On the weekend, I was drinking nearby and decided to drop into a yakitori restaurant about 100 meters away. When I asked if there were any recommendations for a second place to drink, I was referred to a place that turned out to be a big hit! The exterior had a stylish atmosphere that didn't seem typical of Ryogoku. Inside, there was a counter for up to 8 people and a few table seats for couples. At first, I was a bit nervous, but the cool yet friendly master told us about the drinks and the town. This time, I had two drinks and some homemade dried fruits. There was a fruit cocktail on the blackboard with the word "Myoga." Myoga?! I was so curious that when I found out it was made with gin, I immediately decided to try it (I like gin). I can't remember the type of gin, but watching the process of muddling and finishing was really enjoyable. When I took a sip, I was impressed. Gin and myoga really go well together! Both were refreshing and fantastic. And the drink served in a fancy glass with ice got me really excited. As I continued to enjoy my drinks, I tried the "Borderless Gin," a cocktail made with three different types of gin from different distilleries with a common theme. I got to smell each one and choose my favorite. I chose the gin from Yokohama's distillery. It was also rich in aroma and very delicious. I was amazed by the master's skills. The homemade dried fruits we had as a snack were varied with kumquats, kiwi, apples, and more. They were delicious! Later, when I mentioned this place to a friend who knows Ryogoku well, they said, "It's the best place to drink in Ryogoku, right?" I was happy to have stumbled upon such a great spot without any prior research. I definitely want to visit again. Visiting again rating: Excellent. Visit evaluation: 3.14

A hidden bar located a little away from the station. The interior was calming and they offered a good variety of dishes. It was our second stop, so we mainly focused on drinks and the gin-based drink they recommended was really good! I would love to visit this place again!

I visited this place for the second time. For my first drink, I tried the fresh fruit kiwi cocktail listed on the chalkboard, with rum as the base. It had a slightly tropical taste. The mojito was a bit watered down, but still very easy to drink. Then I had whiskey, first a Twice Up and then straight. For my last drink, I asked for the recommended cocktail, which was a long drink with gin and mint. The gin used was Tanqueray, which was served at room temperature - apparently, this helps bring out the aroma. The place seemed to have many regular customers, and the bartender was friendly. The back bar didn't have any standout features, but it had a good variety of drinks. I would definitely visit again in the future.

A bar located along a major street connecting Morishita and Ryogoku. Despite the casual location, the interior exudes a chic and authentic atmosphere. The background music includes classical arrangements of anime songs, showing the effort to connect with a wide range of customers. The seasonal cocktail featuring kumquats is a standout, and the classic short and long cocktails are all of high quality, priced at just under 1000 yen. The food menu is also extensive and satisfying. A place you'd want to frequent if you lived nearby.

As always, Pikachu's place in this neighborhood. The point on Tabelog about this place is just ridiculous. The tequila-based "Charming Lady" cocktail, which even the beautiful bartenders in sleeveless shirts couldn't resist, is excellent.

I searched for a restaurant focusing on alcohol for my second choice. They answered various questions about fruit pairings, chocolate pairings, and more.

The bar has a wide variety of alcohol and the bartenders are friendly. I often visit this place because they have a good selection of cigars, which is rare in this area. I highly recommend it!

After having dinner in Morishita, I was introduced to this place by my junior. I called ahead and was told they had availability, so I took a taxi there. The interior of the bar is quite authentic, more geared towards adults. They are known for their cocktails made with fruits. They have a variety of seasonal fruits like Japanese pears and strawberries. We ordered some chocolate and cheese for snacks, all of which were delicious. The food menu is also extensive. I had the risotto, which was very tasty. It's the kind of bar where you can casually drop by.

It seems like they only visit on anniversaries. They should reflect on that.

A bar located between Ryogoku and Morishita along Kiyosumi Street. The exterior may not look very inviting at first glance, making it hard to tell if it's a beauty salon, a barber shop, or a bar. It turned out to be a bar with a wide variety of food menu. After dining at Tokiyama and walking 20 minutes from Kiyosumi-Shirakawa in a drunken state, I entered the bar. I was already full, so I didn't think about food. I was seated at the counter and observed the shelves at the back, filled with various bottles of alcohol. I ordered a Johnny Walker Blue Label on the rocks, followed by a Daiquiri on the rocks, and then a white beer called Leavenbroy. Even though they didn't have it, the recommended white beer was delicious. I finished with a Laphroaig. The bartender is willing to serve or make drinks according to your preference. It's a great place for drinkers. Next time, I want to enjoy the food menu on an empty stomach and enter the bar soberly (lol).

I used to work night shifts and my free time was limited, but I found the time I spent at this restaurant to be very valuable. In my personal opinion, the unique and sophisticated atmosphere of this place makes the experience special. So to all the regular customers, staff, and especially the master, I think, "There aren't many places as refined as this." Whether you're a first-timer or a regular, this is a welcoming place that I recommend visiting if you ever find yourself in Ryogoku.

Recently, I discovered a cozy bar on my way back from a nearby soba restaurant called "Nanmaya." I have visited this bar about three times in the past month since my first visit. The master and bartender are young but very attentive, creating a welcoming atmosphere that is easy for newcomers to feel comfortable in. The food here is incredibly delicious. I can't remember the name, but I believe it was something like "Ebi no Pippi-fu" (meaning simmered). The garlic flavor was perfectly balanced and became addictive. Although I was already full, I couldn't resist ordering the shrimp and scallop pasta, which was absolutely amazing in terms of cooking and seasoning. I highly recommend dining here over going to some strange Italian restaurant in the area. As for drinks, I recommend trying their fruit cocktails. My top recommendation is "Hitorijime" (watermelon), which may sound surprising but is sweet with a perfect hint of saltiness. Second place goes to plum for its refreshing taste, and white peach takes third place for its consistently delicious flavor. All the fruit cocktails have a great level of sweetness. Also, eating the chocolate with wine or whiskey is dangerously good. I mainly drink fruit cocktails here, with maybe two glasses of red wine, which were surprisingly good. I think it would be even better if they had more options for glass wines (they might have more, I'll have to ask). This is a highly recommended place for first-timers and those who are not fond of alcohol, with good value for money.

I first visited this place around August last year. It was around 10 pm, and I really wanted to have a drink, so I searched online for a bar near my workplace and found this place called "Ryogoku Bar". I had no idea about its reputation, so I was a bit nervous when I opened the door. But as soon as I entered, I was greeted with a warm "Welcome!" There was a bar counter in front and a few tables in the back. I chose to sit at the counter and ordered a gin and tonic, letting the staff surprise me with the choice of gin. They used Tanqueray. I introduced myself to the two staff members and chatted with them for a while, while also checking out the back bar. I saw various bottles of my favorite Islay malts and even my beloved Ron Zacapa Centenario rum. When I asked about other gins besides Tanqueray, they listed Beefeater, Gordon's, Bombay, Old Tom, and surprisingly, "Victorian Bat"! I was thrilled to see Victorian Bat, and when I asked if they had the cask version, they confirmed that they did. I was impressed. I have visited this place a few times since then, but lately, work has kept me busy so I haven't been able to go. I highly recommend this bar to anyone who is new to visiting bars.
