The atmosphere was nice, and the owner was friendly! I ordered the recommended pork hormone mix. There were 4 pieces in total, making it easy to share even with multiple people! Here are my thoughts on each meat. You can choose between all salt or half salt and half sauce for each. - Heart: Pretty average, nothing special. Not my favorite. - Kobukuro: White, long and chewy. It might taste even better with salt. It's okay. - Lung: Really soft and fluffy, be careful not to overcook. The inside is fluffy and tasty. - Tongue: Chewy, but that's about it. Not bad, but not my favorite. - Cheek: Seems to be lean meat, sometimes hard to chew, probably not cooked properly. Might be my favorite as a meat. - Trigger: Takes the longest to cook, wrapped in skin with oil, thick and fatty, the best. Probably my favorite as a hormone. - Skirt: Delicious, but it gets tough after the third piece. A chunk of fat, better with salt.

I made a reservation a week ago and visited for the first time, overcoming various obstacles. I ordered pork mix hormone, chilled simmered dish, liver, chire, and chicken mix hormone. I also had three bottles of bottled beer. Since it was my first time, I listened to the master's instructions while grilling. The work was clean and seriously delicious. The master's serious attitude towards pork offal creates a wonderful atmosphere in this restaurant. The toilet and the interior were also spotless. I will visit again when I come to Kyoto next time. Thank you for the meal.

The name of the restaurant suggests that it specializes in pork. The interior is not very spacious, with the chef running the place on his own. What surprised me was the variety of cuts available. We started with a platter of tongue and hormone. The hormone had little to no odor and went well with beer! We also ordered some kalbi, and the harami was delicious too! The pricing was clear and overall it was a good experience!

I heard from my friend in Nagoya that they often visit this place, so I was curious and finally got to go there. We ordered a variety of dishes, and everything was delicious and reasonably priced. The meat is so fresh that I almost wanted to eat it raw, but I resisted and grilled it instead. The makgeolli (Korean rice wine) is also delicious. I highly recommend this place.

There is a famous restaurant in Moto Tanaka called "Horumon Buta Kin" that I really wanted to visit. After work, I took a bus to the Moto Tanaka area from my workplace in Kyoto. Between the Hyakumanben intersection and Moto Tanaka station, there are many different shops due to the proximity to Kyoto University. However, if you go down a narrow dark alley, you will find "Horumon Buta Kin." The access may not be great, but this place has many fans around me. The master has a unique personality, but you can feel his passion for food and drinks. The interior of the restaurant is a simple yakiniku style with a counter and three sets of four-seat tables. The master seems a bit lazy at first glance, but once you start talking to him, you can see how knowledgeable he is about restaurants and how much he loves the food and beverage industry. The horumon (offal) here is worth coming all the way here for. The menu mainly consists of pork horumon, with some chicken horumon options as well. You can feel the dedication to making horumon delicious. Despite the poor access, I think it was worth coming all the way here. Chilled simmered offal (small) 300 yen: I started with simmered offal to warm up my stomach. This chilled simmered offal is quite unique and delicious even when cold. I wonder if it's even better cold? It's a mystery. Cabbage platter (2 servings) with Hakata cabbage sauce 300 yen: There are four flavors of cabbage platters, and I chose the Hakata cabbage sauce. It's a nice snack to have between bites of horumon. Pork horumon assortment 2000 yen: The pork horumon assortment includes 8 types for 2000 yen, which is a great deal. You can choose between sauce, salt, or half and half seasoning. I recommend half and half! Each type of horumon is fresh and flavorful. Chicken horumon assortment 1000 yen: The chicken horumon assortment includes three types - seseri (neck), heart, and liver. They are also fresh and tasty. Green onion with ponzu vinegar 300 yen: This is a must-try with horumon. The green onions, garlic chips, and ponzu vinegar complement the horumon perfectly. I couldn't resist getting seconds. It's definitely worth trying. Other menu items like curry rice caught my eye, but I had to skip it this time because I wanted to visit the next restaurant. [November 2019 Revisit] The last stop for the group that went out for autumn leaf viewing was here. We always rely on Butagane (^_^) I feel that pork offal in the Kanto region is of a high level, but this place is different. Even in Tokyo, there aren't many restaurants like this. This time, I made a reservation for a table and visited right at the opening time. I ordered casually on the day of the visit. I started with bottled beer (600 yen) and then switched to Hoppy (600 yen). Hoppy with offal is a standard in the Kanto region, although it's rare in Kansai. The master really knows his stuff ^m^ - Omakase platter, probably around 2000 yen When it comes to Butagane, this assorted platter is the pinnacle of their specialty. It's delicious no matter how many times you eat it (T_T). It's an assortment of liver, chire, heart, tongue, and kobukuro, and you won't find such shiny offal elsewhere. Some members were hesitant about pork offal, but they all cleared it without a problem. In the end, everyone was praising how delicious it was ^m^ Since the freshness is outstanding and the pre-processing is perfect, it's okay to cook it lightly. Only the tongue, with its intense fat, might be better cooked well. I've revisited many times, but this assortment is truly delicious. - Green onion ponzu, 300 yen A nice break between offal dishes. It's delicious even when eaten with offal (^_^) - Hatsumoto, 600 yen There's also heart in the omakase platter, but this is a part closer to the blood vessels. The chewy texture is irresistible (^_^) This restaurant excels in precisely showcasing subtle differences in texture and flavor. - Gatsu, 600 yen Ordinary guts may have a strong taste or smell, but not here. You can purely enjoy the umami. The moderate elasticity pushes back against your teeth with a firm texture. It might be better to cook this one thoroughly. - Harami, 600 yen This is clearly "meat." It's tender and juicy. It's pork harami, but it has a richness that can rival beef. The thick cut allows you to enjoy the meat by chewing it firmly. I like that feeling ^m^ - Offal shop's curry rice, 1000 yen - Ramen, 600 yen We shared both noodles and rice. The curry is made with regular curry powder, but it's rich with plenty of offal. On the other hand, the ramen is just as the master said, really ordinary. It's a dish to take a breather here. - Wakame soup, 100 yen *I didn't drink it, so I'm not sure about it [In conclusion] Some members had never been to this restaurant before, but everyone was extremely satisfied. This place never disappoints. It's delicious. There aren't many restaurants with such a high level of pork offal like this. When it comes to yakiniku style, this place might be the best in Japan. The bill for today was surprisingly 2750 yen per person, even though we shared. This price is quite a bargain. Wow, amazing (^_^;) Thank you for the meal.

