I visited around noon on a weekday. It is located about a 5-minute walk from the south exit of JR Chuo Line Tachikawa Station. I was really hungry because I skipped breakfast, so I ordered the pork cutlet bowl set (1000 yen). It came with miso soup and pickles. I wonder why pork cutlet bowls at soba restaurants are so delicious. The pork cutlet was thick, tender, and very filling. You can choose between udon or soba for the set. You can also choose between hot or cold. I chose hot udon, which came with spinach, naruto, and seaweed toppings. The udon was chewy and the broth was just right. The restaurant was clean and the seating was spacious. The staff were also very friendly. Thank you for the meal.

Lunch on October 27, 2022 (Thursday). The lowest temperature in Tokyo this morning was 8.5°C. It's getting colder. I had work in Musashimurayama in the afternoon. For lunch, I went to a soba restaurant in Tachikawa. It's on the second floor of a building on Suwa Street. I had been here a couple of times before, but it was closed both times. Today, it was open. It was around 12:26 pm and the restaurant was about 80% full. It was quite busy. There were elderly men and middle-aged women. I sat at the counter seat near the entrance. I ordered the katsudon set (1000 yen) and cold soba. The soba was a bit too firm and short. The dipping sauce was quite sweet and thick. Overall, it was okay. The katsu in the katsudon was still crispy in some parts. There were some parts where the meat wasn't fully cut, but it was fine. The breading was hard but some parts were a bit soggy. The taste was sweet with a lot of sauce. It was a decent katsudon. After finishing my meal and paying, when I stepped outside, it was only 12:57 pm, but the open sign had already changed to preparing for closure. It seems like it's not easy to come across a soba restaurant that is open for business.

I wanted to eat udon after my delivery, so I googled and found this place. As I try to support small businesses that I haven't been to before, I decided to visit this place. The restaurant was full at 12:30, but the mother who was serving was calm and the food came out without any rush. I heard that the katsudon is delicious, but I ended up ordering the tendon set for ¥1200. The set came with a large black tiger tempura on the side. When I ordered cold udon, they mistakenly brought me soba, but it was still enjoyable. The soba had a strong and traditional flavor, just like an old-fashioned soba shop. The charming personality of the mother added to the overall pleasant dining experience.

- Curry Tsukemen ¥950 including tax * Half rice with fried egg * Choice of udon or soba noodles. Chose soba noodles * Choice of chicken or pork. Chose pork. This soba restaurant is located about a 5-minute walk from JR Chuo Line Tachikawa Station South Exit. Although not far from the station, it is situated in a less crowded area and on the second floor of a building, so it may not stand out much. I wondered if people in the neighborhood even knew there was a soba restaurant here. But, there were actually customers dining in, and it seemed like there were regulars too. I visited during lunchtime on a weekday and the place was about 80% full. Despite not being a very spacious restaurant, almost all seats were taken, and I was guided to a solo seat that happened to be available. I found a unique item on the menu, "Curry Tsukemen," which is not commonly seen at soba restaurants, so I decided to order it. You can choose between chicken or pork, and I chose pork. Additionally, you can choose between udon or soba noodles, and I chose soba noodles. Now, let's see how the "Curry Tsukemen" was. [Curry Tsukemen] The curry was served in a large round bowl on a tray. The glossy soba noodles were served in a square dish. There was also a plate of tempura crumbs. Furthermore, a large bowl of white rice was served, so you could enjoy curry rice after the soba. Now, onto the soba noodles. They were a beautiful white color, made of high-quality soba flour with few buckwheat husks. Of course, you couldn't really enjoy the aroma of the soba flour due to the curry scent, but the combination of thin soba noodles and the curry unique to soba restaurants was interesting and delicious. The curry with the umami of dashi stock was a taste you wouldn't find at Western or Indian restaurants. The crispy tempura crumbs didn't seem to have much of an effect, but their crunchy texture added a different element to the slurp-worthy soba, making it more enjoyable. Finally, I mixed the rice into the curry to create a curry rice bowl-like dish. I sipped on some tea and finished the meal. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Location: If you leave Tachikawa Minami Exit and turn right, go down the street with Aeon for a while and you will see it on the right side. I had a sudden craving for soba and found this restaurant while looking for a soba shop. The exterior is a new and clean 5-story building, and there is an entrance when you go up the stairs to the right of the miscellaneous goods store on the 1st floor. The entrance has a very Japanese-style gate. The unusual light green noren curtain is nice. The interior of the store is also a clean Japanese-style space with abundant use of wood materials, and the lighting covered with Japanese paper is stylish. There are about 28 seats in total, including tatami seats and table seats. I sat at a 4-person table and looked at the menu. There are about 35 items on the super simple menu, including drinks! So I ordered a bottled beer for 500 yen, board wasabi for 300 yen, assorted tempura for 1000 yen, and soba noodles for 560 yen. While drinking a lager beer with a bitter taste, I started with the board wasabi. A simple board wasabi with only fish cake and wasabi, quite ordinary. Next was the assorted tempura. A mix of shrimp, squid, eggplant, and green pepper tempura, with a crispy coating. A little oily but the shrimp was plump, and considering the quantity, it was cost-effective and a good deal. Finally, the soba noodles for the finish! Soba noodles topped with chopped seaweed in a steamer. The soba noodles were thin and not as dark as the premium grade. When eaten with a rich dipping sauce with condiments, it was not outstanding but strangely delicious! I like this kind of ordinary soba. Overall, the soba eaten in the clean and tidy interior was not "exquisite", but it was simply delicious and inexpensive, making it a soba shop that you would want to casually visit!

