In Kabukicho, this restaurant has been operating for 38 years since 1980, and it has been open 24 hours a day. It underwent a renovation on August 9, 2017, so the place looks very clean and shiny even after 2 years. Despite the crowded Godzilla Street in Kabukicho, this restaurant is easy to find on the left side as soon as you enter the street. It's popular among foreign customers and tends to get very crowded, so there is a two-hour time limit. You cook your own food here. This time, we left it to the two people who were part of the "Teppan Kai" (iron plate group). They were debating whether to mix the pork into the okonomiyaki or cook it on top. The staff mentioned that either way is fine, but the restaurant usually mixes the pork in. If you're not good at cooking, they will do it for you. The set menu includes all-you-can-drink for 2 hours for 3700 yen, with a total of 6 dishes: 1. Small dish, 2. Edamame, 3. Salad, 4. Okonomiyaki, Monjayaki, or pork yakisoba (choose one), 5. Iron plate dish (choose one from beef chunk meat or hormone), 6. Almond jelly. The beef chunk meat on the iron plate comes with two sauces - ponzu and original BBQ, and it's delicious. We were quite full by the end of the meal. The yuzu honey sour drink was delicious and we got hooked on it.

I visited for the first time because they are open late at night. The interior was cleaner than I had imagined! The green pepper and shiso-wrapped meat dish was incredibly delicious. The okonomiyaki was slightly sweet, not sure if it was the batter or the sauce. As a Kansai person, being able to eat modern okonomiyaki was the best.

This time, I went on a Friday night, which seemed to be the busiest time. I arrived around 8:00 PM, and it was full with a "10-minute wait"! I was seated right away, and the table was closest to the entrance! It wasn't very cool in this area, and as soon as the teppanyaki grill heated up, I started sweating... I'm not sure if the other tables were cooler, but this was my fourth time here and the first time I felt this way, so I was surprised! This time, I ordered: ◆Mentaiko Monja (spicy cod roe pancake) ¥1,067 with mochi topping ¥209 ◆Pork rolls ¥869 ◆One-bite gyoza (dumplings) ¥539 ◆Spicy cucumber salad ¥440 ◆And drinks! The one-bite gyoza arrived first! It was thinner and had more skin than I expected! It had a strong crispy texture! The monja-yaki here is a DIY style where you cook it yourself! If you can't handle it, the staff will cook it for you! The monja-yaki here is a bit on the salty side! The size of the ingredients was just right, and it was delicious! They adjusted the heat of the grill frequently, so I was able to enjoy it until the end! The pork rolls were a specialty with pork in rolled omelette! It had a good amount and was very satisfying. The atmosphere inside was lively, and it was hard to hear the voice of the person I was talking to without speaking a little louder! Maybe it was because it was full... I like the monja-yaki here, so I think I'll come back when it gets a little cooler.

I visited the restaurant during lunchtime on a regular day. The inside of the restaurant was quite cold due to the strong air conditioning, but once I started eating, I didn't mind it anymore. I decided to try their signature dish, the "Modern Yaki". It took about 15 minutes for it to be served after being cooked in the kitchen. The first bite was tasty, but I felt like it needed more sauce. I like a lot of sauce, so I added some from the condiments on the table, but it tasted strange, almost sour. I wasn't sure if they regularly replace the sauce, but it seemed like it was oxidized. It made me a bit nervous, so I decided to eat it as it was, even though it was a bit bland. I then ordered the "Gyusuji Monja", but it lacked a distinct flavor and punch. I initially thought of ordering okonomiyaki again, but I changed it to teppanyaki instead. I ordered the "Squid Tentacles with Ponzu Butter" and the "Horumon Yaki". The squid tentacles had lost their flavor due to being cooked too much with the ponzu sauce, and the horumon yaki was only strong in miso flavor without much depth. Overall, it was disappointing. It might be able to deceive tourists, but those who are used to this type of cuisine would be puzzled. Thank you for the meal.

On a regular night, it was past 8 pm but the restaurant was quite crowded. We didn't have to wait, but it was almost full the whole time. They offered a variety of okonomiyaki and monjayaki, and if you wanted, they would cook it on the hot plate at each table. It seemed like they were happy to accommodate requests, especially for customers from overseas. The food was delicious! I was happy to see Baby Star as a topping for the monjayaki!

Don Quijote in Kabuki-cho underground! I first came here 20 years ago, and although they renovated and no longer serve seafood and takoyaki, the food is consistently delicious. The restaurant is spacious! They will cook for you if you can't do it yourself. The modanyaki and yakisoba are cooked and served. The mentaiko mochi cheese monja has a strong mentaiko flavor, and the asparagus is impressive. The motsu stew is delicious! Oh, I drink quite a bit of alcohol, so the bill was this amount! They have side dishes even late at night, and I am grateful for their 24-hour service. I give it a high rating because I am a regular customer.

