This is a quite hidden gem of a location for a restaurant. Going down to the basement floor in a small elevator in a small building, you are suddenly in a high-end looking place. I have had the bara chirashi lunch multiple times before, but this time I tried the nigiri course for the first time. The prices have gone up since my last visit, but it is still a good value for the quality, and I managed to finish the 12-piece course. The standout was the seared mackerel.

Among the sushi restaurants in Tokyo that excel in craftsmanship, this one stands out as the best. Each piece showcases the careful selection of vinegared rice and differences in aging periods, reflecting a true dedication to quality. It's not just a high-end sushi restaurant, but a place where you can truly experience the best of Tokyo's sushi. A night where you can't help but marvel at the calculated deliciousness of each bite.

Underground floor. When you get off the elevator, you'll see a stylish and adult-like store front. The friendly craftsmen and one kind server create a great atmosphere. It feels very homey and not too formal. There are two counters, and it is possible to reserve for groups of four or more without having to switch seats (from 17:00 to 22:00). This could be good for foreign customers. The food is served alternately between sushi and appetizers. The appetizers served at key points are delicious. Personally, I enjoyed the turnip dish. The sweetness at the end was satisfying. However, while the sushi itself was delicious, there weren't any standout or unique sushi items that stood out, maybe I had set my expectations too high. It might depend on the season. Personally, I thought the beer glasses were lovely. They can be a great conversation starter, and the playful element is wonderful.

I went to Sushi Kumagai after about half a year. The sushi was still delicious, and I had a great time. The style is where appetizers and sushi are served alternately. They served dishes like yellowtail, mackerel, foie gras, sea bream, tuna, sea urchin, conger eel, and shrimp. The extra touch they add to each dish makes it really delicious. I had a few glasses of sake and beer, and the total cost was around 28,000 yen. Compared to the recent trend of expensive sushi restaurants, this place is quite reasonable, don't you think?

Osushi is not my preferred type of cuisine as it lacks warm dishes, but Kumagai-san's sushi restaurant was a delightful experience. Each dish was meticulously prepared, allowing me to enjoy both warmth and aroma. I was able to enjoy ingredients that I normally only eat in Hokkaido, as they were all delicious here. I would love to visit again.

"Sushi Kyuen Kumagai" was as delicious as ever, with 12 pieces of sushi + a bowl (with salmon roe and medium fatty tuna), and even dessert included for lunch at 6,600 yen. The variety of toppings like salmon roe, sea urchin, and medium fatty tuna at this price is amazing. Please enjoy the exquisite sushi made by Master Kumagai. ◆Sushi Kyuen Kumagai ◆1-7-4 Akasaka, Minato-ku, Tokyo ◆03-5114-6800 #salmon roe #sea urchin #medium fatty tuna #lean tuna #eel #sweet shrimp #amberjack #squid (from Kagoshima) #horse mackerel #A restaurant that salmon roe lovers will adore. #A place you want to keep to yourself, a favorite spot for dining with loved ones.

I used a private room. Sushi restaurants with private rooms are hard to come by. I took off my shoes and sat with my legs under a sunken kotatsu-style table, facing a white wooden counter. Various sashimi and sushi dishes were served as perfect accompaniments for drinking. The portions were small, so I didn't get too full and could enjoy my drinks. The relaxed atmosphere enhanced the drinking experience. I had two glasses of draft beer and tried seven different types of sake, but I don't remember much after that. Everything I ate was delicious, especially the high-quality nigiri sushi.

Tamachi Sanno Sushi Kuon Kumagai: It's been a while since I last visited Kuon-san! This was my first time at Tamachi location! They serve appetizers and nigiri at a good pace, so you can feel relaxed even if you have plans after. I enjoyed the comparison tasting of hirame liver roll, katsuo (bonito) with squid and yamawasabi. It has a cozy and calm atmosphere like a hidden gem. Thank you for the meal!

It was amazing... The boss made a reservation for a team dinner. I was grateful... The restaurant had a modest appearance that made me wonder if it was in this building. However, as soon as I got off the elevator, a wonderful atmosphere opened up. We were seated in a private room right to the right as we got out of the elevator. It was the best!! Each dish was carefully prepared and delicious... No need for explanations. Please see the photos. We had a reservation at 5:30 and left the restaurant after 8:30. It was a private counter room, so we could enjoy our meal and drinks in peace. The chefs were all very kind and we were truly satisfied! I was really happy.

Hidden gem sushi restaurant located in Tameike-Sanno. With a counter seating for seven and six private rooms, it's a small and cozy place. The head chef honed his skills at the sushi restaurant in the Grand Hyatt Tokyo before branching out to open this Sushi Kyuan Kuma-gai. The omakase style of serving sushi and appetizers alternately keeps you excited for what's next. The delicacy and craftsmanship of the sushi are top-notch, with attention to detail like adjusting temperature and rice for each type of fish. The chef is not only skilled but also a great storyteller, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. The shrimp and sea urchin were particularly memorable on this visit. The firm texture of the shrimp and the richness of the sea urchin, it's a one-of-a-kind sushi that leaves you wanting more. The presentation of the dishes is also exquisite, with beautiful tableware adding to the overall experience. I look forward to visiting again in a different season.

Sushi Kuon in Kumagai was packed with regular customers despite the challenging times of the state of emergency. The selection of ingredients from all over Japan such as salmon roe, sea urchin, medium fatty tuna, sweet shrimp, eel, squid, and negitoro bowl is highly recommended.

