In the pocket area of Nishigishi in Taito Ward, near JR Uguisudani Station and Nippori Station, and Tokyo Metro Iriya Station and Minowa Station, there is a familiar family restaurant, Gusto. On a scorching hot day, I visited the area for a site inspection for a project. Planning to take a bus to Asakusa and then return by Toei Subway, I went to the bus stop. However, under the scorching sun at the bus stop, I started feeling hungry. I realized I wouldn't make it to Asakusa, so I looked for a place to take shelter or eat. Luckily, I found a Gusto right across the bus stop. It was a moment where one man's trash is another man's treasure. It was 2:30 pm on a holiday, so the restaurant was moderately crowded, but I quickly found a seat. Before ordering, I went to the restroom to freshen up. Feeling relieved, I ordered a draft beer. Instead of a mug, I was given a small glass. The server who brought it over was a charming woman in her thirties, not a robot as I had initially thought. Alcohol just tastes better when served by a human. I then looked at the menu to order some snacks. Nowadays, even family restaurants are focusing on "drinking a little," and they had a menu called "Petite Choice Menu." I ordered the "Grilled Young Chicken with Garlic Sauce" from that menu. After 4-5 minutes, the dish was brought over by the server. It was two pieces of chicken, about three bites each, on a small hot skillet. The chicken was surprisingly tender, and the rich tomato sauce with garlic aroma was delicious. As my beer ran out, I ordered a highball. The chicken paired well with the alcohol and rice. However, there were no vegetables, potatoes, or corn as side dishes. Well, considering the price, it was understandable. It was a "drinking a little" session to beat the heat. After paying, I left the restaurant. Back at the bus stop, the sun was still scorching, making me feel a bit dizzy. I waited for the bus under the shade of my hand, and eventually returned to Asakusa.