I came to this late-night oasis in Shinjuku once again. Our beloved Osaka-ya. After drinking late at night, I always seem to crave monjayaki or okonomiyaki. Well, I end up drinking again once I'm here. Sometimes we end up eating tempura soba at Kameya nearby. However, I really love monjayaki after drinking. When we gather around the iron plate, it's so much fun and we can go home happy! It's great when you can find exactly what you want to eat at just the right place. Osaka-ya, please continue to take care of us!

Visited a modern izakaya for a second round at 11pm. Despite the late hour, more than half of the lively seats were occupied. They made a voluminous okonomiyaki and brought it to us. Grating it on the hot plate and sprinkling mayo, the beautiful modern tamagoyaki was complete. Even with the guilt of flour at this hour, I couldn't resist the aroma of mayo and sauce. The cheese melting on the hot plate is irresistible. Ordered another highball. Well, I guess nights like this are also good. Thank you for the feast!

I wanted to eat okonomiyaki so badly, so I came to "Osaka-ya" in Kabukicho. There are quite a few okonomiyaki restaurants in Kabukicho, but most of them are open from the evening. In Tokyo, most okonomiyaki restaurants are also izakayas. Okonomiyaki in my hometown of Matsuyama is more like a snack or a meal substitute. When I was in high school, my friends and I would go after school to cook and eat okonomiyaki, and finish with soft serve ice cream. So when I came to Tokyo, I was surprised to see people eating okonomiyaki with beer or shochu highballs. The lack of restaurants open during the day also contributes to this. The place was surprisingly crowded, with some inbound tourists here and there, making the atmosphere lively. First, I ordered the pork okonomiyaki. The thick iron plate was impressive. The oil had already seeped in, so it cooked beautifully without needing additional oil. I always think I want this iron plate whenever I come here. The okonomiyaki was fluffy with a generous amount of sauce and mayonnaise, and the crunchy cabbage added a nice texture. The yakisoba was cooked in the kitchen and brought to the table. I wanted to cook it myself, but the noodles were quite thick and firm when done. The chewy texture was enjoyable, and I realized I couldn't cook this myself. I also ordered the miso stir-fried hormone, which was cooked and served. After eating half of the yakisoba and hormone separately, they were placed together on the iron plate, stir-fried again to make hormone yakisoba, which was a nice contrast between the chewy noodles and tender hormone. For the finale, we cooked monjayaki. We ordered the mentaiko monjayaki with mochi topping. We transferred the bean sprouts, cabbage, and green onions to the iron plate, chopped them finely with a spatula, poured in the soup mixture, and cooked it until it thickened. I have gotten better at cooking this now, but I remember being surprised the first time I saw it. The inbound tourists across from us were watching the performance by the staff making it. They were recording a video the whole time. They seemed to really like it, even ordering seconds. They peeled off pieces with chopsticks and ate happily. Despite being a flour-based dish, it was packed with vegetables, making us feel like it was healthy (laughs).

This is a okonomiyaki restaurant located on Godzilla Road. The underground location makes it hard to get a good signal. The interior has mainly table seating with a casual pub-like atmosphere. I visited on a Sunday evening and it was quite busy. It's a classic okonomiyaki restaurant with good value for money. Thank you for the meal.

I went to dinner with a friend. I came back because the staff was polite when I came last time. The service was quick and the atmosphere was nice. The toilet door is a bit hard to open, but there are separate ones for women and men once you open the front door. We ordered 5 monjayaki, 1 okonomiyaki, drinks, and another dish. I think it was around 15,000 yen for four people.

I tried Cheese Monja and Baby Star Monja. The staff asked me if I knew how to make it, and even though I said I did, I actually didn't know. I tried to do it on my own, but the staff kindly stepped in and made it for me. The customer service was very polite and I had a pleasant experience. Thank you for the meal.

Due to working overtime, the restaurant was empty. There are plenty of seats, but there are few floor staff, so ordering took a bit of time. The okonomiyaki had roughly cut vegetables, so you have to chop them finely yourself. However, the staff might do it at your table? The taste and cost performance are just average.

The restaurant stays open late, which is convenient after drinking. I had mentaiko mochi cheese monjayaki. The bean sprouts were difficult to handle, so overall it was disappointing. The same opinion was shared by everyone at the table. We left our drinks unfinished and took a taxi to Tsukishima. It was a bit disappointing.

