It's been a while since I visited Maruyoshi Yokocho♪ It seems to have completely changed, with old traditional Japanese restaurants and Showa-era snack bars that used to be there now gone. In the midst of this, a standing bar has opened in the barren land of Soshigaya, and I heard rumors about it so I decided to check it out. When I entered, I didn't see anyone standing and drinking, but I sat in a tatami area made of beer cases next to a lively group of university students having a drinking party. I ordered a Takosan (300 yen), a Chu-hi (300 yen) with a free Pokka Lemon, and another Chu-hi (300 yen). The manager and the young female owner served the regular customers with a good vibe and energy. The place was packed around 10 pm on a weekday. Maruyoshi Yokocho still has the charm of the Showa era, and it seems worth exploring new shops. Thank you for the meal.
