Today's takeout adventure took me to the area around Tsukishima Station. I exited from exit 7 of the Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line Tsukishima Station and walked along the main path towards Kachidoki. After a while, I turned into Tsukishima Nishi-nakadori 3rd Street and found the restaurant "Omori-en" on my left. The restaurant used to be located on Tsukishima Nishi-nakadori 4th Street, but due to the construction of a 59-story high-rise building, they have reopened in this temporary location starting from Monday, February 7th. I arrived at the restaurant around 5:20 PM on a holiday, and the famous "Kiji Bento" was already sold out. I saw a father and son enjoying yakitori outside the restaurant, which made me crave some as well. I checked the showcase and saw items like negi-magushi, tsukune, momo, liver, tsukune with cartilage, and skin skewers. Unfortunately, the skin skewers were sold out, but I decided to wait for the momo skewers, along with negi-magushi and liver skewers. I bought the skewers, and when I turned around, I saw two more people waiting behind me. It's a popular local spot indeed. Back at home, I tried the skewers. The negi-magushi, with alternating pieces of thigh meat and green onions, was delicious with a perfect balance of fatty meat and refreshing onions. The momo skewers had a thick, firm texture with a rich taste and a satisfying bite. The liver skewers were cooked just right, tender with a delicate texture and a good amount of sauce, making them tasty. I enjoyed these yakitori skewers as a perfect accompaniment to my drink. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I couldn't make time for lunch and only had one skewer of yakitori that day. I forgot to take a photo. I believe the thigh meat skewer was 140 yen. It was a cheap and generous meat portion, like the shop I used to stop by on my way home. Yakitori is really convenient and delicious, isn't it? Thank you for the meal.

This is a long-established store with over 50 years of history, specializing in chicken, yakitori, and chicken side dishes. Last year, they relocated to 3rd Street in the Tsukishima Nishi-nakadori shopping street due to development projects, moving from 4th Street. The location is about an 8-minute walk from Tsukishima Station and Kachidoki Station on the Toei Subway. It's a street-level store on the monjayaki street. Around 11:30 am on a weekday, I visited for the first time in a few years. I knew they had moved, but they are now directly across the street from their previous location. The popular kiji bento used to be priced at a coin, but it has been adjusted to 600 yen. Considering the trend of price increases, it still feels reasonable. This time, I ordered the Large Kiji Bento for 700 yen without hesitation. The friendly landlady's pleasant customer service is still alive and well. After ordering, the chef coats the chicken with yakitori sauce and grills it on a net, so it's warm. It was ready in less than 5 minutes. I returned to my workplace and opened the kiji bento after a long time. Thinly sliced grilled chicken thigh meat, green onions, white sesame seeds, and shichimi on top of the rice. Homemade tamagoyaki (rolled omelette) and pickled Japanese ginger are served on the side. It's delicious as it is, but it's also good to eat it with the separately provided yakitori sauce. The perfect balance between the sweetness of the sauce and the spiciness of the shichimi makes it hard to stop eating the rice. The tamagoyaki oozes out a savory dashi broth from the inside, providing an elegant flavor. The pickled Japanese ginger adds a nice texture and refreshes the palate. If you have a big appetite, you could easily eat two large portions, but the taste and cost performance are undeniable! Thank you for the meal! 🏃♂️

At lunchtime, there is a chicken bento that you can buy if you time it right. It seems that you need to make a reservation or else it will be sold out. It's a bento with deliciously grilled chicken thighs. The sauce is tasty. It's a bento that can become addictive. The extra rice portion is quite large, so be careful. Thank you for the meal.

A restaurant specializing in grilled chicken skewers and chicken meat sales that relocated to Tsukishima Nakadori. It was featured in a food magazine as having been in business for 50 years, and this was its first move in 7 years. Located on the left side of Nakadori, coming from Tsukishima Station. The husband and wife run the shop with their son, and the selection has expanded. Prices remain the same as before, with items like salt tsukune, tsukune, soft knee cartilage, soft cartilage, gizzard, negima, etc. priced at 140 yen each, cash only. They provide free paper bags and plastic bags, and even offer their sauce for free or for a fee. I enjoyed them with a shochu highball for dinner at home, and the contrast between the soft cartilage of the soft knee cartilage and the crunchiness of the cartilage in the tsukune was impressive. Crossing the Tsukuda Ohashi Bridge was definitely worth it.

The popular Kiji Bento, which has become a hit among passersby. Chicken thigh meat is grilled over high heat with a sauce to create a fragrant charred finish. When spread out at Fire Park, half of the skin is charred black, giving off a burnt aroma that also infuses the other parts and rice. The pre-packaged yakitori sauce that comes with it is sweet. The tamagoyaki is slightly sweet with a firm, well-charred finish. Kiji Bento regular size ¥550. Location: About a 4-minute walk from Tsukishima Station.

Oimori-en, which recently relocated from its previous location nearby, seems to be more popular in its new store. On this day, there were about 5 people lined up, all of them aiming for the Kiji bento. By around 1 o'clock, there was always a notice on the blackboard outside saying that they were sold out, so today was lucky. It's simple, but the combination of the charcoal-grilled aroma and the sweet and savory sauce is addictive.
