Weekend routine walking. I aimed for Toyokawa Yokujo near the Waseda Station of the Toden. It's a very splendid public bathhouse, very nice~ Now, after the bath, it's time for beer, right? Found a first izakaya right in front of the public bath. Hmm... let's search a bit more. After leaving the public bath, heading left, found a second izakaya. Looks good, but no customers inside... Next to it, a third izakaya. Hesitating, decided to enter the third one, Chino, which seemed the least crowded. By the way, these three places have 0 reviews on Tabelog. The nearest station is the Toden Waseda Station, but it's also close to Omokagebashi Station. Directions from the station: When you get off at Toden Waseda Station, head down Shin Mejiro Street in the direction of Edogawabashi, turn left at the first traffic light (Ichinose), cross the Kanda River, turn left at the first corner, turn right at the first crossroads (Hanabusa), turn left at the corner (Drugstore Iwai), and it will be on your left after about 120m. It's a 1-minute walk from Toyokawa Yokujo. This area is on the border of the ward, with Toyokawa Yokujo in Bunkyo Ward, this restaurant in Toshima Ward, and Shinjuku Ward across the Kanda River. The slightly shady appearance with hanging lanterns (laughs) Descended the stairs cautiously. I thought it might be a snack-like place, but it turned out to be a normal izakaya. There is a deformed counter with 7 seats in front, and a raised seating area on the left (4 tables for 4 people each). There is no drink menu, but they have beer, shochu, and sake. There was a sign that said "yakitori" at the storefront, but there was no yakitori on the menu (;´Д`) There aren't many menu items like sashimi, grilled dishes, and fried foods, but surprisingly, there is a wide variety of dressings (laughs) and salad is not on the menu (;´Д`) There is a refrigerated case in front of the counter with sashimi items inside. There was a banquet going on this day, so maybe there were more items than usual. Regular customers who came in later asked, "Do you have grilled salmon today?" → Yes, "What vegetables do you have?" → Spinach ohitashi "Do you have fried oysters?" → Yes "Do you have simmered dishes?" → Yes Since none of these were on the menu, it might be good to ask the landlady. ● Chicken Karaage - 500 yen Five large pieces of karaage! Crispy and juicy, hot and delicious. The not too strong flavor is kind to middle-aged and older customers. ● Tataki of horse mackerel - 500 yen This one also has a good volume! It was firm and fresh♪ ● Gyoza - 500 yen I thought it must be homemade, and it was the right choice♪ The large size comes with 5 pieces. It has a garlicky flavor, with plenty of meat, but it's lightly seasoned so it's unexpectedly light. ● Otoshi A slightly sweet simmered thick tofu. The other customers had kimpira, so maybe it varies depending on the person? ● Beer ● Chuhai ● Oolong High Probably the shochu is Shinro. The shochu was poured into a jug-sized glass up to 6 parts. It was super strong as expected!!! It was so strong that you couldn't feel the carbonation (laughs) I thought there was no registration on Tabelog, so I got a receipt. (Turned out there was a registration, but it was not reviewed) Payment of 3950 yen for two people. I calculated the price of alcohol and otoshi. Beer is 550 yen, Chuhai and Oolong High are 350 yen, and otoshi is 250 yen, maybe??? Took a photo of the mailbox with the address written on it at the end, and it said Chino Building. Maybe it's their own building?! The locals, mostly elderly gentlemen, were having a great time on this day. The customers at the counter were also elderly. It's enviable that even as an old man, you can have fun drinking with friends. I thought it was a shop loved by the locals. Perfect for stopping by after visiting Toyokawa Yokujo♪
