On the last day in Kyoto, I went to Sato-san for lunch, located on the south side of Gion. Lunch requires a complete reservation. Last year, my daughter's high school club friends asked her for recommendations for a nice place in Kyoto with a Kyoto-like atmosphere, good food, and a budget of around 8000 yen per person including drinks. I recommended this place, and they sent a thank you letter and souvenir afterwards. I decided to visit again and made a reservation. On this day, there were two chefs welcoming us, and we started with beer and ginger ale. We had appetizers, clam hot pot, assorted dishes, sushi, mackerel sushi, rolled omelette, miso soup, and fresh fruits for dessert. The lunch course, which was around 6000 yen, was very satisfying. It's a lovely restaurant in the south side of Gion where you can enjoy a delicious lunch at a reasonable price. I'm glad I recommended it to my daughter's friend. I would love to visit again. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I made a reservation at a famous sushi restaurant in Gion, located on the Hanami Koji street before Kennin-ji Temple. I arrived around 7 pm and sat at the calm and cozy counter with 8 seats. I ordered a variety of dishes a la carte, including appetizers, assorted sashimi, grilled ayu fish, fried small taro, and corn tempura, all of which were excellent. The sushi was perfect and the selection of Japanese sake was delicious. I would definitely want to come back again.

Located in Gion Hanami Koji. At night, the atmosphere changes and you can immerse yourself in the night of Kyoto. The pricing is reasonable and even young people can feel safe going in. The food is not disappointing either. Everything tastes delicious without fail. Sitting at the counter makes it easy to have a fun conversation with the staff and other customers, creating a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. You can order a la carte as well as courses, which is great when you just want a little something tasty to nibble on while drinking. A place to go when you want to enjoy good food. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

This is my second visit, but this time I went with acquaintances other than those from Tabelog. We started with a Tai ragi appetizer and clam soup. It was a similar setup to last time. Next was the hassun dish. The first karasumi of the season was delicious. Since my acquaintances are not food enthusiasts, we ended up talking about the outside world rather than food. I wish I had eaten more enthusiastically. I felt sorry for the restaurant, but I was satisfied.

I go to Kyoto almost every month, but I can't remember the streets there... ( ・∀・) This day, I went to see the cherry blossoms in Kyoto, and although there were a lot of people, it wasn't as bad as I thought? Well, the weather is nice, so to save costs, I had a light drink by the Kamogawa River. It feels good to be the center of attention from others (*´-`)♪ [Gion Sato] There are a lot of exclusive-looking shops in Gion, as expected. They offer a course where you can enjoy both traditional Japanese cuisine and sushi. There are also à la carte options at night, so it seems very convenient. After toasting with a chaser beer, I switched to sake immediately (*゚∀゚*) ■ Appetizer - Clam and spring vegetable vinegar dish This combination is amazing! The vinegar is not too strong, and the clams are chewy and delicious. ■ Soup - Sweet sea bream with winter melon It is made with a gentle touch of seaweed and nori. The sweet sea bream is delicious and chewy. ■ Assorted dishes - Sweet sea bream, small taro, sea bream roe, vinegared sardine, simmered bamboo shoot, saury sushi, grilled bonito, and karasumi This is... (゜ロ゜)!! All appetizers♡ I love them all♡ I can't help but drink sake with these dishes (*´ω`*) From here on, we have sushi↓↓ ■ Sushi - Sweet sea bream with kelp, marinated tuna, squid, horse mackerel, salmon roe, mackerel, conger eel, and rolled bonito The sushi is simple, without red vinegar, and I felt that the toppings were a bit lacking in flavor ( ・∀・) The thick mackerel was the most delicious♪ ■ Dessert - Strawberry and something else It gives off a traditional Japanese cuisine vibe... It's perfect for those who prefer simple and straightforward dishes ( ・∀・) It was almost like having the place to ourselves, and we were able to enjoy a leisurely time. It's a hidden gem to find a place like this in spring in Kyoto (*゚∀゚*) Well, I should go see the cherry blossoms now♪ Oh, I'm still on my way back from Kyoto~ヽ( ・∀・)ノ

I suddenly felt like eating sushi, so I visited this place where you can enjoy a variety of a la carte dishes and finish with sushi. I made a reservation the day before and arrived at 5:00 pm when the restaurant opened. I was seated at the clean, white counter. Here is what I had: Ginger ale Draft beer Chilled sake (Shimeharitsuru Junmai Ginjo, 1 cup) Appetizer: simmered fuki and young bamboo shoots, rice octopus, and marinated sea bream Sashimi platter: sea bream, horse mackerel, and fried bamboo shoots and taro sprouts Tempura: dashimaki, sweetfish, grilled sea bream, salt-grilled water eggplant Sushi: sea bream, herring, seared shrimp, simmered abalone, sea urchin, grilled conger eel, mackerel sushi, simmered clams, plum shiso roll, cucumber roll, red miso soup The restaurant was almost empty for the first hour, so I was able to enjoy my meal leisurely. The restaurant is run by the owner, another chef, a female manager, and two female staff members. I didn't opt for a course meal this time, but the a la carte menu was extensive. The flavors were subtle and elegant, showcasing the quality of the ingredients. The sushi rice had a slight sweetness typical of Kansai-style sushi, with a well-balanced vinegar seasoning. It may not satisfy those looking for authentic sushi, but the variety of toppings like simmered abalone and clams make it enjoyable as a sushi finale. This place is perfect for those who want to enjoy both traditional Japanese cuisine and sushi. I personally love this kind of restaurant and would like to visit again when I want to indulge in a variety of dishes.

