I went to a tempura restaurant on the 8th floor of Nihonbashi Takashimaya after a long time. The counter seats were fully booked, so I sat at a table. I ordered a tempura bowl. It had shrimp, sandfish, conger eel, shiitake mushroom stuffed with shrimp, asparagus, and small shrimp tempura. It also came with pickles and miso soup. The tempura bowl had just the right amount of flavor, not too strong or too light, and was delicious.

Visited the store around 5:30 pm on Sunday, June 4, 2023. In the main building of Nihonbashi Takashimaya, there are event spaces and dining areas, and one corner houses Tenichi. Since it was a bit early for dinner, I was able to get a table right away. I ordered the Tenichi set meal with plum (¥3190). It came with two prawns, sweet potato, and tempura, among other dishes. The prawns were served with salt and lemon, and the sweet potato was crispy with grated radish in tempura dipping sauce. Delicious. The set also included chawanmushi, clam red miso soup, simmered hijiki seaweed, salad, pickles, and rice. Overall, everything was well-prepared and tasty. I would like to visit the main branch of Tenichi someday. By the way, there were photos of famous people who had visited Ginza Tenichi on the wall. Kofi Annan, Bill Clinton, Frank Sinatra, Jacques Chirac, Mikhail Gorbachev, Nancy Reagan, and one big photo that I couldn't identify. I wonder who that is.

I was able to come in at a convenient time between lunch and dinner because I skipped lunch to work. It was almost empty as it was off-peak hours, with only one other group present. I chose the seasonal menu "Early Summer Meal" for around 4,180 yen. The freshly fried dishes were not greasy and had a nice crispiness, with a pleasant bitterness from the young sweetfish, and the sweetness of young corn and asparagus was delicious. The rice was cooked to my liking, and the pickles were also tasty. Although the chawanmushi (steamed egg custard) did not appear in the photo, it was served later. I prefer to start with chawanmushi, so that was a bit disappointing, but overall, it was a hidden gem as it was not crowded!

I didn't make it in time for lunch, so I ordered the regular menu instead of the lunch menu. I tried the "Tendon Matsutake" and "Matsunoebi" which was different from Matsunoebi. I had always thought that the best tempura shrimp was the "kurumaebi" shrimp, so it was a nice surprise to find out that they used "saimaki ebi" shrimp. The shrimp had a soft and fluffy texture, and I could taste its sweetness. However, the shrimp was on the smaller side, so it felt a bit lacking in volume. The tempura also included my favorites, anago and tachiuo, and the asparagus tempura was especially delicious. Overall, the food was tasty, but the price was a bit high for what you get. However, eating at a department store always feels special, so it's worth it. It was delicious, thank you for the meal!

I went to Ginza Tenichi at the Takashimaya Nihonbashi store to buy a RIMOWA suitcase, but it was sold out. Since I was already at Takashimaya, I decided to check out the food court where I found many delicious-looking restaurants. I headed to Tenichi and ordered the tempura set meal. I personally prefer eating tempura at my own pace rather than in a course meal setting. The tempura set was delicious and I finished it quickly. Personally, I preferred eating it with salt. Ginza Tenichi at Takashimaya Nihonbashi store is open from 11:00 to 21:00 on Sundays. #Tenichi #tempura #Takashimaya #departmentstoregourmet #rimowa #foodstagram #tempura #foodporn #foodblogger #dinnergram #eatingoutdiary #japanesefood #washoku #setmeal

When dining with children, tempura can seem intimidating, but this restaurant in a department store was child-friendly with kids' chairs available. The lunch set with tempura and kakiage bowl was recommended for adults. The shrimp tempura was on the cheaper side, but the vegetable tempura was delicious. The children's tempura set even came with a toy. The shrimp tempura with sauce was a bit spicy for the kids, so maybe less sauce would have been better. The rotation was quick. Thank you for the meal.

I used it for lunch with a friend. The interior of the restaurant is simple and clean. We ordered the summer meal. The tempura was crispy and perfectly fried, very delicious. The curry salt added a nice touch, making the whole meal refreshing and perfect for summer. I was very satisfied and would like to visit again.

*** Malouin's Smug Tongue *** Just for your information, how happy was my heart? I went to Takashimaya to pay the accumulated membership fees for my friends' group due to the coronavirus. There were few stores open in the department store after 3 pm, so it was my first time here. After ordering, the sound of tempura being fried echoed to our table. The sound and smell made my heart happy and raised my expectations. A tempura bowl costing over 3000 yen was served. After taking a bite or two, my heart's happiness quickly faded. How much did my taste buds groan? The white fish had a fishy smell. The shrimp had a chemical odor. And I couldn't help but think, "Is this tempura freshly fried?" Do my legs naturally want to come back here again? My legs said that I should never come back here again. How did our family's finance minister react to the bill? An unreasonably high price for a tempura bowl that lacks value. In a word: Not a traditional delicious tempura restaurant, but more like a family restaurant dish. Others might not say this: A straightforward tip. Even though it was a quiet time, I wish they would stop discussing the quality of the ingredients they sourced in voices loud enough for customers to hear at the counter.

During the state of emergency, I went to a tempura restaurant on the 8th floor of Nihonbashi Takashimaya Main Store around noon. It was surprisingly empty, maintaining social distance. I had the tendon Take for 2,200 yen with extra rice. My boss treated me to this meal. It included small prawns, broccoli, and assorted tempura of fish and prawns. I ordered extra rice and ended up getting really full.

I visited for lunch. The place is located on the 8th floor of Nihonbashi Takashimaya Main Store. On the same floor, there are famous restaurants such as the Imperial Hotel special dining room and Unagi Noda Iwa, forming a famous restaurant street together. With its main store in Ginza, this famous tempura restaurant has branches in the Imperial Hotel, as well as various department stores in Ginza and Nihonbashi. I enjoyed a delicious tempura set for lunch. I would like to visit again.

Although the coronavirus has not completely subsided, Japan's Nihonbashi Takashimaya seems to be getting somewhat crowded as customers are starting to return. Being cautious of the virus, I decided to wander around the Takashimaya building in search of a less crowded restaurant to have lunch. I found Tenichi, which was not busy, and immediately went in! I ordered the Tempura Set Meal for 1,870 yen, which includes 5 pieces of tempura, a side dish, rice, miso soup, and pickles. While enjoying a delicious roasted green tea, I waited for my meal. The freshly fried tempura included 2 prawns, pumpkin, eggplant, and a mixed tempura of prawns and vegetables. The tempura had a wonderful aroma, was crispy, and surprisingly not greasy at all. Even the mixed tempura was packed with ingredients but still light and delicious. I wondered how they fried it so perfectly. The rice and miso soup were also tasty. The miso soup had clams in it, which was very satisfying. The side dish was a salad of jellyfish, myoga (Japanese ginger), and cucumber, which was also delicious. It was a delightful lunch, and I realized that well-made tempura doesn't leave you feeling heavy or greasy.

I ordered the Plum Gozen. There was no major issue except that the red miso soup was a bit lukewarm. The tempura was not as crispy towards the end, but that's understandable. It was delicious.

I visited Tenya for the first time in a while at Takashimaya and decided to try their small tendon and tempura set. The restaurant was not crowded, unlike other places in the mall. Honestly, I didn't have high expectations, and it turned out to be just as I expected. The overall experience at Takashimaya, including the staff's service, made me feel like there's less reason to visit this place. Staff at local fast-food chains like Yoshinoya or Matsuya are definitely more competent. Personally, I believe that staff who need to be told three times to bring a cola, orange juice, or ginger ale are not suited for this job.
