I used the Ippodo Tea Co. in Tokyo to send tea to my mother. When I asked for a "sophisticated" option, they recommended "Kaboku" and "Kunpu." I found them delicious, even though I don't drink much tea. It made me realize that with the right amount of tea leaves, temperature, and time, any tea can be enjoyable. I may not be able to tell the difference in a blind taste test, but I believe these teas are delicious.

At home, I often enjoy genmaicha and hojicha green tea. The cans have cute designs that change regularly, so I gave a stylish barley tea as a summer gift. I usually choose either a chic black tea or one with gold lettering.

Located about 2 minutes from JR Shinjuku Station South Exit, on the basement floor of Shinjuku Takashimaya. Although I didn't go there myself, I had someone buy it for me. It is a specialty tea shop from Kyoto with its main store there. The staff from Ippodo Tea Co., Ltd. is in charge of sales at this store. I purchased the premium roasted green tea (100g = ¥540) for carrying in my own bottle during this season. I also wanted to buy barley tea, but unfortunately, it was only available until August... a mistake. The fragrant aroma when transferring it to my tea canister is amazing. The tea has a good flavor and a refreshing aftertaste, making it easy to drink. It is not suitable for leaving out in large quantities due to the easily dissipating aroma, but it goes well with anything, which is convenient. I must remember not to miss out on the limited edition New Year's Daifuku Tea this year. I am looking forward to trying the special Genmaicha.
