I had drinks at "Ushino Mogami" in Yurakucho Sanchoku Yokocho under the guard in Yurakucho 2-1-1, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo. I had the raw hormone kimchi stir-fry (excluding tax 899 yen), which was a great combination of kimchi and hormone. It goes well with alcohol. The exterior photo above is taken from the inside, and you can enter from the outside as well. There are many izakayas under the guard, and it was bustling with people, including foreigners. The atmosphere changes as you move from Shinbashi to Yurakucho, with trendy shops on one side and traditional izakaya streets on the other. Although I don't have photos, I had Asahi Super Dry draft beer (excluding tax 599 yen) at Ushino Mogami. The dishes I had included an appetizer (excluding tax 399 yen), chilled tomatoes (excluding tax 399 yen), and spicy tsukune stuffed peppers (excluding tax 599 yen). I also had fried chicken and a variety of hormone skewers. I enjoyed hot sake and sweet potato shochu as well. It was a night of drinking under the guard in Yurakucho. Thank you for the meal.

I don't usually go to izakaya-style restaurants, but I had the opportunity to go for a specific reason. Even though I don't drink at all, I mainly focused on taking pictures of the bibimbap I ordered, along with some fried chicken as a snack. The bibimbap wasn't served in a stone pot, and it didn't come with seaweed soup, but it was delicious. Since I wasn't there for the food and drinks specifically, I just had some light snacks. The restaurant seemed to place a strong emphasis on the quality of the meat, so I could have been a bit more adventurous with my choices. The retro Showa-era atmosphere inside the restaurant also added to the overall experience.

I tried the "Hashigozake" from Kuromatsu-ya. I went to Yurakucho Sanchoku Yokocho because it was open for business all day, even during the pandemic. The atmosphere here seemed more important than the quality, with a lively feel to the place. I had Chamisul for 1,200 yen, which is always a safe bet. The appetizer with lettuce, pork, and sesame dressing was okay. The potato fries were freshly fried and delicious. When I checked the receipt, I realized that all prices were excluding tax, so the total bill for three people was 3,185 yen. We had a quick drink and then left.

On New Year's Eve, I went to a restaurant in Yurakucho with two friends to celebrate the countdown. We decided on this place because we wanted something casual like yakitori instead of yakiniku. The high-quality beef skewers were great for an izakaya-style meal. The harami, premium tongue, and tongue base were delicious! However, the bill was a shocker! We didn't feel like we had eaten or drunk that much, but it came out to ¥24,450 for the three of us. It might be more expensive than a yakiniku restaurant... Was there a mistake in the bill? It's not as casual as we thought (laughs).

When I went to Yurakucho for work, I somehow ended up in an underpass alley during the daytime and decided to enter a restaurant even though I don't drink alcohol because the atmosphere seemed nice. The restaurant, located in a row of several shops on one floor, had an open style and a friendly atmosphere. As it is primarily an izakaya, the dishes served were perfect for drinking. In particular, the "Hormone Karaage" and "Gyutan Motosu" (beef tongue skewers) were well seasoned and highly recommended. The hormone karaage was lightly fried and topped with ponzu sauce, contrary to the rich image of hormones, it was surprisingly light and easy to enjoy. The gyutan motosu skewers were made from carefully selected beef, making them tender and easy to eat, making them a great snack. We also ordered a few other dishes, all of which paired excellently with alcohol. The only regret was not being able to drink alcohol. Thank you for the meal~

After work, I went for a drink with my colleague. We chose a place under the guard of the edge of Corridor Street, next to the Yurakucho Sanchoku Yokocho. The area is divided into zones, with a unique alley specializing in seafood, beef, pork, and chicken. Intrigued by the large cuts of meat, we decided to try the skewers. We tried various dishes, but the most interesting was the "Whole Cow Stamina Skewer" with tongue, loin, skirt, liver, each on its own skewer. The garlic-flavored sauce and the beef fat paired well, making it quite delicious. The regular skewers were also good, but a bit heavy for one skewer. The lemon sour and beef went well together. The kimchi stir-fried with raw hormone was also a great match with the drinks.