I returned to Shinjuku on 2/22. I decided to come to Kabukicho for a daytime drink. I remembered a underground okonomiyaki restaurant, so I went there. It seemed like an old establishment, but it turned out to be younger than me. They didn't have a lunch menu, just a grand all-day menu. Despite coming to an okonomiyaki restaurant, I couldn't eat flour due to dietary restrictions, so I ended up making a strange order. Here's what I ordered: Sausage, Hoppy (beer), Black Oyster Butter Yaki. The sausage was homemade with homemade mustard. For the appetizer, I got a simmered dish with meat, burdock root, eringi mushrooms, konjac, and carrots. It was more like a stew than a simmered dish, with a very Japanese flavor. The sausage came in two types: a mini chorizo-like one and a big herb-flavored one. The big one was soft and white, and tasted sweet with the sauce. I hesitated for a moment when ordering because I usually don't like smoked flavors, but the sauce made it milder. For the second dish, I thought of ordering something with seafood, so I went for the seasonal oyster dish. It was mainly stir-fried bean sprouts with oysters and vegetables. The butter flavor wasn't strong, and it felt more like a vegetable stir-fry with oysters. They used sashimi-grade oysters for this dish.

We usually don't prefer okonomiyaki and only eat monjayaki, but we took our family to visit Hanazono Shrine in Shinjuku and then stopped by "Osakaya," a place known for delicious okonomiyaki. Despite being busy, they provided excellent service and delicious food, leaving our family very satisfied. We will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal.

I visited again today because it was so delicious last time. This time, I ordered Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki to feel the difference with modern okonomiyaki. It was also delicious, but I couldn't tell the difference between it and modern okonomiyaki, so I had to look it up. It seems that modern okonomiyaki is made by mixing soba noodles, while Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki is made separately and placed on top of yakisoba. I may not have the best understanding, but I finally got it. I would like to try a different dish next time. Thank you for the meal.

Today, I visited the okonomiyaki restaurant called "Osakaya" in Shinjuku. It is open 24 hours a day and even late at night, it was crowded. I waited for about 10 minutes before being seated. I ordered the following items: - Draft beer 580 yen - Caesar salad 720 yen - Pork-wrapped pea sprouts 620 yen - Asparagus butter grilled 680 yen - Modern-yaki (okonomiyaki) 1250 yen All prices are excluding tax. The food came out very quickly after ordering, and I was delighted that the Modern-yaki arrived in less than 10 minutes. The delicious taste was surprising, and I understood why there was a late-night line. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal.

I visited because I wanted to eat monjayaki and okonomiyaki after a long time! I don't have confidence in cooking, so I just watched haha. Even though I made it somewhat haphazardly, it turned out delicious! The Baby Star Ramen was delicious as well! My cravings have been satisfied after a long time! Thank you for cooking it deliciously haha =)

I felt like making okonomiyaki. Not so much because I wanted to eat it, but because I wanted to cook it myself, especially on the thick iron plate at a restaurant, slowly grilling it. So I invited a friend to "Osaka-ya" in Kabukicho. The dress code was to wear clothes that could get sweaty and smelly, even in front of the iron plate. The staff at the restaurant were mostly Asian and very friendly and efficient. The number of customers has decreased, but today, except for us, everyone else was foreign customers. There was a large iron plate in the kitchen, where they also made iron plate dishes. We ordered a few dishes to try. First, we got pork and bean sprout stir-fry with okonomiyaki batter. The bean sprouts were wrapped in pork belly and steamed on the iron plate. It was quite delicious. While eating that, we cooked the okonomiyaki. We ordered the mix batter, which included pork, shrimp, and squid. We first spread the pork from the cup onto the iron plate and grilled it. The pork used was pork leg, not belly. Many inbound customers don't like the fat in pork, so I guess that's why they use leg meat. I also surprisingly like leg meat. We mixed the batter well and poured it on top of the pork, then grilled it slowly. We flipped it when the edges started to turn brown, and it slid smoothly on the iron plate. We flipped it back and grilled it again. Various dishes kept coming from the kitchen. First, the Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki arrived. It was cooked well, crunchy on the outside but soft inside. The crispy noodles with sauce were delicious. The skewer assortment arrived, and we ate it with gusto. Soon, we saw the okonomiyaki was ready. We sprinkled sauce, bonito flakes, and mayonnaise on top and enjoyed the crispy cabbage and fluffy batter. We used the fan given by the staff to cool off and had a great time.

Today, I went to Kabukicho with a friend and visited "Okonomiyaki Osaka-ya". We had a platter of assorted pickles, beef steak teppanyaki, mixed okonomiyaki, butter-grilled squid legs, mixed salt yakisoba, and non-alcoholic drinks. It was my first time having okonomiyaki in about 37 years, and it was delicious, not as floury as I expected. However, if you get carried away, it can end up being quite expensive!
