The average age of customers at this popular izakaya is slightly higher, creating a calm atmosphere. The exterior has a sophisticated feel and it is located underground, making it a bit difficult to find. However, the interior is surprisingly clean and the toilets are separate for men and women, with two women's toilets available which is nice. All seats allow smoking. The food was better than expected, although the sashimi was thinly sliced and the price for just two boiled asparagus was 600 yen, which seemed overpriced. On the other hand, the yakitori had more volume than anticipated. The pricing is a bit mysterious. The grilled octopus, fried chicken, and shirako tempura were delicious. Overall, in terms of cost performance, it may not be the best for a popular izakaya.

I ordered a highball to drink and various izakaya dishes such as crab cream croquette, edamame, cucumber, octopus karaage, and yakitori. Everything was delicious! It's a casual izakaya with a great atmosphere, so if you like that kind of vibe, definitely check it out!

Kinshicho is the third stop on the bar hopping tour, and we ended up here. Despite the old-fashioned exterior, the place is clean and spacious inside, with a welcoming atmosphere that even women feel comfortable in. We started with a High Spicy Ball cocktail for a toast. It was described as having the spiciness of red pepper and the richness of ginger, and it was exactly as described - a nicely spicy Highball that was enjoyable to drink. To refresh our palates, we ordered some mozuku seaweed vinegar. It was not too sour and had a sweet flavor, making it easy to eat. The special simmered dish with tripe was incredibly tender, cooked in a gentle white miso broth. The blowfish skin ponzu had a consistently good taste, and the portion size was generous. This place offers a variety of safe and enjoyable appetizers. After seeing other reviews, I am interested in trying the ham cutlet topped with omelette next time.

It had been a while since I went to Kagaya. I was the first customer since it was early, so I ordered a bottled beer. Then, another customer came in behind me and casually lit a cigarette. It's been a while since I saw someone smoking in an izakaya. As a non-smoker, I didn't really mind and just focused on drinking. I got so absorbed that I forgot to take any photos. I think I had the sashimi of shellfish. As always, the food and drinks were delicious. Thank you for the meal!

This place in a drinking alley near the station in Kinshicho, where it was raining, was super crowded. Although the inside of the restaurant was quite spacious, it was fully packed (we had to wait for one group ahead of us). Since it was recommended by my senior, we decided to wait. We chatted and before we knew it, we were seated. I just kept drinking shochu with hot water and plum. The grape sour and the vice sour that my seniors were drinking were served in separate bottles and glasses, and they looked so cute, like something out of Harajuku, very trendy and colorful. The hanpen cheese, namerou, and salted potato butter that we ate were all delicious! Despite the crowd, the drinks and food were served quickly, which was amazing. We finished with onigiri and ochazuke. The nori ochazuke was incredibly delicious. Looking back, we definitely ate too much. We had a very happy time at this cozy and lovely restaurant.

I have had a connection with Kaga-ya for a long time, even before starting to use Tabelog, I have been using it extensively, mostly thanks to the generosity of my seniors and bosses, so I never worried about my wallet while enjoying the drinks. Therefore, I never really understood the affordability and quality of Kaga-ya's pricing. However, with the guidance of someone knowledgeable about food, I decided to explore Kaga-ya. Among them, the motsu-nikomi in Kinshicho seems to be quite interesting. Exiting from the south exit of Kinshicho Station, I walked through the dining area of Pier Kinshicho. Despite the annoying Z-class and adult entertainment touts, I managed to find my way to Kaga-ya Kinshicho store without getting lost. Upon descending the stairs and entering the store, I found it to be quite spacious. The fact that there is a dedicated booth for smokers is also a plus. Strips of paper with dish names written on them are plastered all over the wall, all hand-written, giving it a certain charm, but it might be a bit outdated. However, I feel that this store has an exceptionally wide variety of menu items, which showcases the high level of Kaga-ya as a comprehensive izakaya. I decided to try the ham cutlet on a whim, and it came with a soft and fluffy omelette-style egg on top. With nearly 100 seats, this large establishment is quite convenient to use. By the way, the whitest motsu-nikomi I have ever seen was served at this store. It was quite dry and the miso flavor was different. However, the properly simmered umami flavor was present, showing the skill of the chef. Commercially prepared nikomi dishes are usually thin and unappetizing, but this one was different.

This is a popular izakaya. I came here for a bar hopping night. I started with a Black Hoppy set for 430 yen. For food, I ordered liver for 300 yen, negima for 300 yen, and special motsu stew for 510 yen. I asked for salt on the grilled chicken. The motsu stew had plenty of broth with lots of motsu and big pieces of tofu. It had a classic stew flavor. The grilled chicken was average. I ordered two glasses of shochu for 270 yen each. Next, I had a Vodka Sour for 400 yen and another glass of shochu for 270 yen. They offer a variety of dishes like grilled chicken, tempura, sashimi, and more.

