The other day, I had affordable eel in Naruse, but when I visited the Kanda store, it was closed... I thought about trying something else, but I was craving eel, so I decided to take the train to get some. I checked their website and found out that the nearest Shinbashi store was closed too. The Akihabara store doesn't accept cashless payments, so after some hesitation, I decided to transfer trains and go to Nihonbashi. It's behind Marui, and although it was early, there were surprisingly many families with children. I chose a seat where I could see the grilling area. I looked at the menu and although the popular choice was the double eel bowl, I decided to go for the eel box instead. I hesitated between the surprise box with a whole eel and the special eel box (1,800 yen), but considering the cost performance, the special one seemed more appealing. Most of the other customers were ordering the double eel bowl. After about 5 minutes of waiting while watching the eels being grilled, my order arrived. The size of the eel was as expected, not too big. I picked up a piece with my chopsticks and tasted it. It wasn't too thick, but it had a good thickness. The eel was nicely grilled. The sauce was sweet and savory, a bit too strong for my taste. It remained the same even when eaten with rice. There was extra sauce on the table, so maybe some people prefer a stronger taste. I personally prefer it a bit milder. I sprinkled some sansho pepper on the remaining eel and rice and finished my meal. The eel and rice were both quite filling, but I couldn't help but feel a bit regretful that I didn't go for the whole eel. After finishing the eel box, I took a break and paid the bill. They accept payment with transportation electronic money.

Do not have high expectations for the 1,000 yen eel dish. It is good value for money. If you prioritize taste, do not go. It is better to enjoy the double eel bowl thinking it has better value for money than a beef bowl chain. I tried ordering some side dishes, but that was unnecessary.

Unatoto for lunch. I walked from the office in the heat. I thought I could eat slowly the day after Doyo. I started going to Unatoto in Shinbashi and now I'm happy that there is a shop in Kinshicho. My go-to order is the eel rice bowl (with 3 pieces), umaki, no liver, and a highball. But with summer fatigue, it's hard to eat rice, so I ordered a double eel bowl with less rice... Unfortunately, they're not serving umaki now (seems like it's not available until early August due to Doyo). Skipped the liver because it makes me sweat a lot, and went for a super cold highball instead. The eel was fluffy and surprisingly went well with the rice. Wait, did my summer fatigue already go away?? I finished it all in one go. I'll go eat umaki soon♪

In the midst of summer, I went to this restaurant alone at around 11 in the morning. I wasn't sure if they were open, but when I asked, they kindly welcomed me in. I decided to order the biggest item on the menu, and when I saw the surprisingly large Unagi (eel) dish, I added a double portion. It turned out to be a lot of food, with thick eel skin, and although it was delicious, I ended up with a bit of a stomachache afterwards. Thank you for the meal.

It's perfect when you want to eat eel. Two pieces of eel for 590 yen in an eel bowl! That's the right price for eel, right? If you want to enjoy it luxuriously with delicious sake while waiting for it to be grilled, there are other places as well, but this time I was satisfied with both the sauce and the grilling.

This chain's grilled eel bowl, the second store following Asakusa. The effect of grilling directly over charcoal is outstanding, resulting in a thick and fragrant grilled eel. It may be a bit firm (my companion's eel was fluffy), but the unpleasant small bones that remain with gas grilling are not felt at all. This is unique to charcoal grilling. Don't have preconceptions like eel must be fluffy or the price is cheap; that's the key to enjoying it deliciously. An eel bowl for just over 1,000 yen, a gourmet experience unique to this place. The rice is definitely Niigata Koshihikari, cooked fluffy to absorb the flavor of the eel and sauce well. This time, the rice temperature was a bit lukewarm, but I am satisfied and content. I will definitely visit again.