Here is a hidden gem in Kyoto, Tonkin. Located in the trendy hotspot Motonakano, this yakiniku restaurant offers a wide variety of fresh pork and pork offal dishes. The shop is a 3-minute walk from Eizan Line Motonakano Station, with a red lantern shining in the middle of a residential area. The cozy interior has three 4-person table seats and a counter seat, all managed by the chef himself, giving off a nostalgic Showa era vibe. Leave your order to the regular customers, starting with the "Chef's Special Assortment" which features a dazzling display of pork offal, like a treasure chest of pork jewels. The lineup includes heart, diaphragm, liver, tongue, and more, all bursting with fresh and fruity flavors. Especially delicious are the diaphragm with its rich taste and the tongue with its amazing texture that pairs perfectly with garlic. Other dishes we tried were green onion ponzu, liver, thick and chewy intestines, heart, harami, wakame soup, the butcher's curry rice, and Chinese noodles for the finale. The highlight was definitely the Chef's Special Assortment, which even impressed those who are not fans of pork offal. With a total of 2750 yen per person after eating and drinking heartily, the cost performance is outstanding. It's no wonder why regular customers keep coming back for the amazing food. I can't wait to visit again during cherry blossom season.

After enjoying some anko (red bean paste) sweets, it's time for some autumn leaf viewing. While many places charge admission fees, the Shinnyo-do temple is free! And it's incredibly beautiful too! It really stirs the heart. After enjoying the autumn leaves, you can walk to Moto-Tanaka. The last stop for me is always this place if I want to eat pork offal - Pork Kin. I made a reservation for 6 pm, and once we entered, we ordered the following: Food: - Assorted offal plate - Green onion ponzu - Heart (both base and tip) - Intestine - Harami (skirt) - Offal shop's curry rice - Chinese noodles Drinks: - Bottle of beer - Hoppy (a beer-like drink) The assorted offal plate was as dazzling as ever. Liver, tongue, heart, cheek, and diaphragm - a five-variety plate. You can choose how well-cooked you want them. The diaphragm has a crunchy texture, while the cheek is tender and flavorful. The heart is chewy. The liver is creamy and delicious. There's no better pork offal than this. The green onion ponzu is great as a condiment or as a side dish with alcohol. The heart (base and tip) has a chewy texture in the base part and tender in the tip. The intestine is crunchy without any unpleasant smell. The skirt meat is meaty with overflowing fat. The offal shop's curry rice is cooked with onions and contains offal here and there. It's really delicious. The Chinese noodles are a light soy sauce-based chicken broth. It's also delicious. Pork Kin's assorted offal plate is truly amazing! It's definitely worth coming all the way here just to eat this! Thank you for the meal! After this, I started feeling unwell and had to leave. Let's have a drink! Is there a good restaurant in Kyoto? I was invited by a business partner, and the first place that came to mind was Butagane. This restaurant was my favorite 5 years ago (listed in the best restaurants), but I haven't been there since raw pork was banned. I visited last year and experienced its high quality, so I decided to revisit. Located a 5-minute walk from Mototanaka Station (or a 15-minute walk from Demachiyanagi), this deep atmosphere is irresistible. Despite the deep atmosphere, the exhaust duct and the cleanliness inside the store are very impressive, and you can feel the owner's dedication. I started with a bottle of Kinmiya and Hoppy from the refrigerator. - Chef's assorted plate (tongue, heart, diaphragm, tripe, liver) 2000 yen x 2 - Green onion ponzu 300 yen x 4 - Kimchi 300 yen x 2 - Cold stew 500 yen - Stew 500 yen - Mix hormone half & half (salt and sauce) 2000 yen - Pork guts 500 yen - Pork knuckles (trachea, donuts) 500 yen - Hormone shop's curry rice 1000 yen - Korean cold noodles 900 yen The chef's assorted plate is a must-eat. The powerful visual of the fresh pork hormone is impressive. It is lightly seasoned with sesame oil and salt, and garlic is added separately, and it is enjoyable to lightly grill it on the grill. The tongue, which pops like a drum, the liver that doesn't smell at all, the heart with a powerful elasticity, the diaphragm with a fatty and sticky texture, and the tripe that feels strong and chewy. They are all excellent choices. Another must-eat is the green onion ponzu. Pork offal with