Yoshiya in Ginza, a town of skilled woodworkers. While passing by for work, I thought, "I want to try their amazing dorayaki... I hope they're not sold out." Luckily, there were a few boxes left with 5 and 8 pieces, so I bought the 5-piece pack. The refined, lightly sweet red bean paste combined with the moist and fine-grained skin is so refreshing that you can enjoy it even on a hot day. I couldn't stop opening the small bags. I want to keep kissing this skin forever! This small shop in the back alley might be easy to miss if you don't know about it, but it's a renowned shop that has been in business for 101 years in the heart of Japan, Ginza! It was for myself on that day, but they last for about 3 days and come with seasonal designs stamped on them, making them a perfect gift. Many people were carrying too many paper bags to hold, so bulk purchases require reservations, and even for individual purchases, it's recommended to visit in the morning.

A long-established dorayaki shop in Ginza. With a history of about a hundred years, this shop has been watching over the streets of Ginza. The walls are adorned with the brands of famous people. You can feel the history. It's a popular shop that requires reservations, so be sure to make a reservation before visiting. The dorayaki is folded in half. The chewy dough and the gentle sweetness of the red bean paste create a heartwarming taste. Sweet and comforting.

A long-established Japanese confectionery shop established in 1922 located in a narrow alley between Ginza 3-chome Kibiki-cho Street and Kibiki-cho Nakadori Street. It is loved by many fans as it is located behind the Kabuki-za theater and is often used as a gift. Although the small dorayaki costs 150 yen each, it may seem slightly expensive for its size, but its moist skin and moderately sweet red bean paste filling are exquisite and delicious enough to eat as many as you want. They are neatly wrapped, making them convenient for gifts. I purchased them today as a souvenir for my visit to my hometown. The popular dorayaki is limited in quantity that can be made in a day, so it is recommended to make a reservation.

Dorayaki, 5 pieces for ¥810. I visited around 2 pm on a weekday and there were 4 packs of 5 pieces each. In March, they had a cute cherry blossom design stamped on them. The dorayaki was not fluffy but rather chewy. It felt more like a soft rice cake than a dorayaki. The balance between the red bean paste and the dough was perfect. At ¥150 each, they felt a bit pricey for their small size. I would be happier if they were twice as big for ¥200.

East Ginza is a traditional Japanese confectionery shop located behind the Kabuki-za theater. They sell a pack of 5 dorayaki for 756 yen. The dorayaki is a small round cake with sweet red bean paste sandwiched between two pieces of pancake-like dough. Although the shop has a long history since its establishment in 1922, the taste of their dorayaki is quite ordinary and lacks innovation. I must admit that my taste buds are not refined enough to distinguish it from a convenience store dorayaki.

While strolling around after lunch, I stumbled upon a charming traditional Japanese sweets shop in a back alley. I heard they sell out quickly, so I decided to take a peek inside. The kind proprietress confirmed they had dorayaki, so I decided to try one. The shop was filled with branding irons used to mark the sweets, which was quite interesting. The dorayaki was small, with a moist and soft outer layer and a mildly sweet red bean filling. I thought it might pair well with black sugar shochu. It was delicious!

Honestly, you almost can't buy it without a reservation. On this day, there happened to be 2 boxes (5 pieces each) left at 12:30 for the ones ready at 13:00, and I was lucky enough to purchase them. You can have your own personalized stamp on the dorayaki here. I've always wanted to make one someday. The skin is chewy and the sweetness is just right. This is my favorite dorayaki.

A sweet shop in the vicinity of Kinohiki Town. The store is simple in design. When I ordered a matcha set, there were no sweets. I enjoyed my tea time with matcha. They also serve dishes like rice bowls and egg udon. The landlady is very kind.

I visited around 11:30 on Saturday. I saw on the website that it was closed, but as I was walking nearby, I found that this Japanese confectionery shop was open, unlike the dessert shop. They only had two sets of 5 dorayaki. It seemed like they sold out early in the morning. The 5-piece set costs 756 yen, which is about 150 yen per piece. The dorayaki is smaller than usual, about half the size I'm familiar with, and it's rolled up. The skin is thin but chewy, and it's filled with plenty of red bean paste. I thought the appearance and ease of eating were good, but it felt a bit expensive. I didn't plan to buy it for home, but it could be nice to share with colleagues during work. Thank you for the meal.

I visited before 10 am and was told that if I didn't have a reservation, I could buy it around 11 am. I gave them my phone number and decided to revisit later. Since they only serve lunch from 11 am, I visited after that. The dorayaki had a different shape than the usual round one, it was folded in half. It was delicious.