This morning, while scrolling through my timeline, I came across a funky review from a cool senpai that said, "Utanoto is doing a special promotion until the 21st, Utanome Giga Mashi Plus." That caught my attention! Since I've been on an eel streak lately, it's a perfect opportunity for a comparison. Today, I'm definitely going to Utanoto! I tried Utanoto once a while back, and to be honest, it didn't really impress me, so I haven't been back since. But when I hear about these limited-time deals, I just can't resist (not that I need to resist). What's this Giga Mashi Plus all about? It's a bowl of rice topped with eel pieces, four times the amount of the regular Utanome for a fixed price of 1200 yen. I got this info from a review I read. In the morning, I was debating which branch to visit, as the closest ones are either Hatchobori or Kanda. Both require a walk or a transfer. But when I mentioned this to a client, they suggested taking a bus from there to Kinshicho. Great info! So off to Kinshicho I go! It's Friday morning, just before the store opens at 11 am. "Please wait a little longer," they said as they prepared to open. Nearby, there's Kameido Gyoza. Oh, I haven't been there in a while, but today it's all about the eel. Alright, the store is open! I wasted no time and ordered the Giga Mashi Plus with extra large serving (1200 yen). Let's see how it tastes. In just over 5 minutes, it arrived! The appearance may be a bit underwhelming, but let's taste it. Hmm, I see, it's this type of eel dish. I'm not sure how to describe it. The texture is soft but not fluffy, more on the sticky side due to the sauce. It may not sound great when I put it like this, but it's not bad at all. Even with the extra large rice portion, you can eat it comfortably without skimping on the eel. And this is only 1200 yen. If I complained about this, I'd be cursed. I didn't have to worry about small bones, and I could enjoy it without any issues. I even added some sansho pepper halfway through, and it changed the atmosphere a bit. Well, I finished it. Of course, compared to eel dishes that cost twice as much, this may not be as fancy, but for 1200 yen, I would definitely eat this Giga Mashi Plus again. That was my lunch experience. I asked the staff how much eel is in the Unameshi Giga+ for 1200 yen, and they said it's between Unajujo and Unajutokujo. Excited, I ordered it. With unlimited pickled vegetables, I enjoyed it until the end while feeling refreshed. Personally, I felt like there was about the same amount of eel as in Unajujo. But I was satisfied with eating eel. It's different from the eel at some other place (lol).

I went to a cozy eel restaurant. I ordered a double eel bowl. The eel pieces were a bit smaller than before, but still satisfying. The double size comes with extra rice for free. I like to sprinkle a lot of sansho pepper on my eel, so I cover it like furikake. There is also extra sauce on the table, so I can eat the rice with just the sauce. It was delicious.

They do this every year, don't they? This year, the number of eels has increased from 3 times to 4 times, and the name now includes the word "plus." It had been a while since I visited the Kinshicho store. The facilities and interior are the same, but the atmosphere has improved. The draft beer is 600 yen, but on weekdays it's discounted to 330 yen. I ordered it! You can see part of the kitchen from the dining area. It looks like they are grilling the eel again on charcoal after it is cooked once. For some reason, the eel rice is prepared in the back kitchen. Maybe because it is thinly sliced and cannot be grilled on charcoal? The eel rice, now 4 times the previous amount, doesn't seem to have changed much from the 3 times before... The sauce is not very strong in flavor. There is extra sauce on the counter, so if you like it stronger, you can add more. I'm not sure why they slice it thinly, but it seems like they are not using any strange pieces like end cuts. I feel like you would be more satisfied by purchasing a double eel bowl for the same price.

It was lunchtime and they only had donburi and set meals available, which was a bit of a problem since they didn't even have menus. However, they said they could make kushikatsu with kuri kara & liver, so I ordered that (which was much appreciated). After that, I had a quick highball before leaving because I was going to lunch with a friend. Most standing bars are closed on Monday afternoons, so I was happy to find this place open. I'll definitely consider using it for future bar hopping adventures!

A 3-minute walk from Kinshicho Station, there is a place where you can easily enjoy delicious unagi bowls. I visited during a late lunch on a weekday and had a double unagi bowl and a draft beer for around 1400 yen. The portion of rice is a bit small, but you can get a free extra-large serving. The unagi is flavorful and tasty even at this price. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is welcoming, with a main counter where it's easy for solo diners to eat. Thank you for the meal!

I always appreciate MyReby's "Omusan" for sharing great deals. Thanks to them, I found out that the eel chain restaurant is offering a limited-time "Giga Mori" set. I was excited to try it out. The nearest branch in Ichikawa has closed down, so I looked up the next closest one. The set includes 3 servings of eel and a free extra-large rice portion, without sliced seaweed, for 1,100 yen including tax. The eel portion seemed to be more generous than usual, but the quality was just average. The texture was a bit firm, which I personally liked as a fan of grilled eel. However, those who prefer a softer texture might not enjoy it as much. The eel pieces were thinly sliced, so it was hard to determine the exact quantity. Opting for the extra-large rice portion ensured that there was no leftover eel or rice. I enjoyed the meal by using the condiments provided on the table. As a side note, the offer is available until the 19th, so I strategically visited during a late lunch at around 3 pm to avoid the crowds and succeeded in having the place to myself. I was so thrilled about it. Unfortunately, I forgot to claim the complimentary red miso soup offered through the LINE app. On my way back, I leisurely checked out another branch of the same restaurant.

