Located a 2-3 minute walk from Kawaramachi, this meat-centric yakiniku restaurant on Yanagikoji Street has earned one Michelin star and a 3.59 rating on Tabelog as of February 19, 2023. Intrigued by the restaurant's focus on meat and vegetables, I decided to visit. They only offer set courses, but you can easily make a reservation even on the day of. The course I had that day cost 8,200 yen and included: Achilles tendon with ponzu sauce, heart and liver Chinese-style, honeycomb tripe with sesame dressing, sushi with beef intestines, liver and tongue, isobeage (fried fish cake), dan go (sweet dumplings), grilled offal (swine stomach, honeycomb tripe, beef tongue, beef cheek), salad, crispy beef tongue hot pot, Chinese noodles as the final course, and dessert. The Achilles tendon had a tough texture and was served refreshing with ponzu sauce and grated daikon. The liver and leek dish was cooked at low temperature in soy sauce, while the tongue was mixed with salted kelp and citrus juice. The various cuts of offal were served without any unpleasant odor, allowing the unique flavors and textures of each part to shine. However, the crispy beef tongue hot pot was average, and the Chinese noodles were overcooked. Despite the restaurant's name emphasizing vegetables ("yasai"), very few vegetables were served. Even the salad portion was minimal, with a limited variety. The portions of each dish were also very small, leaving me feeling only slightly satisfied after finishing the course. While the quality of the meat was good, the overall value for money did not seem to be very high. The service and atmosphere were pleasant, though.