2015.03.14. Revisited: My friend and I arrived at the restaurant around 11:40, with only 3 other customers inside. We sat at a table to the right of the entrance and ordered the Duck Seiro (large serving) for 1,150 yen and the Curry Tsukemen Soba for 900 yen. The Curry Tsukemen arrived shortly after, consisting of curry broth, soba noodles, half a bowl of rice, tempura flakes, and chopped green onions. We were told we could choose between pork or chicken for the curry broth, and we chose pork. The curry broth was served in a large bowl, piping hot, and dipping the soba noodles into it felt like a true soba shop experience. I was surprised by the generous portion of tempura flakes that came with the curry broth, but it made sense as they added a nice crunch and flavor to the dish. Mixing the tempura flakes into the curry broth enhanced the overall taste, with a crispy texture at first followed by a mellow curry flavor. I found that I really enjoyed the combination of curry broth and tempura flakes. 2013.11.09. Revisited: For dinner, we ordered the New Soba (Seiro Soba) for 600 yen, Fried Mochi for 180 yen, Spinach for 350 yen, Hot Sake for 600 yen, and Kamaboko (complimentary appetizer). My wife ordered the Pork Curry Nanban Soba for 850 yen. Since it was a revisit, I uploaded some photos. 2011.04. Dinner: This soba restaurant is located about a 4-minute walk west from Tachikawa Station South Exit on the JR Chuo Line. It's on the second floor of a building and not very noticeable from the outside. We arrived around 18:20, and we were the only customers in the restaurant. I ordered the Katsudon for 850 yen, and my wife ordered the Nabeyaki Udon for 1,000 yen. After having soba for lunch in Ome, I opted for the Katsudon this time. It was my first time trying Katsudon at this restaurant, and I could hear the sound of frying from the kitchen, indicating that it was freshly cooked. The Katsudon was not completely covered in egg, with about 40% of it having egg topping, and the remaining 60% was crispy and delicious. My wife found the noodles in the Nabeyaki Udon to be thinner than she preferred. I remembered that during a previous visit at this time, there were more customers drinking alcohol. I wondered if the lack of customers was due to the East Japan earthquake or if it was because of self-restraint measures.

Located about a 5-minute walk from Tachikawa Station South Exit, on the second floor of a building. There was a sign on the stairs leading to the shop saying "New soba started." The soba is said to be from Ishikari Numata, Hokkaido. Inside the shop, there were 4 counter seats on the right as soon as you enter, followed by three 4-person table seats and one 6-person table seat, as well as two 4-person sunken seats. It was almost full as it was close to the end of lunchtime, indicating that it is a popular shop. I ordered the kitsune soba (600 yen). It came with two triangular pieces of fried tofu, boiled spinach, and naruto. The broth was quite rich but not overly salty. The soba noodles were a bit on the soft side, which was disappointing. Maybe cold soba would have been better. Many customers were enjoying alcohol while eating soba, so it seems like there are a lot of locals here.

A somewhat hard-to-find soba restaurant near Tachikawa Minami-guchi. I went there based on a friend's recommendation. The interior of the restaurant is clean and has a traditional soba restaurant feel. It's a small place with maybe three staff members. I always order the Tempura Soba when I go to a soba restaurant, and this time was no exception. The tempura included shrimp, squid, crab, green pepper, and pumpkin. I didn't have a strong image of crab tempura before, but it was surprisingly delicious. The soba itself was standard but very tasty. Next time, I'll try their rice dishes.
