On this day, after finishing my morning errands in the vicinity of Tachikawa, I bought some lunch items to go at Tachikawa Station Building. I got some inari sushi from Mamedanuki in Grande Duo Tachikawa on the south side, and also bought focaccia from Sesto. Lastly, I visited Sandwich House Märchen. Although this shop belongs to Ekiute Tachikawa, it is not inside the station building but faces a passage that runs north to south within the station. When I passed by the shop in the morning, it was still quiet, but when I returned at lunchtime, there was a long line extending into the passage, with about 7-8 people, mostly women, waiting. This shop seems to specialize in fairytale-like fruit sandwiches, as more than half of the showcase was filled with colorful fruit sandwiches, and many customers were buying multiple varieties. However, I have tried fruit sandwiches at other shops before, but the combination of bread and fruit didn't suit my taste, so I decided to pass this time. I focused on deli-style sandwiches instead. As my turn approached and the line got shorter, I could see the showcase inside the shop. I scanned the options from the back and decided on a healthier sandwich that caught my eye, changing my mind from the beef sukiyaki-style deep-fried egg sauce sandwich to another one. I ended up buying the Kin Goma Gobou and Renkon Salad Sandwich for 367 yen (tax included). One slice contained a burdock salad with golden sesame mixed with spicy mayonnaise sauce, crunchy lettuce, and the other slice had a lotus root salad seasoned with vinegar and a large leaf sandwiched in between, both very filling. Märchen's sandwiches are not only popular fruit sandwiches but also recommend their deli-style sandwiches. On my way back home, I suddenly remembered the soon-to-expire drink free coupon I obtained from the Coke ON app provided by Coca-Cola Japan. By accumulating stamps based on daily walking steps, you can receive a free coupon for a Coke product with 15 stamps. Even if you don't purchase Coca-Cola products, you can get Coca-Cola products for free just by earning steps through daily walking. I have been benefiting from this app for a few years now, and this time, I got my favorite "Ocha Kaden Luxurious Squeezed Peach Tea" from a vending machine near my workplace and enjoyed it with my lunch.