a sense of commitment ^_^ On a rainy Saturday night, I suddenly received an invitation from a friend and made a reservation at 6:00 pm. Inside the red restaurant, the menu and various commitments were plastered all over the walls, making it hard to know where to look. Finally, I was excited and nervous to visit the restaurant that food bloggers had been praising. I wanted to order the 2000 yen hormone mix that I had seen in reviews, as well as the manager's recommendation, but wait, the set menu recommended by the manager was not available? I ended up ordering the hormone mix, chicken offal, simmered tendon, Hakata-style cabbage with sauce, and a bottle of beer! The thickly sliced and delicious-looking hormone got me really excited! I wanted to quickly sear and eat the meat that made me want to eat rice. However, my friend is cautious about eating raw meat, so they cooked the meat thoroughly over high heat. Well, since I have a sensitive stomach, that should be better! When the hormone, cooked over high heat and mixed with sauce, made me crave rice, I ended up ordering two extra servings of rice! The only downside was that the rice was sticky rice. As someone who is picky about rice at yakiniku restaurants, I was slightly disappointed, haha. The sticky rice was delicious, but knowing that it wasn't regular rice affected my perception... The simmered offal was also well seasoned and tasty! [July 2019 Revisit] When it comes to pork offal in Kansai, this is the place to go. I have been coming here regularly in search of the finest offal (^_^) This time, we originally planned to visit with 4 people, but one person suddenly fell ill and had to retire. So, we ended up visiting with 3 people. Despite the name being "Buta Kin" (Pork Gold), the master recommended, "Our chicken is the best." Trusting his words, we ordered a platter of chicken sashimi. And of course, we couldn't miss the offal mix, but I didn't realize until now that there were 2 types (^_^;) Initially, we ordered the regular daily mix, but later added the master's special mix. We only ordered heart for the grilled dish. One of the participants is not a big fan of offal or chicken, but we ordered cold noodles and kimchi for that person. We also had Hoppy, which is not commonly found in Kansai, so it was a pleasant surprise. And it was Shari Kin~^m^ ・Kimchi 300 yen Just a delicious cabbage kimchi, not too spicy. ・Daily 8-piece offal mix 2000 yen ・Master's special offal mix 2000 yen The offal mix comes in two types, "daily" and "master's special." This time, we ended up comparing both. It was my first time trying the daily mix. We got slices of liver, tongue, and heart, each in sets of 3 pieces per person (^_^) Just when I thought it was delicious, the master's special mix took it to a whole new level. The glossy appearance was on a completely different level. They use different parts even for the same tongue. If you want to enjoy the pure offal flavors, I highly recommend the master's special mix over the daily mix. ・Chicken sashimi platter The chicken was from Tajima, I believe? A platter of gizzard, heart, liver, and breast meat (maybe chicken tenderloin) (^_^) This time, I made sure to reserve the items by phone, but it seems like they are becoming more regular menu items lately. This sashimi platter is incredibly fresh with no cloudiness in flavor. In addition to the unique chicken flavors, the liver and gizzard also have a hint of sweetness. Even for those who don't like raw food, this platter might be enjoyable due to its lack of strong flavors and abundance of umami. ・Heart and aorta *Price unknown My favorite grilled dish here. It's cut around the great artery and its base, creating an interesting contrast in texture (^_^) The quality is outstanding, and being able to do this kind of taste comparison is the charm of this restaurant. Of course, the aorta side is excellent as well. ・Cold noodles 900 yen The noodles are smooth with a firm and bouncy texture. The soup seems to be derived from beef bones, but I don't remember them handling beef (^_^;) Taste-wise, it's a relatively traditional cold noodle dish. Perfect for finishing off the meal. ---------------------------------------- [In conclusion] Indulging in premium pork offal with Hoppy is pure bliss. There aren't many restaurants in Tokyo at this level (^_^) I've been coming here many times, and I will definitely continue to do so in the future. Once again, I was completely satisfied with today's meal. The bill today averaged about 5000 yen per person. Thank you for the delicious meal.

