It was a very enjoyable izakaya. The interior was filled with Showa era music and decorations, creating a nostalgic atmosphere. I think it would be appreciated by those of a certain age group. Regardless of the quality of the food, I felt that the prices were very reasonable, making it a good restaurant.

I went to this restaurant for a drinking party, and it cost 3,500 yen for two people. I saw a sign saying yakitori was 50 yen, so I decided to try it. However, the cabbage appetizer was 390 yen for all-you-can-eat, which was too expensive. The yakitori was advertised as 50 yen per skewer, but each skewer only had two small pieces of yakitori. The mixed okonomiyaki was 200 yen, but it only had vegetables and lacked flavor. Overall, I'm not sure if I would want to go back to this restaurant.

I used to go to this restaurant a lot when I lived in Takadanobaba during my university days. It has a good cost performance and atmosphere.

In December 2016, it was my first visit to this place! When I was a student, I remember going to Hanbee in Ikebukuro a few times! Tonight, the main purpose was to eat ramen at "Yamaguchi" nearby, so I decided to stop by this place for a cheap drink on the way back! Despite it being the year-end party season, there were not many customers... maybe because they don't have party menus. But that worked out well for me! The name of the restaurant truly reflects their low prices! It's nice once in a while! We ordered from a few different genres, but I think you should definitely try the fried food! They serve it hot and fresh, perfect for snacking with drinks! And it's super cheap! No complaints at this price! As for the other menu items, well, they are okay for the price. Everyone should definitely give it a try!

On May 20, 2015, after finishing the first round of drinks with a coupon at Kanmuri, we needed to go to another place to strengthen the young man, KT. KT chose the next place we went to, which was located underground. It was around 8 pm, and luckily we were able to enter without waiting. The walls were decorated with retro movie posters. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was lively and filled with purple smoke. The concept of the place seemed to be "nostalgia," with nostalgic Bon Curry packaging in front of the counter. The menu was extensive, with small text and surprisingly affordable prices. We had a unique toast, and then we discussed our plans for strengthening KT in detail. The first round of appetizers included potato butter, tuna, seared salmon, and cold tofu, all priced around 200 yen each. Despite my initial concerns, the taste was not bad at all, which explained why the place was filled with students and young people. For the second round, KT ordered a drink called "Magician Sally," which was a blue drink based on Blue Hawaii with a swirling candy to mix in. It was something I, a seasoned drinker, would never have thought to order. We also ordered pickles and fried chicken, both of which were quite good. The menu was enjoyable to look at, with items like chicken ramen available. The bill came out to around 3500 yen, which KT graciously paid for. The taste was decent for the price, and I would definitely like to visit again for the unique experience. By the time we left, there were already a few people waiting in line.

At a cheap restaurant in Takadanobaba called "Hanbee Takadanobaba," yakitori starts at 50 yen, and most dishes are in the 100-200 yen range. The atmosphere inside is retro, with lots of old movie posters and even snacks for sale. Draft beer is 290 yen, highball is 190 yen, but the glasses are on the smaller side. Although the prices are low, the portions seem a bit smaller. The cabbage served as a starter is all-you-can-eat. I tried various items, and one that stood out was the "azuki gyoza" - delicious with a perfect balance of sweetness and crunch. Next was the "soft noodles," reminiscent of school lunches. Then, the "cream soda chuhai" was great for a cream soda lover like me. They also had "otafuku sauce yakisoba" and, lastly, an "oppai ice cream" for 80 yen - nostalgic and tasty. I enjoyed a leisurely time savoring the flavors of the Showa era.

Today's review is about Hanbei, a unique izakaya in Takadanobaba. The standout feature here is the nostalgic Showa era atmosphere. The interior is adorned with retro colors and walls covered with old-fashioned candy posters. The menu also features nostalgic items like electric blankets. It feels like rummaging through a grandfather's toy box hidden in the back of a closet! Very cute! The recommended dish here is the Showa croquette (73 yen), but for something interesting, try the frog! Yes, frog. As shown in the photo, a fresh frog leg is served. Surprisingly, it tastes like mild white fish. Easy to eat! One friend even said, "Oh, the frog has such beautiful legs, I feel self-conscious looking at them." (laughs) It's a fun and affordable izakaya where you can have a great time with friends. Highly recommended. Just be prepared to wait in line as it's always crowded.

I happened to pass by the front of the store and decided to go in. It was early, so I was able to be seated right away. The interior of the store is wrapped in a Showa era atmosphere, which feels nice. The menu is extensive, making it hard to decide what to order. There was also a wide variety of drink options. Despite the Showa era Japanese atmosphere, it was amusing to see a foreign staff member who spoke broken Japanese. There were many dishes that you don't often see nowadays, like fried bread crusts, simple wheat flour dishes, and noodles. It was a shame that there was a time limit of 2 hours.

