My Chinese friend invited me to a restaurant that serves authentic Chinese flavors. The staff and sauces were all Chinese, so it was to be expected. They recommended the grilled noodles, so I decided to give them a try. The noodles had a strong coriander flavor and aroma in the soup, which may be a hit or miss depending on your preference for coriander. If you're okay with coriander, it's worth trying as it has a unique taste not commonly found in Japan. The grilled noodles had a mild spice flavor and seemed to be enjoyed by everyone. The portion size was about 1.5 times larger than usual, so I thought it was good value for money.

The restaurant is located on the second floor of a building in Takadanobaba, and the entrance decoration gives off a cozy vibe. Inside, both the staff and customers are foreigners, creating a lively atmosphere. I ordered the spicy beef noodle soup that looked delicious online. I didn't realize I could choose the thickness of the noodles, but it wasn't mentioned. The dish was spicy and tasty, especially with the cilantro. However, I mistakenly bought the wrong dish - spicy beef ramen instead of the knife-cut noodles I was looking forward to. The portion size was quite large, so be careful when ordering extra noodles. I went back another day for the knife-cut noodles, and they were chewy and satisfying.

I had the Spicy Beef Knife-Cut Noodles for lunch. The entrance door and interior of the restaurant have a mainland China vibe. The restaurant is clean, and each table has slightly different condiments, giving it a Chinese feel. I was overwhelmed by the ticket machine and ended up choosing the knife-cut noodles instead of the hand-pulled noodles. The Spicy Beef Knife-Cut Noodles had a light broth with the spiciness coming through prominently. In other words, it was a bit light on flavor, but adding a bit too much Zhenjiang vinegar completely transformed the taste to my liking. I personally love Zhenjiang vinegar, so it may be a matter of preference, but I recommend trying it out. Next time, I want to try the hand-pulled noodles after some research.

- Spicy Beef Knife-Cut Noodles ¥980 tax included This Chinese restaurant is located less than a 3-minute walk from Takadanobaba Station on the JR Yamanote Line, towards Waseda University. It's on the second floor of a building, and since there is no sign outside indicating that they are open, it takes quite a bit of courage to check if they are indeed open. Being a new restaurant, my curiosity got the best of me and I decided to pay a visit. As soon as you enter, there is a ticket machine with a variety of options, making it difficult to decide what to order. Additionally, it seems that there are many types of noodles available for the knife-cut noodles, and you have to choose one. Not wanting to take too much of a risk, I decided to go with the Spicy Beef Knife-Cut Noodles, a dish I have had before. The restaurant is surprisingly spacious, with not only a counter but also table seating in the back. Despite the fact that it's hard to tell from the outside whether the restaurant is open, there were several Chinese customers inside, giving it a somewhat exclusive feel. After a short wait, the dish was served. The Spicy Beef Knife-Cut Noodles looked very flavorful and spicy. I dug in right away. [Spicy Beef Knife-Cut Noodles] The bowl was larger than those at regular ramen shops, filled with plenty of soup and noodles. The portion of noodles was generous, not skimping at all. It seemed even more than a regular serving of tsukemen. Since it's a Chinese restaurant, I wasn't expecting the rich umami flavor of Japanese ramen broths. Indeed, the soup lacked depth in flavor, but it was hot and had a good spiciness that was pleasant. The distinctive scent of cilantro was also effective. The finely sliced beef added a nice touch. It was a good break from the noodles. Without it, I might have gotten tired of the dish due to the large portion. By the middle of the meal, sweat was dripping from my forehead, and my mouth was feeling quite numb. The thick and chewy texture of the knife-cut noodles stood out, and I savored the happiness of eating noodles. The sharp female staff efficiently managed the place, and it felt like the kitchen was in sync. The content was flawless, so the key will be in the proper marketing. There has been an increase in Chinese noodle shops recently, but I found this one to be particularly delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Da Wan Lanzhou Ramen and Knife-Cut Noodles is a restaurant located on the second floor of a building on the north side of Waseda Street, about 3 minutes east of Takadanobaba Station. The restaurant specializes in Lanzhou beef ramen, knife-cut noodles, and other Chinese dishes. The chef, a veteran with 6 years of experience making knife-cut noodles in Kameido, creates delicious dishes. During my visit on a weekday afternoon, I noticed that the restaurant was popular among Chinese students. The staff, including the experienced chef and friendly female servers, made me feel welcome and comfortable. The interior is simple with a long counter and several tables. The menu includes a variety of dishes such as Lanzhou beef ramen, knife-cut noodles, dry mixed noodles, liangpi, boiled dumplings, and rice noodles. I ordered the Hongshao beef ramen for 980 yen. You can choose the thickness of the noodles and adjust the spiciness level according to your preference. The noodles are made fresh in front of you by the chef, who skillfully stretches and cuts the dough before cooking it. The clear and flavorful soup is topped with cilantro, radish slices, and tender beef slices. The noodles have a chewy texture and a satisfying taste. Overall, the Lanzhou beef ramen was delicious and light, perfect for a quick and satisfying meal. I look forward to trying other dishes on my next visit.

I had spicy beef knife-cut noodles. The soup, filled with plenty of chili peppers and chili oil, had a rich beef flavor. The cilantro added a nice touch and color. The chewy knife-cut noodles paired well with the soup. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Spicy beef noodles. For some reason, I got hooked and before I knew it, I was eating it once a week. The spiciness sometimes gives me a stomachache and makes my butt burn at night, but I can't help craving it. There are a few Lanzhou ramen shops in Baba, but this one is the best and my favorite.

The taste is great, the knife-cut noodles are delicious, and the customizable thickness of the hand-made noodles is also delicious. However, the portions are too large to finish. Please offer a regular size option for those who can't finish the large portion. First-time customers may be surprised by the portion size.

Lanzhou ramen - They also gave me a paper apron and the spiciness was just right. My taste buds were happier than when I ate it in Ikebukuro.