I stopped by around 6pm on a weekday. It was not crowded at this time. The alley had a variety of shops specializing in beef, Hokkaido cuisine, and seafood. Even if you're not sure what you want to eat, you might find something you like just by dropping in. At a corner brightly lit up in the night, there is a back-alley izakaya that symbolizes Corridor Street. Drinking parties are held throughout the night. As expected, there is a parade of beef dishes on the menu, but they also offer common izakaya dishes like potato salad and edamame. Spicy beef tendon tofu - Good balance of spiciness. Sirloin pound steak - Impressive, but at 3990 yen, it's a bit pricey for a back-alley menu. The service on this day was quite poor, and we spent an uncomfortable 2 hours feeling unpleasant due to the almost indifferent attitude of the staff.

It was crowded with people who couldn't find other places to eat after 8 p.m., making this place a winner. Yurakucho Guard-Shita has been renovated, as I learned from a TV show. It's like a food court in Ebisu Yokocho, with no walls separating the shops. There are specialty shops for beef, chicken, pork, shellfish, and seafood, and you can order from other shops no matter where you sit. However, they are desperate to attract customers to their own shops. Even though it wasn't very crowded, I chose to sit here. They charge about ¥400 as a seating charge, but the contents are terrible. Just a small piece of roast beef-like meat. They should have served even a commercial potato salad instead. Tsukune with green pepper... The tsukune is tiny, like the size of the first joint of a thumb. The sauce is too sweet and cheap. Yamaimo namul... Just yamaimo with a sesame oil flavored sauce, like an amateur dish. Thick-cut beef tongue... I ordered it because it was recommended, but I was surprised by how small the portion was. And it costs almost ¥2000. I also ordered a shellfish kombu-jime assortment from a specialty shop, but it never came. However, since the food was terrible, I wanted to change course as soon as possible, so this was a blessing in disguise. I confirmed that there was no bill, quickly paid, and left. Anyway, it's overpriced and the quality is not great. It's a concept-driven alleyway development where the reality falls short. Well, all these guard-developed alleyway places are like that, right? The beer I had after a long time tasted surprisingly good. The skewers, which are the specialty of the restaurant, were of high quality with flavorful hormone and tendon options. The atmosphere was that of a casual izakaya, but the focus on quality ingredients was evident despite not being extremely cheap. Smoking is allowed in the restaurant, and the restrooms are unisex due to half of the restaurant being closed off.

Yurakucho Sanjiki Diner Street has been reborn and opened, consisting of 5 specialty material bars directly connected to producers and 6 local bars from around the country, totaling 11 stores in the direct market alley. The appetizer was roast beef, fitting for a beef restaurant. I also ordered homemade potato salad (499 yen), addictive cucumbers (299 yen), juicy pork belly (999 yen), and sirloin pound steak (3,999 yen). The sirloin pound steak was impressively large with plenty of garlic. After the Vice, I had a lemon sour (549 yen) for a vitamin boost. In this alley, you can also order dishes from other shops, and they will bring them to you. However, this time I only stuck to the dishes from Ushi no Mogami-san. I always had the impression that alleys like this are cheap places to drink, but it turns out it can be quite pricey. Yurakucho Industry Alley is open 24 hours. I wonder if they also serve lunch for salarymen during the day? I'm curious about their lunch menu.

I was looking for a place to have a light drink at my second stop, and I was caught by a catch from a hostess and entered the shop. It's a smoking allowed place. The service was not that bad, but the difference between the menu and the actual dishes was too big. The skewers (around 300 yen) were much smaller than expected, and the luxurious meat sashimi priced at 3000 yen was disappointingly thin. After about an hour, the total bill was 11,000 yen. I felt a bit disappointed to have used such a disappointing restaurant after a long time.

Tokyo's unique culture under the elevated train tracks. Not commonly found in Kansai. The lunch menu at izakayas is appealing. Stumbled upon a restaurant. Tried the popular Tawadako grilled set meal.