Visited the restaurant on March 14, 2012 at 6pm. Met up with a close friend from Nagoya after a long time. It was our first time here as it's located in a student area. The place was not crowded at first, but quickly filled up. The drinks are cheap here. We ordered a variety of dishes and the total came to around 2000 yen per person. The food options included skewers, fried foods, and small dishes. There were also cute dishes that reminded us of school lunches. We tried frog for the first time, it tasted like chicken but had a strange texture. We had a great time and will definitely come back! ☆

I was drawn in by the cheap signboard displayed outside the restaurant. The interior of the restaurant gave off a Showa era vibe, with retro TV sets playing Showa era footage. The atmosphere was quite nice! The place was bustling with customers, mostly in their early twenties, probably due to the cheap prices. The cabbage appetizer was refillable, which was perfect for when you're feeling a bit peckish! I decided to order the bacon and eggs, and it was exactly that, just bacon and eggs! It had a simple taste, which was also quite nice. The main dish was skewers, priced at 60 yen each, making it perfect for enjoying cheap drinks with some skewers on the side!

"I was looking for something more than just 'Jyunren' and then I remembered this place. Everything here is so cheap. Plus, the retro Showa vibe is really nice. The staff are also very attentive! I recommend the 'Azuki Gyoza' (210 yen). It has red bean paste and cheese inside, and it's fried. It's delicious. Also, the 'Mix Ball' (210 yen) is huge. It's about 30 centimeters in diameter. For dessert, the 'Hanbe Earamodo' (380 yen) and 'Fried Bread (Kinako)' (180 yen) are great choices. The 'Hanbe Earamodo' comes with ice cream, whipped cream, canned mandarin oranges, red bean paste, ramune, popping candy, and chocolate sauce as toppings. The fried bread is also incredibly tasty. As for drinks, there are some unusual options like 'Dark High,' which I might not recommend (laughs). Eating and drinking here cost me only 2000 yen for a full stomach. It's surprising. I definitely want to come back to this place."

I was taken to a restaurant by friends for a drinking party. They said, "It's a cheap and nice atmosphere!" We made a reservation for 6 people and when we arrived, we were seated at a table for 4. Some of us were big in size and we couldn't fit comfortably, so one person had to sit on a makeshift seat. The staff didn't come to us even when we called them. Our orders took forever to arrive, even our drinks. I don't really remember the taste of the food. Since many members of the drinking party preferred places with good service, we decided to change the restaurant right away. Maybe this was just a one-time thing, but I'd like to give it another try with a smaller group.

I went with two friends to this restaurant. We ordered a 2-hour all-you-can-drink (last order after 1.5 hours) option and ordered food as we went along. The atmosphere of the restaurant is not bad, but it's not exactly a retro izakaya either. One thing that bothered us was the slow service after ordering. It's a common issue in budget izakayas, but with a decent number of customers, it's something they should improve on (at least with drinks). We tried frog, yakitori (three skewers of chicken thigh), okonomiyaki, motsu-ni (stewed offal), sausage skewers, and cultural fries. I recommend the okonomiyaki, it's a great deal for 200 yen with good flavor. On the other hand, I don't recommend the yakitori and frog. The yakitori was small and not very tasty, and you can find better frog dishes elsewhere. The drinks are decent for the price, with some unique options like Electric Brandy, Gin and Tonic, and Magician Sally. The Electric Brandy was surprisingly easy to drink but the portion was small. The original cocktails were disappointing, with Magician Sally being colorful but lacking in flavor. The candy stirrer was delicious though. A male waiter asked us how the frog tasted, mentioning it was imported from Indonesia. It was a nice touch and we appreciated the interaction.

A restaurant that once emphasized the atmosphere of the Showa era. From the posters on the walls to the contents of the menu and prices, everything exuded a nostalgic Showa vibe. As a result, adults looking for a relaxed atmosphere of the Showa era and students seeking cheap prices would mix in the restaurant, sometimes causing long lines outside. However, if you time your visit right, you can easily get in. The menu is packed on an A3 or B4-sized paper. Most items are cheap, but there are some that are closer to regular prices. It's impressive to see students looking for the best value items without being swayed by the menu and ordering continuously.

Hanbei, near Takadanobaba Station, is a hidden gem in the area. It's my favorite drinking spot around here! The atmosphere of the place is completely Showa era. Even for someone like me who didn't experience the Showa era, it brings a sense of nostalgia. The food is simple but delicious, and I always make sure to order the potatoes every time. The combination of the atmosphere and the food is just perfect. The prices are reasonable too, and even after eating and drinking a lot, I've never gone over 3000 yen per person. It's a great place for students.

My friends really like this restaurant, so we come here often. The concept of the restaurant is "Showa retro", with everything from the interior, menu, background music, and posters all giving off a strong Showa era vibe. Even the staff speaking broken Japanese adds to the nostalgic atmosphere. However, I'm not a big fan of this place. The drinks and food are cheap, but the portions are small and the taste isn't anything special. The only dishes I think are worth ordering at this restaurant are: - Ham cutlet (crispy and goes really well with the sauce!) - Corned beef (mixed with mayonnaise, wrapped in the cabbage appetizer) - Stir-fried onions with soy sauce? (simple, brings out the sweetness of the onions) I'll just stick to beer for drinks. They might have electric blankets too. And for some reason, this place always seems to be crowded.