This is a valuable restaurant where you can eat pork hormones, but I'm not a fan of hormones. However, this place is highly praised by meat lovers like me, who would probably eat anything meat, maybe even crocodile. It's located about a 5-minute walk from Eiden Motonaka Station, in a location where residents are unlikely to come. I took a city bus from Kawaramachi, with no transfer needed. It's rare nationwide to find a place where you can eat pork hormones, and apparently they are incredibly delicious. I tried some things that I could eat, but I still don't quite understand the appeal of hormones. Despite having eaten two bowls of ramen, I decided to try the Korean cold noodles here, which I love. The owner here is casually friendly and the atmosphere is cozy. There are also counter seats, making it easy for solo diners to feel comfortable. In addition to pork hormones, they also serve delicious chicken. It's worth a visit for hormone lovers.

After enjoying delicious takoyaki at Mihashiya, the main event of the day was finding a great horumon-yaki (offal grilled) restaurant in Kyoto. So, we decided to visit Butagane. The restaurant is located about a 5-minute walk from Motonakano Station, in a quiet residential area. It seems like the restaurant requires reservations, as walk-in customers were being turned away due to being fully booked. We left the ordering to the pros at Butagane, as we had been there a few times before. Here's what we ate: - Assorted Pork Horumon Plate (Salt) for 2 people - Assorted Pork Meat Plate (Salt) for 2 people - Green Onion with Ponzu Sauce - Gatsu Shin Yubiki - Pork Feet - Assorted Chicken Horumon Plate - Teppo (Pork Rectum) - Horumon Curry We also drank: - 2 bottles of Kinmiya - A lot of Hoppy Black The pork horumon plate was the first to arrive, and the freshness of the offal was evident from the shiny appearance. The five types of offal - liver, tongue, heart, small intestine, and diaphragm - were all incredibly delicious and free of any off-putting smells. The pork meat plate also consisted of various cuts like head, skirt, and ribs, all of which were surprisingly tasty. Mixing the meat with green onions and ponzu sauce added a nice touch. We also tried the chilled offal, pork feet, and assorted chicken offal, all of which were delicious in their own right. Overall, this was the best horumon-yaki experience we've ever had. The total cost for one person was around 5000 yen due to excessive drinking, but a normal meal could cost around 3000 yen. Butagane has definitely become our number one choice for a horumon fix. In Kansai, the pork hormone is outstanding. They don't offer raw hormone, just grilled meat. I usually go for the chef's choice. I may have had the spleen in the past, but I'm not sure. I will definitely visit when I come to Kyoto.

My concept is "I'm happy as long as I can have a good time and enjoy delicious food. I have no interest in anything other than food." This place is perfect for that concept. If you want comfort, you should visit about 10 times. If you still don't understand the owner's stance, then you should stop. I went there today and it was very cozy! However, my "unrivaled time" ended when other customers came in. My recommendation is "teppou, harami, teppou, tan, kashira, teppou". It goes perfectly with black hoppy! Please let me know if you know of any pork yakiniku that is better than this place. Thank you!