During dinner, I visited a private room with an L-shaped counter. While listening to the modest owner's explanation, I enjoyed beautifully crafted and delicious sushi and appetizers. Each dish was seasoned perfectly, so there was no need for soy sauce, and the vinegar in the rice was adjusted based on the toppings. It was a place I would like to visit again. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

In the basement of the building next to Akasaka Intercity AIR in Tameike-Sanno, there is a hidden sushi restaurant called Sushi Kuon Kumagai. The restaurant has a cozy and intimate atmosphere with a counter seating for 7 people. Although reservations are not required, it is recommended to call ahead, especially for larger groups. The lunch menu includes bara chirashi, 8-piece nigiri, and 12-piece nigiri, with the option of a course meal with appetizers if reserved in advance. This time, I opted for the 12-piece nigiri course for 5000 yen. The meal started with a watercress and shiitake mushroom appetizer, followed by a delicious red snapper nigiri. The snapper was marinated in white vinegar, creating a balanced and versatile flavor that complemented the fish well. The highlight of the meal was the amberjack nigiri, which was rich in flavor with a perfect amount of fat. The addition of Japanese horseradish on the bonito nigiri was a unique and delightful surprise. The horseradish enhanced the bold flavor of the bonito while adding a refreshing kick. Overall, the meal was satisfying and worth the price. Chef Kumagai, with his experience from a hotel sushi restaurant, provided excellent service by explaining each piece and its unique qualities to every customer. The attentive staff and pleasant atmosphere made the dining experience enjoyable. This hidden gem of a sushi restaurant in Tameike-Sanno is definitely worth a visit.

I was captivated by the friendly head chef and made a reservation at Sushi Kuon, a fantastic restaurant. It was my first time visiting, and I was introduced to it because it was a substitute holiday during the Obon period. The interior, designed for relaxation, is superb. The head chef's passion for sushi comes through in his detailed explanations of each dish. He also loves sake, and they had rare brands available. The glasses were also exquisite cut glass. The plates were carefully selected, and they even brought out antiques like Arita ware. The sushi speaks for itself - simply delicious! There is nothing better than that. They do an amazing job. I will definitely visit again soon. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I have visited a restaurant that I was taken to by someone I work with, and I have been there more than 10 times already. Each piece of sushi is delicious, and I especially love the grilled squid. The chef's dedication and creativity can be seen in dishes like using Western-style wasabi or cherry blossom-pickled sushi. The friendly chef, the attention to detail in the decor and tableware... It's a special place where I can enjoy a meal as a treat for myself. I'm already looking forward to going there again next month.

Sushi Kuon Kumagai in Tameike-Sanno, Roppongi Ichome is my go-to sushi restaurant. It's a special place that I want to introduce to special people. The address is 1-7-4 Akasaka, Minato-ku, Tokyo. Phone number: 03-5114-6800. Classic items like ikura, chutoro, uni, and anago are delicious, but the amaebi and kohada are also outstanding. The negitoro ikura rice bowl with 12 pieces is a delightful treat.

Today, six colleagues rented a private room. Kumagai-san is skilled at using mountain wasabi. Today, he used it well with bonito and sardines. The style is alternating between appetizers and sushi, typical of the Sushi Takumi chain. One downside is that the sake keeps flowing endlessly. Today, we opened two bottles of champagne and three bottles of white wine that we brought in. The menu included: - Grilled halibut liver - Seared golden eye snapper - Red pepper grated dish - Sea bass sushi - Shad sushi with red vinegar and bonito wasabi - Moroheiya salad - Tsubugai sushi - Marinated tuna sushi with sesame cucumber - Octopus sushi - Horse mackerel sushi - Sardine with bonito wasabi - Shrimp sushi - Soft-boiled octopus and white grilled conger eel - Sea urchin sushi - Deep-fried young sweetfish - Medium fatty tuna sushi with red vinegar - Grilled marlin - Ending with the classic conger eel with yuzu pepper and sea urchin with two types of salt. For dessert, we had vinegar citrus sherbet. Amidst the ongoing coronavirus situation in Tokyo, it was a moment of relaxation that we truly enjoyed.

It was a restaurant that I couldn't come to on my own level. My boss brought me here as a reward for work, I think. I felt nervous as soon as I entered the restaurant. From start to finish, the food was delicious, and my boss was very friendly, so I had a very enjoyable time. I remember that the food was delicious and the time was fun, but I was so nervous in this wonderful restaurant that I don't remember any other details (laughs). I had heard that using a refrigerator to chill with ice prevents sashimi from drying out, but this was the first time I saw the real thing. Thank you for the meal!!

Hello, this is Irumachi Otakozo. Follow and like me on Instagram and Twitter. The restaurant I visited is Sushi Kuon in Yoyogi Uehara, a long-established restaurant. The head chef of Kuon is a former apprentice of Sushi Takumi, so the quality is top-notch. I had the 12-piece lunch set for 5000 yen and the bara chirashi for 2000 yen. The interior was elegant and there was even dessert served. The service was kind and attentive. The location is close to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, and embassies, so many high-profile guests visit. I would like to visit again because of the good value and speedy service during lunch.

We made a reservation and visited the restaurant with two people right when it opened on the weekend. There seemed to be other reservations as well, but the restaurant was spacious and relaxed. Located in an office district, they offer a variety of lunch options, including a bara chirashi for 2000 yen plus tax. We ordered a small bottle of beer and a bottle of sake, but only the small bottle of beer was served. They have about 7 types of sake available, and in the evening they serve half portions so you can enjoy different varieties. The bara chirashi had a good variety of seafood, with a lot of lean fish and interesting textures from shellfish. The uni and ikura were also well presented. The seasoning was on the sweeter side, but overall it was very satisfying for the price. The bara chirashi also came with appetizers, soup, and dessert, all of which were delicious. The dessert was particularly impressive, as it was homemade and changed monthly. We would love to come back for dinner sometime and enjoy the experience.
