It's getting cold, isn't it? As we head into the season of chilly weather and longing for warmth, let's tighten our spirits and not lose heart. Lately, the supermarket doesn't have delicious Satsuma-age... (Is it just in Tabata...?) I can't make it to the shop that sells oden ingredients in the shopping street due to time constraints... But fear not, hardworking wives... There is "Ikatako Bozu" here, which is Satsuma-age with squid, octopus, and Bozu (what is that?) inside. For tonight's dinner... would it be squid, octopus, or Bozu...?

On July 20, 2016, on my way back from the hospital, I stopped by the "Seijo Ishii" store at "Atre" in Tabata Station. In Ikebukuro, we also have "Seijo Ishii" stores at "Sunshine" and "Etika". "Sunshine" is a spacious store, but a bit far for those living on the west side. "Etika" on the west side is closer, but they don't always have the items I want (and there are fewer discounts). So, I make it a point to stop by the "Seijo Ishii" at Tabata Station once a month on my way back from the hospital. The store at "Tabata Station Atre" has refrigerated cases filled with a variety of side dishes and desserts. They have a mountain of rich cheesecakes, and sometimes you can find items with a 10% or 20% discount sticker which I immediately purchase. One item I never forget to buy is the Hakata specialty "karakamon" (spicy pickled mustard greens). It's not as spicy as Hakata's "karashi takana" but it has a good kick and the flavor of mustard greens. When I found "karakamon" at the "Seijo Ishii" in Tabata, I was overjoyed! As a Hakata native, I have to say, "It's incredibly delicious!" It's not as spicy as Hakata's "karashi takana" but it has a good kick and the flavor of mustard greens. "Karakamon" is a must-try for anyone who loves spicy food!

Seijo Ishii is a slightly upscale supermarket known for its original cakes and deli items. I hadn't been to Seijo Ishii much before, but I found a small Seijo Ishii inside Tabata Station and decided to try their famous Premium Cheese Cake. The cake is made with cream cheese, sugar, eggs, butter, almonds, flour, raisins, salt, baking powder, stabilizer (thickening polysaccharides), and has no harmful additives. The surface is covered with a crumbly "streusel" topping, and inside is a rich cheese cream with almonds and raisins. The sponge cake base is sufficiently sweet. The cake is quite rich and may be difficult to eat without a drink. It is delicious, but likely high in calories. The store also offers a variety of wines and deli items, making it popular among the local ladies. I look forward to trying their Natural Cheese Quatro Formaggio next time. Would definitely go back for more.

I decided to stop at Tabata station on my way to Otsuka clinic. I had never gotten off at Tabata before, so I thought I would explore a bit. I ended up at the Atre shopping mall, which was quite compact. I wandered around and found a store called Seijo Ishii. It was not very big, but I decided to try some imported snacks, specifically French ones. Here are my thoughts on the snacks I tried: - Maille Praline Traou Mad Galette: These thin cookies were about 5cm in diameter. They were not very sweet, but had a nice balance of saltiness, buttery flavor, and a crispy texture. They were more like shortbread than cookies, and the simple ingredients used made them really delicious. - Maille Praline Traou Mad Butter Biscuit: Similar in size to the Galette, but thicker at about 1cm. These biscuits were crumbly and had a strong egg flavor. They were not too sweet, with a pleasant aftertaste. - MAISON FOSSIER Charles VII au Chocolat: These rectangular biscuits were about 7x5cm in size, with chocolate sandwiched between two layers. The biscuits were more like cookies, with a slightly dry texture. The chocolate was not too dark or milky, and the sweetness was just right. However, I felt that the chocolate lacked depth of flavor, which affected the overall taste. Overall, the Maille Praline series was delicious and I would consider buying them again. However, the experience taught me that not all French snacks are automatically delicious, and it's important to be open-minded. I may not go out of my way to visit this store again, but I will definitely keep an eye out for these snacks in the future.

Udon soba paella At first, I hesitated because the paella was 30% off, but then I saw a half-price sticker on it so I bought it. After that, they kept putting half-price stickers on more items. The paella had a small portion and the rice was a bit hard and dry, but it had plenty of ingredients. I probably wouldn't buy it at full price. When I saw the products and picked them up, the female staff member was very helpful. The male staff member at the register mentioned that he likes to buy pudding and coffee jelly. He also likes cheesecake. They asked if I wanted a cooling agent. I use various stores like Ueno, Shinjuku, Meguro, etc. The staff at Seijo Ishii even pack sale items carefully. Both the female and male staff were pleasant. The male staff member greeted me with a warm welcome. It was a pleasant customer service experience.

I visited when Beaujolais Nouveau was released. [Order] Iberico pork and Parmigiano Reggiano lasagna. This lasagna is probably limited to the season. It's delicious, so I always reorder it when I see it. I like to drizzle it with Marie Sharp's Tabasco. It paired well with red wine.