This year, my daughter requested sushi for her birthday, so I made a reservation at a highly recommended restaurant. It was a quiet day with no other customers, so we were able to enjoy our meal peacefully. We opted for the chef's choice course, which included dishes like clam and wild vegetable salad, red clam sashimi, fugu and ginkgo tempura, and more. The sushi was simple and fresh, with a light touch in seasoning. Overall, it was a satisfying experience, and the bill came out to be around 30,000 yen for two people. The staff were attentive and considerate, making it a pleasant birthday celebration. Thank you to my followers for the great recommendation!

I rate this restaurant as follows: Food 4.3 | Service 4.2 | Atmosphere 4.2 | Value for money 4.2 | Drinks 4.0. I was invited by a senior member to visit this restaurant. The seasonal set menu with sushi was priced at 5,800 yen, including drinks, which is quite reasonable for Gion. I enjoyed a shochu soda with my meal. The appetizer of mackerel and clam soup was refreshing and delicious. The assorted appetizers were well-balanced with a variety of flavors. The sushi selection was beautifully presented with various techniques. The red miso soup with persimmon and apple was a delightful finish to the meal. Overall, it was a pleasant lunch experience with lively service. This is my 1600th review, and I will continue to contribute despite the challenges in the review environment. Thank you.

In the south of Gion, slightly west of Hanamikoji, there is a restaurant. I accidentally passed by and ended up circling the surrounding alleys twice before finding it. The restaurant has 8 counter seats on the first floor and private rooms on the second floor. On this day, I went for lunch with two other people. The lunch course here is very affordable, with seasonal dishes and sushi set priced at 5800 yen. The meal included: - Appetizer: Mackerel wrapped in turnip - Soup: Clam soup - Side dishes: Onion soup, liver, scallop and vegetables, kelp, grilled mackerel, vegetable simmered dish, ginkgo rice - Sushi: Marinated sea bream, tuna, swordtip squid, horse mackerel, salmon roe, mackerel sushi, eel, negitoro roll - Red miso soup - Dessert: Persimmon and apple - Drinks: Draft beer, cold sake The sushi was made with white vinegar rice in bite-size pieces, similar to traditional Edo-style sushi. Each piece was delicious and tasted like it was from a high-end sushi restaurant. The meal was accompanied by several glasses of beer and sake. The restaurant is run by a chef who honed his skills at a famous hotel and recently opened this new location. With such quality and value, this restaurant is sure to become popular. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

I visited this restaurant based on the review from Mr. Mairevi. It is located on Dan Kuri Street north of Kennin-ji Temple, with Hanami Koji bustling on a Sunday afternoon due to a horse racing event. Winds Kyoto is located northeast of Kennin-ji Temple. When we walked up a street one block to the west, we entered a quiet world. I met up with two friends. There was only one other couple already there, who seemed quite young. The restaurant was filled with the aroma of dashi. We ordered the sushi kaiseki set for 5800 yen including tax. The appetizer was a mackerel roll, which was light and captured my heart completely. The hassun included a warm onion and white fish soup, ankimo, and scallop with yolk and vinegar miso. The sushi course featured seared sea bream marinated in kombu, which also captured my heart. We enjoyed a good variety of sushi throughout the meal. It was a delightful experience in the peaceful atmosphere.

I made a reservation on the same day without any prior introduction. It was actually my last day of a business trip to Kyoto, and I had to catch the Shinkansen, so I was in a hurry even though it was my first time at the restaurant. Despite this, I was deeply moved by the thoughtful and kind service. I didn't take many photos, but everything was delicate and delicious. I'm not a big fan of grilled dishes, but the Moroko-yaki was really delicious. The sushi was also to my liking.

I visited this restaurant after seeing it featured in a magazine called "Delicious! Kyoto" and it looked delicious. The location is right across from a place I visited before, "Kitazato," so I found it easily. The exterior and interior of the restaurant are clean and inviting. First, I toasted with a beer. The "Scallop and Tomato Vinegar" dish was refreshing and a perfect way to forget about the summer heat. The sashimi selection was all delicious, but the "Sea Bream Belly from Akashi" was particularly outstanding. The "Soup with Conger Eel and New Turnip" was extremely hot, but the taste was great. I had a cold sake from Nara. The "Hassun" platter included various dishes like steamed abalone, botan shrimp, beef tendon, and more. I ordered a highball with Taketsuru whiskey, which made me crave for sake. Then, I had 8 pieces of sushi, miso soup, and some additional dishes. The menu had a list of ingredients, and the owner, Mr. Sato, who used to work at Hotel Okura, mentioned that they offer a la carte options in the evening. I will definitely come back in the evening to try more dishes and sushi.