After Marugen in Shin-ten, I headed to Kaga-ya in Kinshicho. I slipped in right when they opened. I've been coming to Kaga-ya for quite a while. It had been a while since my last visit. I decided to introduce my friend to the world of ham katsu while experiencing the charm of Kaga-ya. The entrance curtain used to be white, but now it's a deep blue. It seems to be affiliated with the Kaga-ya Kyoeikai, centered around the founder Kimura, with illustrations of a daruma doll and octopus. This place is quite spacious with 80 seats. The menu is neatly displayed on paper strips covering an entire wall (very Japanese, right?). The whiteboard displays their recommended dishes. We came here for the ham katsu, a rare find in Tokyo, and the Kaga vegetable called Kinshisou. It has purple leaves on the back and a sticky texture when boiled, similar to moroheiya. The stamina skewers are a must for a drinking buddy. And of course, we had to order the simmered dish, as it would be rude not to when at Kaga-ya. The miso soup is quite white (but not sweet), with a lot of liquid and a low viscosity, making it smooth and light. They serve plenty of green onions by default. And the obligatory shichimi to spice things up! They use the lemon sour mixer from Hoppy Hibareddi here, which I personally really like. This green bottle is a must-have for a drinking buddy, along with Kagetsu carbonated drink from Nonaka Shokuhin Kogyo Co., Ltd. The ham katsu is unexpectedly served in the style of Itami Juusan, becoming delightfully tender when cut and fried. It's quite unusual for them not to serve it whole. I enjoyed my time at Kaga-ya, savoring the history of the place while sipping away. Now, onto Ryogoku for a change of scenery.

This is an izakaya located in Kinshicho with a Tabelog score of 3.09. It's a popular spot for salarymen, serving okonomiyaki and other dishes. Despite usually being crowded, the place was empty on this day, likely due to the impact of COVID-19. I enjoyed a meal here to support the struggling business. Even after eating and drinking to my heart's content, the bill was only 5000 yen. I hope the restaurant can return to its lively atmosphere soon.

I came to have a drink with my old friends. Although the store opens at 5:00, I arrived about 10 minutes early and noticed that the curtain was out and the sign was lit, so I tried entering and they welcomed me with a "please come in." My friends arrived soon after, and we enjoyed drinks like draft beer, Hoppy, and highball, along with dishes like stamina, horse mackerel sashimi, and ham cutlet. It was a good time. As expected, drinking alcohol is the most enjoyable. It was cheap and delicious. Thank you for the meal. I will visit again.

Tokyo business trip~ ☝️ As usual, we headed to the second party. When we entered the back parlor, there were a lot of people from the company. It seems like everyone uses this place. The menu is a casual izakaya with a variety of options. We had a "Bye Sour" drink! Bye Sour festival! The plum flavor somehow feels good for the body. Skewers and potato salad... all have standard flavors, but it's a perfect place for a second party focused on drinks and conversations. I'm sure we'll come back again. Thank you for the meal~ 🍻

On Friday around 6:30 pm, when I descended the stairs leading to the underground shop, I was greeted with a lively scene! The place was almost full, with salarymen enjoying themselves. It was a lively atmosphere with about 95% men. The dishes were typical of a popular izakaya. Everything we ordered was delicious. The most unique dish was the ham cutlet with a fluffy omelette on top. Also, I really enjoyed the mackerel dish as it was fatty and had a rare texture. The tables were quite close to each other, but it didn't bother me much. The smoking rate among customers was high, but the bustling atmosphere made the drinks taste even better. Thank you for the meal.

I was taken by a friend to a big store on the first basement floor for my first visit. It was an izakaya in Kinshicho with a wide variety of menu options, making it hard to decide what to eat. I left all the ordering to my friend, and started with a highball...

Stamina-yaki, delicious ham cutlet with egg on top is a delightful dish. When I ordered stingray fin, a mysterious appetizer that seemed like fried stingray fin was served in large portions on two plates. As I wondered if that was how it was supposed to be, the actual stingray fin dish arrived. When I mentioned it to the waitress, she just laughed.

Second visit of the new year to the izakaya. Due to the cold wave and strong winds, we ended our time earlier as it was cold and dangerous. We arrived at the restaurant one hour earlier than usual, but we were warmly welcomed. We were seated in a private room which was available. As usual, we ordered a bottle of Kinmiya with Hoppy. The tuna salad was delicious.

We casually went for drinks at Kagaya for the first time! We ordered the following menu items for two people: - Kirin large bottle x2 for ¥580 each - Miso cabbage for ¥480 - Grilled mackerel for ¥680 - Onigiri (choose two from salmon, plum, pickled mustard greens, or dried baby sardines with sansho pepper) There weren't many people, so we were able to enjoy our drinks at our own pace. The grilled mackerel had a satisfying taste, and the onigiri with dried baby sardines and sansho pepper was comforting.

Beef intestine stew is one of the best I've ever had. There are many branches in Tokyo, but the menu can vary and even the size of the yakitori skewers differ. I often go to Kagaya near Ueno Station, and the food quality is clearly better at the Ueno branch compared to the Kinshicho branch. [What we ordered] - Beef intestine stew: a must-try. The soup made with white miso is excellent. - Bonjiri salt skewers: delicious. - Stamina yakitori skewers: the Ueno branch is much better than the Kinshicho branch in terms of meat size and flavor. - Raw octopus tempura: not recommended. It tasted like raw octopus forced into tempura style. - Raw sea cucumber with ponzu sauce: the ponzu sauce was too overpowering. Overall, I'll probably just order the beef intestine stew and bonjiri skewers next time and enjoy a quick drink before heading home.