Eel is my favorite food. Yesterday, I tried eel cutlet for the first time. It was delicious. But there was a restaurant that I had been wanting to visit for years. I happened to stumble upon it while walking near the meeting place. I couldn't resist and went in right away. It's a chain restaurant called "Meidaishin and Unagi," which opened a few years ago. They offer a beef bowl with eel version, which I might try next time. They have restaurants in Tokyo, Chiba, Kanagawa, and all over Kansai. There is also a takeout-only store in Sapporo, but it's not under the same name. The menu looks so appetizing. The double eel bowl costs 1100 yen, and a regular eel bowl is only 590 yen. Very tempting. If they had one in Asahikawa, I would definitely eat there more often. I've always wanted to try the 2500 yen "bikkuri juu" (surprise heavy) bowl someday. They even have "hitsumabushi" eel dish. Eel lovers will be thrilled. They also have side dishes and even yakitori. Maybe it turns into a bar at night? Well, enjoying a bowl of eel is a luxurious experience. The restaurant is small with only a counter and high tables for two. It's like a bar setup. And there is no air conditioning inside. The door is open, and they use charcoal grills, which might explain why there's no air conditioning. To enjoy cheap eel, you have to endure the sweltering heat. The double eel bowl for 1100 yen is what I've always wanted to try. I opted for the double eel bowl, and you can get extra rice for free. Let's savor the eel. The eel pieces were a bit tough and lacked a juicy texture. The sauce was slightly sweet, and you can add more to your liking. Overall, it was good for the price. Personally, I think Yoshinoya's eel bowl is more tender and flavorful. I should visit Yoshinoya for their eel and beef bowl again this year. It's a good place to go when you want to eat eel cheaply. It's located in an area with many adult entertainment establishments in Kinshicho, so they seem to target that area. It's cheaper than going to a conveyor belt sushi restaurant, and they grill the eel for you, so it's warm and easy to eat. It was fun to eat it with sprinkled sansho pepper and pickled ginger as accents.

I used to hate eel, but now I've come to like it and even visit eel fast food restaurants. Location is near the Kinshicho Station South Exit, in a corner of the horse racing town with JRA. It's close to Kameido Gyoza, where there's a line during lunchtime. I visited during a Sunday lunch break. The atmosphere and service are typical of a chain restaurant, a bit mechanical. The staff, though young, follow their routines properly. The restaurant was about 40% full, with a relaxed atmosphere. I ordered the grilled eel over rice for 800 yen, eel liver for 160 yen, and pickles for 110 yen. The food was served in less than 10 minutes after seating. It's fast food eel, so it's pre-cooked and grilled, which makes for quick service. The eel had a good amount of fat, but lacked the soft and tender texture. However, it was nicely grilled over charcoal, giving it a crispy texture that I enjoyed more than I expected. There was a slight fishy smell, but it was masked by the sansho pepper. Considering the price, getting charcoal-grilled eel at this quality is impressive. Unlike high-end eel brands that are rich and filling, this one was surprisingly easy to finish. (I had preconceptions about a strong fishy smell and thought I might give up halfway, but I was pleasantly surprised.) This was my first time at Unatoto. A few years ago, I wouldn't have even considered coming here, so it's a sign of growth for me. I'll definitely be back! Thank you for the meal.

In Kinshicho, I had plans to meet a friend, but our usual yakitori spot and the popular izakaya chain were both fully packed. What a surprise! Was there a horse race today? Then, I noticed this place. I've had their eel dishes multiple times, but it seems they've started serving as an izakaya at night. It's different from the casual drinking spots of gyudon chains, more authentic. The dishes, as shown in the photo, all looked quite appealing. They seem to combine the grilling skills of an eel restaurant with a charcoal grill. The yakitori had great sauce and perfect grilling. And the prices were quite reasonable! I left satisfied. It's a chain store, but they were having an event so I decided to go in. They probably cut the eel into small pieces and put it in a bowl in a way that they can't do in the regular store. How can they offer this for 1100 yen? It must be the result of corporate efforts! The taste is average. It definitely tastes like eel and it's not bad. It's not amazing, but it's tasty!
