2015.03.14. Revisited: My friend and I arrived at the restaurant around 11:40, with only 3 other customers inside. We sat at a table to the right of the entrance and ordered the Duck Seiro (large serving) for 1,150 yen and the Curry Tsukemen Soba for 900 yen. The Curry Tsukemen arrived shortly after, consisting of curry broth, soba noodles, half a bowl of rice, tempura flakes, and chopped green onions. We were told we could choose between pork or chicken for the curry broth, and we chose pork. The curry broth was served in a large bowl, piping hot, and dipping the soba noodles into it felt like a true soba shop experience. I was surprised by the generous portion of tempura flakes that came with the curry broth, but it made sense as they added a nice crunch and flavor to the dish. Mixing the tempura flakes into the curry broth enhanced the overall taste, with a crispy texture at first followed by a mellow curry flavor. I found that I really enjoyed the combination of curry broth and tempura flakes.
2013.11.09. Revisited: For dinner, we ordered the New Soba (Seiro Soba) for 600 yen, Fried Mochi for 180 yen, Spinach for 350 yen, Hot Sake for 600 yen, and Kamaboko (complimentary appetizer). My wife ordered the Pork Curry Nanban Soba for 850 yen. Since it was a revisit, I uploaded some photos.
2011.04. Dinner: This soba restaurant is located about a 4-minute walk west from Tachikawa Station South Exit on the JR Chuo Line. It's on the second floor of a building and not very noticeable from the outside. We arrived around 18:20, and we were the only customers in the restaurant. I ordered the Katsudon for 850 yen, and my wife ordered the Nabeyaki Udon for 1,000 yen. After having soba for lunch in Ome, I opted for the Katsudon this time. It was my first time trying Katsudon at this restaurant, and I could hear the sound of frying from the kitchen, indicating that it was freshly cooked. The Katsudon was not completely covered in egg, with about 40% of it having egg topping, and the remaining 60% was crispy and delicious. My wife found the noodles in the Nabeyaki Udon to be thinner than she preferred. I remembered that during a previous visit at this time, there were more customers drinking alcohol. I wondered if the lack of customers was due to the East Japan earthquake or if it was because of self-restraint measures.
