto on the day of the event. Since I was already there, I decided to do a little bread adventure♪ The shop is located near Shijo Karasuma, making it a convenient midpoint. [Purchased Breads♪] - Sesame Wiener (281 yen): A fairly substantial bread with a delicious taste. - Uff (195 yen): A fluffy egg bread with a light texture. - French An Revolution (216 yen): Just a pun, not really revolutionary in taste, but delicious according to my wife. [Wine Pairings] - Bacon Epi (260 yen): A fluffy and chewy bread that is quite tasty. - Gorgonzola Focaccia (260 yen): Currently in the freezer waiting to be enjoyed! Total: 1,212 yen Location: From Kyoto Station, walk north along the Karasuma Subway Line, take the underground passage to the end, go up to the surface at the Karasuma Shichijo intersection, head west on Shichijo Street, turn right (north) at the second traffic light (Shichijo Nishidoin), and the shop will be on your left.

I visited a shop that I had been curious about for a long time when I came to Kyoto. The location is in a residential area a little northwest of Kyoto Station. I purchased a baguette, croissant, and pain au chocolat. The croissant and pain au chocolat had a crispy texture and were quite buttery, of a relatively high quality. What surprised me was the baguette. A French person on YouTube had praised it, and I found the crust to be crispy and fragrant, while the crumb was light and fluffy with a rich wheat aroma. It was a classic type of baguette that suited my taste perfectly and was incredibly delicious. I recommend this shop to anyone who loves baguettes.

Garlic French toast. Hard and tiring to chew. It is spread with garlic butter, but the garlic flavor seems weak. Napolitan - Nagoya style. The classic Napolitan is topped with a typical Nagoya-style egg. It contains onions and wieners. The Napolitan is dry.

After visiting the Kyoto Cultural Museum, I decided to walk to Kyoto Station and do some bakery hopping along the way. However, both of the shops I planned to visit were closed... So I gave up and decided to head to Kyoto Station, but then I thought about having bread for the next day and searched on Tabelog for a bakery near Gojo Station. That's when I found this shop. It was already close to 3 PM, so the variety of bread was a bit limited, but I bought three pieces. - Jaga Otoko (Potato Man) for 240 yen: A French bread wrapped with Hokkaido-grown male potatoes seasoned with black pepper and bacon. The filling was a bit sparse when I cut it open. - Apple Tea Bread for 200 yen: Bread with Earl Grey kneaded into the dough and baked with sweetened apples. The scent was mild, and the amount of sweetened apples was a bit lacking. - B.O.C. French Bread for 260 yen: Bacon, shiso leaves, and cream cheese wrapped in a fragrant French bread. It had a spicy flavor and seemed like it would go well with wine. I visited around 3 PM, so the variety of bread was limited, and overall, the bread lacked a strong aroma and had sparse fillings.

Recommended by a resident of Kyoto, Luke visited this bakery attracted by the cornets and Danish pastries. The fact that they open early in the morning was a pleasant surprise. Since he arrived early, the product names were not displayed yet, so he chose based on the atmosphere. However, everything was delicious. The bakery's proximity to Kyoto Station makes it easy to stop by casually.

Luke Honten is a small bakery located on Nishinotoindori. It is known as the go-to bakery for a famous Italian restaurant in Kyoto. Despite its cute exterior, it blends in with the surrounding residential homes, making it easy to pass by. Inside, the aroma of freshly baked bread fills the cozy space. The Mizuna sandwich (280 yen) features Kyoto's traditional vegetable, Mizuna, which adds a nice crunchy texture. The Corn Bacon (180 yen) pairs the sweetness of Hokkaido corn with the saltiness of bacon perfectly. The abundance of crunchy corn was delicious.

Located about a 7-minute walk from Kyoto Station, "Rauk" is situated along Nishi-Horikawa Street. Inside the store, you will find a variety of breads lined up, with a sandwich corner in the middle and bread being made at the back. The popular "California Uji" bread, which won the Best Technique Award at the 10th California Walnut Contest, has Uji matcha kneaded into the dough. I was intrigued, so I purchased this bread. When I tried it, I found that it had Tanba Adzuki beans and large walnuts inside, giving it a Japanese touch. The "Tamago-chan" egg sandwich was also delicious and a classic choice. I would like to try other breads as well.

Cycling for the second time while visiting. It's located in a back alley, so there's no line and you can easily walk in! The interior of the shop is small, and there's no limit on the number of people entering, so you can't take your time choosing. Also, the alcohol disinfectant is placed in a somewhat hard-to-find spot, so some people who came later didn't use it at all, which was concerning. In other shops, many remind customers to use alcohol disinfectant, which provides a sense of security. There are many types of bread, both savory and sweet, and I enjoyed them!

Rauk main store is a popular bakery located a 6-8 minute walk from Kyoto Station. It opens early in the morning and offers a variety of breads. One of their popular items is the Hokkaido croquette bread and egg roll. The fluffy roll is filled generously with egg sandwich or croquette, topped with mayonnaise and butter, making it very satisfying to eat. Despite being slightly away from the city center, Rauk main store is not as crowded as other bakeries in Kyoto, making it easier to find your favorite bread. It is definitely worth a visit when in Kyoto. Enjoy your meal!

I stopped by a shop in Umekoji Park to have lunch. I parked at a nearby coin parking and went to buy. The sandwiches, like fish burgers, egg-filled sandwiches, and hard bread like cascout, were delicious. (I forgot to take a picture because I was hungry...). However, the vanilla rusk was disappointing as it lacked the taste of vanilla and was just sweet.

When I entered the shop, the owner's wife was the only one handling sales. It was a small shop with a wide variety of bread, mostly one piece each, sometimes a few more. The selection was overwhelming! ・Camembert Cheese Bread: The description mentioned the focus on Camembert cheese, and it did not disappoint! The bread was delicious, with a soft texture and chunks of Camembert cheese inside. I will definitely come back for more! ・Croissant: The outer layer was not crispy but crumbled softly. The taste was rich and fragrant. ・(Name forgotten): The most popular item. The bread had a subtle scent of matcha, with plenty of walnuts and red beans inside. The combination of walnuts, red beans, and matcha was unique! The shop was small, but the variety of bread was unexpectedly vast. I will definitely visit again to try more!

Located a 5-minute walk north from Kyoto Station on Nishi-Teramachi Street, just past Shichijo Street, you will find a charming bakery nestled in a row house. They offer a variety of sandwiches like watercress, pork cutlet with egg salad, and yakisoba bread, but this time I purchased the Croissant Parisien (160 yen) and the most popular California Uji bread (180 yen). The croissant is on the smaller side and feels quite hard when picked up with tongs, not the most visually appealing. However, when you bite into it, the surface is crispy while the inside is moist and chewy, with a fine buttery flavor. It was delicious. The California Uji bread, shaped like a beautiful green leaf, has a subtle sweetness with a hint of matcha aroma. It contains red beans and walnuts in a moist dough. I believe this is a unique delicacy that can only be found here in Kyoto.