In a back alley behind the Kabuki-za theater, there is a long-established Japanese confectionery shop called "Kobikicho Yoshiya," founded in 1922 with a history of about 100 years. Their dorayaki features a moist skin and uses the finest red beans from Tokachi, Hokkaido, with a subtly sweet bean paste filling. It's a taste that has been cherished since pre-war and post-war times. Popular among companies in the Ginza area and for events like weddings, this dorayaki with a special logo or seal on the wall of the shop will surely become a special memory. Today's seal at the shop seems to be in the shape of a seasonal boat mark. Make sure to make a reservation as they sell out quickly. I am captivated by the moist dorayaki here. You can buy them in sets of three. They are half-moon shaped with seasonal designs. They also take custom orders! The staff are all smiling and relaxed, giving off a sense of tradition. The cozy and happy atmosphere often attracts stray cats to the front of the shop, as seen on Twitter. The red bean paste is incredibly delicious ♡

In the back alleys of Kinohiki Town, there is a long-established dorayaki shop that sells half-moon shaped bite-sized dorayaki. The patterns on them vary depending on the season. In spring, they have dorayaki with cherry blossom patterns and sakura mochi, which I couldn't resist buying. They are delicious and dangerous as they are bite-sized, so you can easily eat them all in one go. Dorayaki is sold in packs of five or more.

I visited this shop located about a 5-minute walk from Higashi-Ginza Station. It's tucked away in a back alley, so it's not easy to find just by passing by. I went there around 1 pm on a weekday. They had sakura mochi and half-moon dorayaki available that day, but the sakura mochi was already sold out when I arrived. There were only 2 sets of half-moon dorayaki left, so it's advisable to make a reservation in advance. I bought one set of half-moon dorayaki. It cost around 750 yen for 5 pieces, and the expiration date was the same day of purchase. The packaging was quite simple, so it might not be ideal for giving as a gift. As for the taste, the dorayaki was chewy, not too sweet, and easy to eat. The skin was very moist, more like imagawayaki than dorayaki. The filling was mildly sweet, and it seemed like the overall taste was the focus rather than one specific element. It wasn't bad, but considering the price, short expiration date, and the difficulty in obtaining it, I felt it was slightly overrated.

This is a traditional Japanese confectionery shop located in Kibiki Town. It was established in 1922, so next year will mark its 100th anniversary, how wonderful! Their most famous item is the half-moon shaped dorayaki. During peak times, they can produce up to 1,300 pieces in a day. Each dorayaki costs 140 yen and has a soft and moist outer layer with a refined sweetness in the red bean paste filling. The overall impression is one of sophisticated sweetness. They also offer custom branding for an additional fee. How about bringing some back as a souvenir from Ginza? Thank you for the delicious meal.

When I think of dorayaki, I imagine a round cake that Doraemon would eat, but this dorayaki was folded on one side and filled with red bean paste, making it small enough to eat in one bite. It was elegantly sweet and delicious.

Located in the back of the Kabuki-za theater, on a small alley in Kibokicho, is the traditional Japanese confectionery shop "Kibokicho Yoshiya", established in 1922. With a history of almost 100 years, this shop is known for its popular dorayaki, often used as gifts. Recently, there have been reports of malicious cases where these popular dorayaki are being sold on platforms like Amazon. Please be aware that this shop does not sell its products through online platforms like Amazon. In front of the shop, there was a cat believed to bring good luck. The cat was friendly and allowed me to take a photo. As I entered the shop, a woman who seemed to be the head of the shop manually opened the door for me. She greeted me and closed the door behind me as I entered. A young man, possibly the shop owner, offered to prepare my order for home use. I ordered one dorayaki without any reservation. I was able to purchase the famous "Kuya" monaka without a reservation as well. The half-moon dorayaki, priced at 756 yen for a pack of 5, was a perfect size for a tea snack. The aroma of honey, the chewy texture of the dough, and the strong flavor of the red bean paste made it a delightful treat. It was easy to eat two or three at a time. The dorayaki, with a century-old history, paired well with cold barley tea, but I imagine it would be even more enjoyable with a hot cup of tea.

I visited the shop without a reservation before lunchtime. I asked, "Can I buy even though I didn't make a reservation?" and was relieved when they said it was okay. I bought a pack of 5 for 756 yen (including tax). The shop had many different designs of dorayaki on display. The dorayaki were small and shaped like a half moon, with iris flower designs for May. The skin of the dorayaki was fine and similar to the skin of a traditional Japanese sweet called ayu. The red bean paste filling was soft, melted in the mouth, and had a pleasant sweetness without leaving a cloying aftertaste. Both the red bean paste and the skin had a refined sweetness, and they were so delicious that I felt like I could easily eat all 5 at once.

In the area around Higashi-Ginza, there are many charming alleyways. This shop is located down a side street near Magazine House. I spotted the words "dorayaki" and decided to check it out. The dorayaki here is known for its unique branding and folded shape. Although reservations are not required, I was able to purchase some on a weekday morning after finishing my health check earlier than expected. The dorayaki is of high quality, with a moist and flavorful filling that blends perfectly with the soft outer layer. The branding is a cherry blossom, adding a touch of early summer to the experience. It was a delightful visit to Higashi-Ginza after a long time. I'm glad I was able to buy some. Thank you for the delicious treat.
