After eating at "Hazama" in Tsukishima, I extended my legs a little and headed over here. It's been about 7 years since I last visited and posted a review in June 2016. The master has aged a bit, but he's still not too old yet (laughs). I've always thought that the master here looks like Bishop (Lance Henriksen) from "Aliens 2" (laughs). Anyway, I had an iced coffee and a mixed sandwich while chatting about the old days in Higashi Ginza and the master's dogs (apparently, the three dogs he used to have are no longer with us). After about 20-30 minutes, when the sweat had completely dried, I left. The iced coffee and mixed sandwich were just as delicious as they were in the Higashi Ginza days.

I heard that the owner of "Kohi Meijikan," who had been running a cafe for over 30 years behind Higashi Ginza and Magazine House, opened a new cafe in Tsukishima, so I decided to check it out. One of the things I loved about "Meijikan" was that they had all the major newspapers and sports newspapers available. I enjoyed comparing how different newspapers covered the same news, so I often spent over an hour sipping coffee and reading. Another thing I liked was that smoking was allowed throughout the cafe. They didn't bother with separating smoking and non-smoking areas, so heavy smokers from nearby companies like Magazine House found it to be a paradise. The owner closed "Meijikan" last September, but after about 9 months, they opened this new cafe in Tsukishima. However, this new cafe is completely non-smoking. There is an ashtray outside, but times have changed, so it's understandable. The owner, who used to be a heavy smoker, started running marathons a few years ago and quit smoking as a result. The cafe seems to attract athlete gatherings as well. The interior is a corner of a large photo studio warehouse, with a "Spanish Club" next door, also converted from a warehouse. It seems quiet during the day due to the lack of foot traffic, but they plan to offer wine and snacks in the evening. They are taking it slow and observing the surroundings before expanding further. Pets are allowed, so customers from Tsukuda may come for a leisurely walk along the Sumida River with their dogs. The environment is relaxed, and the owner seems to have started this business in a more laid-back manner compared to their Higashi Ginza days.
